You have to be careful. I heard with Daman, they don't cover your newborn. So if the baby is premature or has congenital conditions, it is subject to approval, which most likely means that they won't cover it. I have Daman insurance and my baby was covered from day one

She was born June 2011. I was expecting her to automatically take DH's nationality on her birth cert to be honest and was quite surprised that it stated both of ours and not specified hers! ETA: And yes, she was born in the UAE. At Al Wasl Hospital. edited by suznz on 03/09/2012 interesting, we were told baby born in UAE will have to take father's nationality, our dd was born in March this year

My DH and I are from two different nationalities as well - NZ and Lebanon. Our DD, at this stage, only has my country of citizenship - the NZ and therefore, the passport which of course her visa is in. And we had absolutely no problem in getting her the NZ nationality and the UAE resident visa. On the birth cert, it states both parents nationalities and religions. We haven't got round to getting her Lebanese nationality at this point but will do in the future. was your dd born in UAE?

it depends on both of your countries rules reg dual nationality, some countries do not allow it, some do once baby is born in UAE it automaticly gets father's nationality on her birth certificate(our case as we are from two different countries) but we got both nationalities/passports for our baby-lots of paperwork involved!

CitronKB, They were in every bathroom I went into, not just the food court ones. Some are slightly larger than the others but all still possible to bring the pram or stroller in. If it wasn't so far for me to get there I would shop there rather than DM due to the nursing rooms. Hope you find them ok. thanks

I have seen a number of ladies feeding in public here, with covers of course. I have done this also but bubs is rather distractible right now so I feed in nursing rooms only. I like only the MOE nursing room in the new section (next to Mashreq bank) as it has a private loo and change room and chair all behind a locked door and also Dubai Mall nursing rooms are ok but a bit warm at times. [color=#FF00FF'>Mirdif city Centre has great nursing rooms also and they are nice and cool.[/color'> No sweaty baby issues there yet. I have fed bubs at cafes before just like all other posts say, in a corner or in a booth or facing a wall. No complaints. Sparkly pls where exactly in MCC? Im heading there tmrw and would like know so I can pop in there to bfeed my baby. thanks I do see bfeeding mothers all the time in public (with cover ofcourse), I do too! I suppose u never look out for it but once you are breastfeeding mother yourself you notice:)

I was diagnosed with hand eczema and Dermatology doctor recommended that I have a 'patch test' done to find out allergens. The clinic I was diagnosed at do not provide this type of test hence I am looking for a clinic/hospital where they offer such a test. Other then Cooper Clinic please. many thanks

just wanna mention that if u deliver at CH lets say on Thur afternoon/evening u probably wont see LC as she is day off Fri/Sat and you might be discharged from hospital on Sat if u have standard 2 nights stay..talking from personal experience here so either see her before delivery or as ladies suggested get other LC to come and see u while in CH HTH

I found cheapest option is to buy Glad mini round 4 oz plastic containers, they are around 9 dhs for set of 8 pieces and they are BPA free suitable for microwave/dishwasher/freezer. I bought them from Spinneys/Carefour/Co-op...so I pump and store milk in freezer in those...I did not want to spend money on one time use containers or bottles so this works for me as I will be able to reuse these containers for other use when needed. I found Medela breast milk storage bags and pumping bottles to be extremely expensive here and they are disposable, only good for single use. I pump and freeze a lot of milk so need to think economically. HTH

Its not the midwifes who you ask for the water its the room service. so perhaps they can make it clear and explain when you check in? How Im supposed to know if they dont tell me? I do know I was not giving birth in a hotel but I do not think to expect enough water is something extra? I would think providing water is very basic care....

Hi all so we are also already parents of a little girl. She was born yesterday evening at City and Dr. Elsa was fantastic. I was originaly booked for induction for 25th March but this little one decided to come earlier. It was not an easy labour for me but all is good now. Wishing good luck to all March/April ladies.

Hi CitronKB, I'm in the same boat as you so researched it all lol. City has the DU Wifi so you can either buy the DU wifi cards (which I have done, all ready to use - you register and put in a pin every time you want to use its about 50aed for 10 hours or something) or if you have a DU phone you can use that number and it will be charged to your account. Hope this makes sense, just let me know if not! Thanks Pingu will investigate Du wifi card as Im on Etisalat account not Du with my phone.

CitronKB replied : just fyi CH charges 1000 AED if you decide to do cord blood collection What do you mean ? That City hosp charges to collect blood cord . This is illegal ! I mean when I had a look around maternity ward 2 weeks ago at CH, midwife mentioned it so I dont know if it is new charge or not but this is what I was told by hospital staff directly.

Hi everybody well it might be me who will deliver first! on my last week doc visit she said this baby is definitely coming in March not in April as Im ready:-O doc is worried about my water retention and possible blood pressure problems so she said she would rather have me delivered sooner then later. So my next app is Wed and she said to come ready with a suitcase in case she needs to admit me for delivery! oh how nerve wracking it is! fingers cross for all of us ladies. Will keep u updated. take care all. edited by CitronKB on 19/03/2012
