No I'm not looking for brands but good quality and yes I did check max and m&s too. Thanks kirkidium and rose717. I want these for school use as she has a uniform dress and finds it a little difficult to remove the panties and the legging herself.

No Aveeno products in Dubai as far as I know. I was desperate for Aveeno baby products and was told by pharmacies that they are not available here.

Some with the cheap copies will have albums displayed with pics of the good copies.Talk to them and tell them you need to see the good copy(first check the price with few of the guys). They will then take you their warehouse/stores. I havent been to BKK recently so not sure if these guys still do this. HTH

Thanks for all the suggestions! Having discussed further with a travel consultant am thinking of going from Colombo to Dambulla and from there do the Minneriya National park - I have been told we can do a jeep safari to see the elephants which is the main thing for the kids. We can then see what else is reasonably near for us to see. I have been told Dambulla is approx 3 hrs drive from Colombo - does anyone know if this is correct? I thought about Kandy but isn't that quite far from Colombo? Thanks again Dambulla Colombo would be approx 3 1/2hrs and Colombo Kandy 31/2 to 4hrs depending on the day and time of travel. edited by Dora1 on 30/04/2013

Thanks for the tip off Cherry Ripe. I went to 'Creative Minds' site + saw a wooden doll on there: "Ballerina Leah" by Mellisa + Doug. Yey! So I called the shop, but after much confusion + my holding the line for some time while the shop assistants searched for the toy, I was asked to leave my name + number + told they would get back to me. Hmmm, not sure if it sounds promising or not?! Anyways, here's the link Dora1. http://creativemindsdubai.com/educationaltoys/toys/classictoys.html AL BARSHA Umm Suqeim Road, Al Barsha 2 Tel: 04-3237180 / 04-3237181 LOCATION MAP Working Hours Daily: 10:00 am - 10:00pm Thanks very much KT.I had no luck so far either-will definitely let you know if i find it.

Did you try all the toys r us stores. There is Deira City Centre, Festival and Times Sq? Borders at MOE were good and called around their stores when I was looking for a puzzle that was out of stock. I just bought the exact same thing in New York for my niece, hope she likes it. I tried Borders at Ibn Battuta-they had no idea about it :( Will try toys r us too. Thanks TimTam

I'm trying to find magnetic wooden dress up dolls but so far without any luck. Hoping maybe one of you lovely ladies has seen them on the shelves somewhere? I saw some nice Melissa + Doug ones a while back at Toys'R'us, didn't buy them at the time + now they are no longer in stock. The type I mean are made of wood, flat + little girls can stick (magnetic) various skirts, blouses, dresses, hats, shoes on them? Hi KT Did you manage to find the above?? I'm looking for same or something similar for my DD.Checked with Borders & no luck .

Have you tried Kidz Venture play area in Ibn Batuta Mall? They are in the Egypt court, right in front of toy store - There is a nursery and then there is also an hourly play area. They have a football pitch for older chidlren and a soft play area for younger kids...not sure of the prices though, I think its per hour, but you can check the website out: http://www.kidzventure.ae/community-center/drop-in-facilities/ Forgot to mention, there is a metro that takes you to Ibn Batuta mall edited by SanRan on 21/04/2013 Kids Venture play area is lovely! Dhs 60 per hr.

I stopped a taxi last evening and the driver rudely asked me where i wanted to go.Knowing very well that he will refuse to take me if i had told him the location as it was less than a AED 20 trip-i tried to open the door and found it was locked.I said 'can you open the door pls'-again in a rude manner he asked me where i wanted to go and then i asked him whether it was a new rule that we have to tell them where before we get into the taxi and then he just took off( did something with his hand as if to say 'get lost') Furious i was after standing outside for 30min but managed to take a note of the taxi number.Called and complained awhile ago but not sure whether they would take any action and what it would be.. still very furious Just curious, why didn't you give the driver a chance and tell him where you wanted to go? Not all taxi drivers will refuse, but you automatically presumed he would... I have always told the taxi driver where I wanted to go as soon as I got in or they have asked if I haven't. I'm not really surprised he was a bit rude - I would be if I were a taxi driver and someone stopped me, got in, refused to say where they wanted to go when I asked them (irrespective of tone, hard to tell from "Where do you want to go?)and then got out again... what a waste of my time! Maybe give them a chance next time, there are lots and lots of lovely drivers out there who know it is there job to do whatever journey they are asked to do and are happy to do them, you never know, your taxi driver may have been one of them if given the chance. If he had refused then you would of course have had a right to complain... Just my humble thoughts on the other side of the coin... er; he refused to let them in without knowing where they wanted to go..... ie, if you're not going where i want to go i am not letting you in attitude. As I read it, she got in the taxi, refused to tell him where she wanted to go and then tried to get out. My mistake, sorry I think I've read it wrong! No i didnt get the chance to sit as the doors were locked. The drivers who ask you where you want to go BEFORE you get in are the very once to refuse you if its a short drive. So thats the very reason i wanted to get in first. And i received the call frm the company awhile ago apologizing and blah blah that his shift started at 4am and it was till 4pm.I told him i do understand that-but if that was the case why did he stop at all? And also he could have told me (like some taxi drivers do) that his shift was over and i would have understood that.

we've never had to say where we're going - we just get in the car... I guess we've been lucky - in over 2 years here we've never had any rude or very smelly drivers (a couple have whiffed slightly but given their domestic arrangements it's hardly their fault..)...we did have one hilarious one driving through Deira once who fell asleep every time we stopped at lights - I only noticed cos he was snoring so loud LOL !! Well you have been lucky, lucky you got home in one piece! lol - we thought it was amusing.... Although i've heard the horrid/rude taxi incidents this is the first time in five years that i came across a rude driver who refused to take me in!

Same happened to me but he also ran over my foot as he took off! Complaints do not seem to change anything. why didn't you call the police then? if he actually ran you over and then didn't stop! Yes I called the police and they said I had to go to the station to file a report and since I was already on crutches at the time I could not persue it further, so I complained to DT and all I ever heard back was the driver had been disciplined. That was it?? The driver has been disciplined?? So i guess i will get the same :(

Her temperature was fine since yesterday at around 6 pm. but she kept crying at night, but was so sleepy to open her eyes. but you're right if her temperature goes up i will def head to Dubai to see her docter. I got really irritated how he prescribed AB and still told me yeah nothing is wrong with her. ?!!? but another qs, her gum was quite soft could it still be teething? She could be teething, but if i were you i would take her to another doc for a second opinion.Just to be sure.Hope she will be better soon.

My DD wasn't the greatest of eaters and wasn't keen on milk but I tried the milk with the purple label (not camel milk) as it has extra protien in it. She loves it. I started with strawberry milk powder in it (she is another one that doesn't like chocolate) and slowly reduced the amount of powder. She now has it without. She was allowed to choose the shape of her pasta as she would eat that. First she would get it with just a bit of butter on it, then cheese was added she now eats a meat sauce with it. It is my go to meal when she is being stroppy about food. It is made with 500g of mince and 1kg (min) of veg so I know she is getting veg. I make the veg sauce, puree it and add it to the mince. She makes me promise that there are no carrots in it. There are but she doesn't know :) She was a fabulous eater until she hit 2 years and 6 months. Curries, spice, veggies the lot. She is slowly getting better. I just don't make a fuss at meals. She is nearly 4 now. If you look at what she eats over a week, is it okay? Somedays my DD eats/drinks next to nothing but the next day she has hollow legs. It balances out over 7 days. I guess if i consider her food intake over a week-well i would not say good but its ok. She would start to improve and then she would come down with a cold/cough/flu and back to square one. Mine was a great eater till she was about 2! edited by Dora1 on 13/03/2013

No chocolates!!!! lucky her.....LOL When my DD would fall asleep without eating anything I would blend an egg in her regular formula and give it to her while she slept....I know not good for the teeth but I was worried ...so sue me. On another note, I heard camels milk has all the nutrients a person cud need. My DD loves it. Why dont you take her shopping and buy her a small bottle (has a nice purple label) make up a story and see if she drinks it. Stories help....my kids love brocoli because I said they were mini trees from the enchanted forest. Did think of the bottle trick ;) although havent done it yet Thanks for the other tips too.

Hi Can you please recommend a good growth & appetite tonic for my DD who's 3 and is a very fussy eater. Her doc recommended Vitane(last yr) and I tried this for sometime-it did have a small effect. Have you ever tried a appetite tonic? If so which one worked best for your toddler. Please share. I'm desperate here as she eats very little or nothing at times.. Thanks
