My parents are coming to visit in January - they will need longer than 30 days, but less than 90 (I hope, lol). Can anyone direct me to the most up to date and accurate info on cost and procedure? They will be flying Emirates. I think they can do it through the Emirates website, but am not positive - my parents are not that technological and are nervous - so if anyone has done this recently and can offer up advice I would really appreciate it! In my search I read a post speaking of sponsoring them on our residence visa and canceling when they leave, is this possible? Also - does anyone know if the 90 day visa allows for multiple entries - it doesn't look like it, and I was hoping we might be able to whip up to Oman while they are here - do we have any options that will not cost a fortune? Any advice would be really appreciated! Thanks! edited by CdnExpat70 on 15/10/2011 I sponsored my mum on a visit visa in January last year when it all just took effect. Had to book the flight first - once that was done. I went onto the dnata website and they had instructions on how to obtain a visit visa. Printed it, and filled out the form. Additional documents I had to provide were my birth certificate (they requested it), her passport copy, my passport along with visa page to the dnata office. paid the deposit (1000 AED) plus an admin fee and she was given a 3 month visa. If you go to the website, its pretty clear. Aleta, my brother just had his fiance come. She booked with Etihad, put my address, applied for the tourist visa online via Etihad, provided my address, my name, did not have to provide any proof of relationship and within a few days received her tourist visa for a holiday up to 30 days. Note, the first process is for family coming for greater than a month and up to 90 days and the second is someone coming to visit for a less than 30 day visit. Hope that helps. edited by desert_doggie on 15/10/2011

knew within the first 3 months (was in two long term relationships previously and never felt it before) but wasn't official for 18 months and then married 3 years after we met.

Oh man do they ever! My pup used to chew only my most expensive shoes - she'd go into my room, and take the ones that were really high end and those would be her chew toys. We bough tons of toys, used bitter apple spray but nothing worked until she outgrew it. We are getting a new pup in a few weeks and I've already stocked up...lol

We use a private limo company - they are properly insured to be carrying passengers which many other part-time drivers aren't.

I would take them to hospital just in case - despite reading varied information on the internet,I'd be too freaked out to risk it.

Hello lovely ladies ... I am an asian expat and will be going home only a couple of days before my marriage! So I need all my preps here and honestly I have no idea where to start cuz our weddings are very different from the eastern weddings .. I need help with my bridal dress! someone know any place where I can buy one or have one made? Also what kind of money will I be spending one a new dress? Does Studio 8 have bridals or make bridals? Congratulations. Where are you going for your wedding? I can definitely help you. Sorry to hijack - but Natasha Brown if you know of any online designers from india to purchase bridal outfits from, can you list them? My bff is getting married and his fiance wants to wear a traditional outfit but doesn't know where to get it from. Would love to give her options..ta Hi natasha, do get in touch then :) I assumed that you would be going to India. I have a lot of contacts there. Seems like you are headed to Pakistan. Get your exfoliation, mani-pedi , waxing appointments done at dubai before heading out. Try getting an outfit in pakistan than here. it will be expensive and it will be a hassle getting alterations done. also make sure a henna artist is waiting for you as soon as you land there. Don’t do it here. its obviously expensive and you want it dark which is perfect for the wedding day, start working on jewelry asap. At least look around for designs if you are getting something made.

Pretty much...most of the kids we knew didn't even like the food so after trialing for 1 term, we just sent packed lunches which ended up being along with the majority of the class.

I'm looking for round spice tins (around 1" with a diameter 2-3") that can store various spice tins or something similar. I would like to be able to stack them as we have about 50 spices in our cupboards so I want to be able to see them. I've seen them on Amazon but with shipping it might add up - if anyone has seen them here, please share and if you recall the price, that would be handy too. I am looking for them to be empty. Thanks!

Dh's family would go to mosque and then back to inlaws for big feast. Tons of family visit and then we head over to my side in the evening to meet loads more family. Lots of board games, lots of family, basically. Here its quite quiet so we cook a big feast, and play board games with the little ones etc. Not as fun but still special in its own way.

How about a photo book? Snapfish has great deals and you can upload as many pictures as you want. A great keepsake.
