I had estate agents just open the door unnanounced with the landlords spare key while I was asleep too (in london) I'm surprised that happens here too.

Everyone she knows in dubai probably isn't allowed to have overnight visitors. When you get back from your holiday she needs a serious talk about discipline and her duties, and you need to reset the boundaries, especially if you are planning to keep her till the end of her contract. Forgetting the oven on is not a joke it's something serious that could be very dangerous, she needs to focus on her job. I have actually fired one maid because she kept leaving the garden gate open, one day my dog ran away, same day she was packing her bags.

It seems like you have done all you can for the moment. It doesn't seem like anyone is living there without water anymore, I hope you don't get a hefty dewa bill. Such a bad tenant.

I always ensure that all doors and windows are closed and locked before going out and before going to bed. However, during the day I leave the doors open, it annoys my husband as family members often walk right in without ringing the bell. That being said I have a very busy house with lots of visitors. If I was alone I would keep the door locked all day.

I've found some live out maids asking for 3000 -3500 dhs per month (mostly from Sri Lanka and a few from Philippines) after interviewing they didn't seem responsible, and some were shady about the transport, but it's just an idea of the salary they ask for. Most live with their husbands or alone in karama or deira. Some insisted upon not transferring their residencies which wasn't what I was looking for. It actually does work out to be cheaper if you sponsor a girl and let her work the hours you need her rather than paying an agency for a few hours each day. The only downside of doing that is spending time to find someone reliable and the cost of her residence permit (especially if she is not long term).

It's a bit late to complain to the water park, as they won't be able to identify the specific lifeguard who didn't want to help. However if you want to contact them to inform them what had happened and see what their general policy is on such events it's not too late. It is possible that the lifeguard was following protocols that he was trained to do by not getting involved, and it's also possible that he just didn't want to get wet for something not so serious.

I know this is late. But it is possible. You won't get the deposit back for your pregnant housemaid till she leaves dubai, so you will have to pay another deposit for the new housemaid. It is quite easy to employ two housemaids. I only had problems when we wanted to hire a driver (no.4). Needed to get special permission and bring in some extra papers.

All of the malls in dubai don't have enough benches or places to sit and relax for a bit. It is especially difficult when you visit the mall on a crowded day and don't find a place to sit in any cafe either. This is more important for shoppers rather than people going to the mall for a meal or drink.

I have a different piece of ikea furniture which is a tipping hazard for young children. It's a bookshelf (tips forward even when full of books). I'm surprised that babies can climb even before they can walk. It's important to raise awareness over these type of things. Thanks for the post.

Why are they not covering it? Maybe your doctor needs to specify a more serious problem requiring treatment with growth hormones on his report. Or at least find out what specific conditions are covered that require that treatment.

Annabel in mcc and festival city sells Disney cloths and pijamas. The quality is quite good. They were having a sale last time I went so they didn't have all the sizes available. There is also a shop in dubai mall that sells Disney accessories. It's near the nespreso shop where q decor used to be.

I went to a baby shower in H hotel. It seems to be a popular venue for birthday parties, engagement parties.. Possibly the price is right and they size off the area according to the needs of the event. That's actually the only one I went to in a public location. Every other baby shower was in the girls home, or the home of a close friend or relative.

I bought my electric wax warmer from nazih. They have a branch in Barsha mall, one on shiekh zayed rd and a few other branches. They also sell the little metal tubs of wax. I usually buy the blue tub - rica brand (it's made in italy) occasionally I buy other flavors of wax some are good and some are too adventurous (avocado, chocolate, banana, lemon, coconut, olive, orange, strawberry) I also buy rolls of wax strips from nazih, the roll is cheaper than the pre cut strips and lasts much longer.

Call city hospital and ask them for her email. If they refuse to give it over the phone ask for her nurses email. I've noticed in city hospital most of the nurses send emails to follow up treatments and if you explain the problem to the nurse she will arrange an earlier appointment if necessary. Also useful if you need to email lots of medical results (especially scans) that don't print well.

Call the DED and email them your receipt. You bought a product that didn't work and it's the seller's responsibility to sell you a product in working condition.

In most cases there are more benefits if you are working on a company visa rather than on your husbands visa. The company would consider an employee under its sponsorship to be more stable long term, whereas a person under their husbands sponsorship wouldn't be as stable as they can quit at any time without certain contractual obligations, such as not having to pay back any educational or training costs if they end the contract early, not having to give a notice period, etc. From personal observations I've seen people doing the same admin job in the same company, similar qualifications and experience, but the person on her husbands visa makes a lower salary without benefits such as transport, housing and no ticket back home. The only added benefit was insurance. It would really depend on the specific policy of the company. But generally if you want more benefits it's better to be sponsored by the company. I'm not sure about the maternity leave as I haven't actually seen anyone on her husbands visa pregnant. But it was covered by the medical insurance provided by the employer.

You're right. It's unbelievable they didn't post their address or any phone numbers on their website. I only managed to find out that they are based in Ras al-Khaimah. Have you tried contacting desert cart to lodge a complaint direct with them? They could be selling very old shampoos as I've noticed that they start to smell plasticy when they are old. Or possibly it is a version of the product produced in a different country so the quality isn't as good. Whatever the case it sounds like you need a refund.

My husband bought me a horrible pair of wide framed florescent green knock off ray ban sunglasses from dragon mart. I doubt that the lenses are uv protected. I didn't want this gift but I was guilted into accepting them and wearing them in public. I'm pretty sure you will find what you are looking for there.

I have younger friends with much less experience who are arabic speaking nurses, they make between 10-12,000 dhs. Most of the nurses here are not western or western educated. And most do not speak arabic also so their salary is much lower. As your sister is a more senior nurse with many years of experience I really have no idea about the salary she could expect. I would encourage your sister to approach the bigger hospitals directly and also to distribute her cv to recruitment agencies.

Are you thinking of a wooden deck? Alot of the cheaper varieties will not last even one summer. Bricks might be a better option depending on what kind of space you have.

Networking is a very important part of finding a job. So keep putting yourself out there and hopefully you will quickly find a good opportunity to make some of your own cash and get some valuable life experience. You could start by meeting your neighbours, see if they have children and need a babysitter. There are also many places (such as summer camps) that hire teenagers to supervise younger children doing activities and sports.

If you are just tutoring as a hobby it would probably be enough that you have knowledge in that subject area. But if you are planning on doing professional tutoring you would likely need the same certifications as a teacher.
