Went for a nose this morning and will definitely go back to try out lunch or dinner. Lots of fresh deli stuff, limited bread on display, lot of desserts, sweets, Valrohna chocolate and some kitchen utensils. They sell black and white truffle (not fresh though) which is good to know. Similar stuff to Carluccio's on display. Unfortunately no pork items. Prices twds the high end as expected. A good alternative to the other coffee bars around and a good place for antipasti stuff if you're doing a dinner party.

I just added something to a kitchen thread, call Oliver Gottling at Novum Intl. They fitted our kitchen and organized the contractor so I didn't have to get too involved in the details. 04 885 3835. They have a showroom upstairs in Green Community but by appt only. Oliver is German so you know that you're going to get something exact and precise! I was v happy with the result.

There are a few places along the SZR going twds Dubai. Sorry, all the shop names escape me but take the slip road at The Garden Centre and drive along there twds Times Square and beyond that and there are more bathroom showrooms than kitchen ones. Or give Oliver Gottling at Novum Intl 04 885 3835 a call if you need help with designing. There is of course Ikea.

If you're renting and have registered with RERA, then it would kick in automatically. Same if you were buying. But typical of Dubai, some are paying (like me) and some aren't. But I think it eventually catches up with you, just a matter of when. I would just put it aside anyway and if you don't end up paying then it's a nice saving!

No they do not. But if you are a permanent resident in another country then you could try and apply as that citizen of that country and not as a resident of UAE. Try Banco Santander.

Hi lcoolie, I had my LASIK done in Hong Kong. I think the procedure is pretty standard these days but if you are worried about finding someone reputable then make sure you go on recommendation or seek advice from Moorfields in Healthcare City.

I have one eye that is -0.5 less than the other one so I do not need reading glasses....yet. However, it can be a bit of a pain when driving and trying to read road signs from long distance but I can wear glasses or a contact lens if I choose to so they are 20/20 just for driving. I was really short-sighted once and it was the best thing I've ever done.

DH says they'll probably paint the grey corridor a different colour, and sadly graffiti will probably appear in time. And yes, won't be long before an accident happens as reckless youths will uses it for their burn ups.

Green Community is lovely once you're in there but getting in and out of the place is a nightmare as there is only one road and you are battling with all the lorries. Easier for your DH to get to work but will be a nightmare taking kids to school.

If you are keen on the Meadows then rent there first for a year and then you have time to find out what the other areas are like. I certainly wouldn't rule out AR as it has some gorgeous houses and is a great community and the road does cut out alot of time. I also like Victory Heights. We live in Meadows 5 and love it. We are between Town Centre and Meadows Village for shops. Although there is no pool we can use the communal pool in Springs 1 which is 5 mins walk away. Or join Hayya club and you can use the pools and facilities there. If you want a house with pool then expect to pay premium. The quality of build does differ from area to area depending on which contractor was used at the time. DH is an architect and he says the quality build of houses here is fine and will certainly stand for a few more years!

I took mine to Yellow Hat at Times Square mall a few months ago and they did a great job. My fabric upholstery hasn't smelled since and my interiors were polished and waxed. It was like driving a new car!

Personally I think finance and banking is now very sales driven and I suspect your FA, even though accredited (does that really mean anything?) will be paid commission upfront on the sale of this bond. With interest rates where they are right now you may as well put it on time deposit. Sometimes you do not have to do anything and right now doing nothing might be the right course until things smooth out globally. At least my FA and I are on the same page; am sitting on cash until something I think is worth investing in comes along.

I second Dr Bhatia. My friend had cornea problems and she recommended him to me as one day I started seeing flashes in one eye and freaked out. He fitted me in immediately, did loads of tests and is very patient. I find out that the sac that holds the eye fluid had come away from the retina and luckily I did not have a retina tear. Unfortunately I still have this huge floater in my vision that won't go away. He calls ever so often to check up on me which is fantastic service.

As it's their 23rd visit they've probably done more than most of us here! Perhaps they just want to chill by the pool and enjoy the fine weather? Took my ILs last month up the Burj Khalifa; played some golf; took them to quiz nights at AR and Emirates Golf course; went to Polo Club to see the horses and have a drink.

You need to call your HSBC Premier relationship manager (if you don't know, just call the HSBC Premier no. and speak to someone there) and they will put a call into Airmiles so you are registered. Once that is done you can book your flight. You should also be carrying a blue Airmiles card with your Airmiles membership number on it? Cuz if you show that in certain shops like Spinneys or Tavola, then you get extra miles on top! To get the blue card, you need to call Airmiles and register for one.

LIL when Armani first opened you needed a reservation but not sure what policy is now. We booked anyway as we wanted to try out the Italian restaurant (excellent food!) and there is a small balcony there to watch the water show. There is also a Japanese restaurant downstairs that had lots of al fresco seating and you can have a drink and watch from there.
