Think Ibn is the easiest from the metro as its just a walk across the road to the mall. Some of the malls are a bit of a trek away from the metro (according to my parents who went to a few over their stay).

Have seen quite ornate ones in a shop near Fun City at Ibn Battuta. Also, upstairs in Mercato, Porto Vecchio area, there is a shop selling them. To be honest, I'm not sure if they are to be used or just ornamental, but you could check it out maybe. Bumped up for someone in the know anyhow ; )

Surely you would only need popcorn if you were asking "and why is it better than the rest?"

They will be dropped off at Chelsea Towers on SZR, the Etihad office is apparently at the front. My parents have just travelled with Etihad and were very happy with the coach. Also, you can check in your baggage for the return journey there.

Usually takes me about 30 minutes and its the being too sweaty to go out again excuse with me! I know, it sounds like bs, but I do the school run in the morning and have to have a shower in the morning because I look like Captain Caveman if I don't. Then when I get back, I have the housework to do, and looking after the baby. I do put her to bed, but I hate having to do the exercise and then get showered, hair dried and straightened again thingy to be done before she wakes up again. Then i have 12 o'clock pick up and child home, dinner, baby to feed, entertain. Then back again for 2 o'clock pick up. Then 3 kids at home, homework, off to the park or some other entertainment for them. Home to make the tea, then tea time to get through. Husband home. Kids in bath, supper, film, bed. Husband and me to have tea...... Exercise time usually available when I am full from tea and knackered from the day! No BS, just life!

I went through a bout of homesickness when I had been here for about 6 months (after a few glasses of vino) and it was the only real time I have been truly upset at not being back home. After I have visited, I take a while to get back into the swing of Dubai, but really, you just have to remember that you can always go home for a visit or encourage visitors to come to you. A visit to the beach or a hotel for day reminds you what is good about Dubai! xx

We went when it was at Al Ain Zoo and it was about 10dhs per person extra on top of the entrance fee to the zoo. We did go again when it was at festival city and were a bit disappointed as it cost about 4 times as much and wasn't as much fun as when it was outside at the zoo, inside the tents spoiled the atmosphere a bit. Have seen it down at JBR and haven't bothered. My kids are 6, 4 and 1 and none of them cried at the dinosaurs, in fact they loved them!

But quite seriously, is there somewhere a list of words one cannot use? What if I had said bullpoop? Would that have been acceptable? Or if I had said something offensive, but not quite swearing - ie, "Your nose is large and ugly and something is hanging from it," - would that have landed me in Bur Dubai? Is the law just a vague, "you can't swear"? As the replies below (Thanks, Lakshmi!) demonstrate, what is swearing to one person is not swearing to all. Maybe I need to get a job. Am sure common sense can tell you what you can and can't say. You can't honestly believe that ******** isn't swearing. My rule of thumb is, if you wouldn't want your child coming out with it, its swearing.

Stopped procrastinating and did Day 1 yesterday.... am doing Day 2 this evening. I actually enjoyed it, but am a bit achy today. Just for information (and I don't work there or anything), but an outlet store of Sun Sand and Sports (or something like that) has opened up on Al Quoz, on the road behind Dubai Garden Centre. I got a yoga mat for 29dhs and 2 x 1kg weights for 11dhs; just thought I'd share, as it seemed pretty cheap!

The sick on my shoulder usually gives it away! Also pulling lego out of my pockets and handbag.... oh and maybe the ever-present baby on my hip (that's a dead giveaway!).

If you work your way round the site, there are plenty of downloads, which explain about free foods/healthy a and b choices/syns. As a veggie, I only do green days, which basically mean I can have 2 healthy a choices, 2 healthy b choices, as much free food as possible and however many syns are allowed in a day. I do have the SW book somewhere, but for the life of me can't remember where I last saw it. If I find it, I will post, and you can have it if you want. (I have seen it in the last couple of weeks!)

Presumably she is still alive then that she has told you this! You need to have a word and tell her that you will not have her use her death to be cruel to one of your children. Or rather, your husband needs to have a word and tell her not to bother leaving anything to anyone as you don't want it if it comes with the price of upsetting one of your children! The Cow!

I read the original post this morning and kept updating to see if he had been found and was ready to go out looking myself if a photograph was posted. However, it turns out that there was some miscommunication and the little blighter was tucked up in bed all along. I certainly don't have any issue with Sophia for her original post; as a mother of 3, I would rather err on the side of caution, if it meant that people in the area checked their pools and garages, its surely not such a bad thing. Also, it does give one a bit of a jolt as to the fact that we are not living in a bubble and must take care of our children and the ones around us.

You could try Evans, I'm pretty sure they would make them for a less skinny calf.

Party Shop at Garhoud is fab for all that sort of stuff, balloons, party bags, stuff to go in the party bags... etc, etc Can't give you directions, as I am terrible at that! However, it is just around the corner from the Irish Village. Google!
