Agreed hiccups! I'm now 100% convinced this is a "wind up" too! First of all, no one is head hunted for a three day associate professor's position, not to mention that a part time associate professor role doesn't exist in any university in the UAE! Take it from someone who has worked in universities for more than 15 years. Associate professor roles are full time and only professors with world class research profiles are head hunted! Secondly, Tessa21 always posts on a Thursday or Friday - traditionally the slowest days on the forum. Finally, admin need to find better ways to get people talking again (like not deleting every thread with a whiff of controversy, for example!) and if they delete this post, I'll take it as a sure sign that Tessa21, is indeed, a figment of someone's imagination at EW's head office :) Hi rawla, We can assure you it's not us! Some of the admin's actions make me wonder if they really understand the board they run. For example, someone asks if anyone knows if anyone wants to buy or sell something really specific and admin closes the thread and tells them to post it on the classified. No one looks at the classifieds unless they are looking for cars, furniture or maids! Or someone wants an opinion from their fellow Dubai expats about travelling to Disney World and admin moves it to the USA forum - as if anyone looks at that forum ever. It is also definitely time to do away with all the separate categories - schools, maids, etc. That is from an era long ago when there were so many threads everyday it was hard to keep up. Now they just make the board incredibly cumbersome. Hi sheikhandbake, We're sorry to hear you feel like that! Understandably, we ask our members to use our classifieds to prevent our forum becoming too ad heavy - our classifieds is for that purpose. As we are now a global site, we urge our users to make use of the other categories available on the forum. Anyone who has a question about living in the USA, or yes, travelling to Disney World, our admin team will move to the USA forum to try and ignite conversation and debate in those forums also. The same goes for any school related threads, or maid queries - we'll move to the relevant board. EW Admin

The whole point on having an active online ex-pat forum is to share ideas, thoughts and knowledge.....this is what makes interaction stimulating and interesting. As with everything in life, people have different views which causes debate which can get animated at times. I can think of numerous threads where there has been lively, albeit intelligent debate which have been deleted by Admin - a lot of these threads had several pages of postings and were just deleted. Hence heavy censorship has the effect of i) deterring women from expressing different views and ii) preventing any kind of debate and iii) preventing women from putting in any effort into posting given the risk of the thread being deleted. Hence I have seen a number of informed women leave EW and the board is relatively stagnant. Instead of discussion around a variety of topics, the board is now heavily populated with the usual "Please help me / my husband find a job" postings. Sigh..... Hi annorman, Thanks for the feedback. As per our forum rules you can appreciate why we must ensure censorship on this forum, as we are based in this region. We always encourage our members to express their views, but in a way that may not be deemed disrespectful or insulting. EW Admin

We have moved into Jumeirah Park about 6 months ago I believe the description to their community in the property section here is incorrect. There isn't any community clubhouse, tennis courts, gym, kindergarden, youth center or department store. There also isn't any walking or cycling trails. There are barely even any parks! Are these features something that they plan on building?? If you'd like to come along, we do organise weekly coffee mornings across Abu Dhabi that you may come along to and meet EW members, fellow expats and potential new friends!
