When you sponsor someone, he/she can only work for you. As you only need a part timer and you do not supply accomodation, it will be very difficult for you to make sure the employee does not go and work for someone else the other days. You could not only be fined but deported if the employee has another job.Until part time work becomes law (government studying the option although may not be available for maids, nannies yet), you would take a big risk in going the route you envisage.

Go into the aztech router by typing 192.168.1.1 it should bring a window where you need to enter username (usually admin) and password (usually password). then go into wireless tab and click into no security (should be next to wep/wpa and so on). Save settings and restart router. Then try to connect the wireless range extender. Once it is all connected, switch off range extender first and go back into aztech router and password protect it (wpa is best).Again save settings and restart router.then switch on range extender. It should want to connect and bring a window asking for password. HTH.

Hi ladies, I need your advise on nurseries and schools. what is your experience on schools and nurseries here; would you advise having your child in a French school (so they keep up with the French language)? or in an English speaking school? My LO is only 2 but we need to think about schools already. And what are the most recommended French nurseries here? we live in the Tecom area TIA It will depend whether you plan to go back to France at some stage in the future. You can find international schools in France, but they are not cheap and not everywhere. As your child is very young, she may be able to switch from French to English speaking curriculum easily. The only issue is when they start to learn reading (earlier in an English curriculum) your child may have to do some catch up.It is a tough decision.

I am following the GOP campaign with great interest and I am not from the US. I think it is far more interesting than the campaign of republican candidate vs democrat candidate. It is probably the only time that the candidates can really show their true colors. Once nominated, they will have to water down their expectations to increase their chances of being elected president.I am also interested in seeing who the Tea Party will endorse.the republican candidates are quite colourful at least some of them!

It is not a local school but an international school where French, Arabic and English are taught. The school has been around for a long time and is not expensive. Quite popular with some arab expats.

tyres have got to be aligned and balanced for safety reasons. It should also be included in the price they quoted you. 2,400dhs is a lot of money already. Just check the tyres are 2011/12 while you are at it. Many crooks around unfortunately.

it is the old debate of nature vs nurture, the biochemist vs the psychologist. He has a point when he says that some experiences a child go through will affect his behaviour. He just deplores the fact that medication is seen as the saviour of the condition when it is not the only one. Again, he is speaking as a psychologist so his arguments are that experiences are perhaps more important than the genetic background. A doctor in medicine will probably say the opposite. A point this psychologist did not discuss is the potential mis-diagnosis of this condition.Although long standing and precise testing exist about ADHD/ADD, how many people actually go and get their child properly assessed ?We did not do any brain scans on my DS but the scoring of the tests he underwent shows that he has the ADHD condition. A brain scan would have only emphasize the results found by the scoring. There is definitely a physical difference to the brain of ADD/ADHD kids to so-called 'normal' kids. It is widely accepted by the medical community.

He does not say the 'disease' does not really exist (BTW ADD and ADHD are not a disease), he queries the long term efficiency of using the drugs. Without going into too much details, brains of ADD and ADHD kids is actually physically different from so called 'normal' brains. He does not denies the short term effect of the drugs on these kids (he would be silly to say so). He also says the drugs have the same effect on so called 'normal' brains, which is correct. The stimulant drugs are not specific to ADD,ADHD brains, nothing new here.To be honest, his rethoric adds nothing new to the subject. As I said earlier, people who treat solely their ADD or ADHD kids with medication will only get disappointed in the long term as the medication only treats symptoms associated with the condition. Anything to do with self- centeredness , aggression for eg needs to be attended to not just with meds but with therapy. May be that's what this psychologist wants to say. Come to me guys for therapy!

The article is wrongly titled in my opinion as it really talks about the misconceptions about stimulant drugs rather than their failure. Nothing new there. People with ADD,ADHD kids on medication will know about the limits of these medications. These medications do not cure the physical problems associated with ADD and ADHD (for eg, processing issues, smaller frontal lobe....). These medications deal with the symptoms associated with ADD and ADHD (poor concentration, anger and frustration for eg), not the cause. As a result of using these medications, there will be an improvement in the behaviour of these kids but that is not enough. Parenting has an important role to play as well and some social behaviours need to be re-enforced as they need to be taught and re-taught to these kids. I think this article does not shed any new light on the problem (I wish it did as mum of an AHD kid). It just shows that sometimes there may be too much reliance on medication in the hope everything will follow suit. Well it won't!Active parenting is required!

You have to request a wheelchair when booking your ticket. Also, some of the seats on the plane are reserved for disabled passengers. When you check in, you have to request this. I recently had to use the service for myself and it was very good. I was wheeled and buggied with the family all the way to the plane. I did not benefit from the disabled seating as I was on standby and the plane was full but on a full fare paying ticket you should be able to get it.We even got priority at the security. You must make sure that you request a wheelchair at the other end as well! Good luck.

I think both experiences are very interesting as they touch on different subjects. The tour allows a non muslim to enter a mosque for eg (most mosques in Dubai are actually forbidden to non muslims) and gives a historical dimension to the arab culture. The breakfats can be a different experience each time (I have been to 4 and each time it was very interesting - best was about the volunteer recalling his childhood in pearl diving). I would go for both experiences if time allows.

Owned cats do not always wear collars so you will have to find out whether he is a stray or not by other means. Does this cat behave like a stray, say running away when you try to approach him, does his fur looks like he is leaving rough ? If this is the case, it may be difficult to catch him. Before trying to catch the cat, phone FF and explain the situation and that you would take the cat to the vet to be neutered. FF has special prices and would book an appointment at the vet you would go to. At least you will prevent this cat from having litters or being the cause of more stray cats! If you cannot do this, try to hose spray the cat and let the dog out in the garden, the cat hopefully will go elsewhere. Good luck. edited by fjcruiser on 11/01/2012

As a follow on from this, how do we go about changing to another lender, and any recommendations? You would need to see an independant financial adviser as it depends what type of mortgage you have, your personal circumstances.Transferring your mortgage may involved costs which could be offset in the long term if you transfer to a cheaper rate, but these costs are most often payable upfront. Only a qualified IFA can help you out. edited by fjcruiser on 11/01/2012

The 'randomly selected' is the worrying part of it (besides the fact the new lender almost double your rate) as it seems quite strange especially as you are a long standing mortgagee. Can you say who you were with and who you are going to as it may help solving the problem.

You could try some non steroidol anti-inflammatory like diclofenac or arcoxia, both available OTC.Do not take diclofenac more than 10 days as it is hard on the stomach. Arcoxia 90mg is gentle on the stomach but expensive (195dhs!). You should still see your GP who can refer you to a physio which normally is covered under your insurance (although the cover may be capped at a certain amount). If after 5 weeks, you still cannot walk properly, you may need a new referral for an MRI.Good luck. It is one of the most painful conditions to experience especially is it is a burning 24hrs a day pain.

Thx ladies.my son is 5 at the moment,6 in April.kg2 at present and was offered a place in year 2 for September 2012.Overnight the school's decision changed, stating KHDA will not allow a student from an IB school to a British School. Also awaiting reply from KHDA. As Cornish Pixie stated earlier, you cannot jump a year.In your case, DS cannot go from KG2 to Year 2. He has to go to Year 1 first. Again, the KHDA does not understand that IB/US & UK curriculum use different numbers for the same thing. All the KHDA cares about is you cannot jump a number that's all. The school has nothing to do with it, it is a shame they fail to warn you about this. If you are desperate to make a move from IB to UK curriculum, you could perhaps ask Fiona Coutts (do a search on EW for her details). She may be able to help you do it.

In fact there were several parties going on. They were not big. The only thing is when the mosque calls for prayer you must stop the music.

The named driver you sometimes have on your policy does not necessarily have to do with the car being sporty or being expensive. Our car is 7 years old, we only paid 60,000dhs 2 years ago for it but the repairs can be very expensive so hence the named driver restriction although DH and I are in our late 40s with quite a bit of driving experience. This year only, the insurance decided that the car could be driven by anyone above 25 years of age. Do check with the insurance. Today is a public holiday hence why you cannot get through.

Call RERA for advice and tell your landlord you are doing so. He will probably back out. If you have a renewable contract (basically a contract is renewable unless it sates it is NON renewable), the 2nd year he cannot increase the rent and the 3rd year he cannot increase by more than 5%. Speak to RERA asap. They are here to help.Good luck.

I am looking at buying either the Extreme or the Express to improve wireless coverage in the house (I was using home plugs before but the wireless home plug burnt out within a year so looking at alternative now).I have an Etisalat Aztech Router 802.11g I have 3 questions: Q1-Would the Express work with my router as it is 802.11n while router is 802.11g ? I read the Extreme is dual band but is also 2x as expensive and all I want to do is increase wireless coverage in the house. Q2- Could I do without the Etisalat Router by directly plugging the Extreme or Express via the white box E-life installed on my wall (I have fiber optics). Q2- Wireless in currently good on 2 floors but not downstairs. Would I need 2 Extreme or Express or would one suffice ? TIA

There are 10 pods per sleeve. You can buyjust one sleeve if you want. Prices depends on the flavors and Nespresso has limited editions which tend to be more expensive. Go to the Nespresso shop in DM. they are opened 7 days a week.It is a very nice place. You can even try their coffee. They sell the machines too although it is more expensive than in the UK for eg. Many other places sell the machines too but they all seem to be at the same price.

Known side effect with Concerta (being a stimulant) is : lack of appetite, possible slower growth, and definitely risk of insomnia. Hence weight/height needs to be regularly checked by your doctor. Strattera, high dosage can sometimes cause unpredictable moves (face grimacing for eg). When the dose is lowered, this side effect tends to disapear. My DS takes a combination of both drugs and we found the plus far outweigh the minuses. Again, it is important that the child be followed by a specialist doctor, in our case a psychiatrist.

Are you sure there is no mum around ? here mums seem to spread their little ones to protect them from predators. If the kitty is only 2 weeks old and need being hand reared, it means it will not be able to be an outdoor cat as you will be his mum so to speak. It's a big responsability and IMHO limits the chance of re-homing as the kitty will have to be an indoor cat. That's what Al Qoz vet told me about bottle feeding kitten.

Good one JoyceB. When my cat (9 months now) cuddles then bites I just blow on her and she stops. I think mine thinks I am her mum as I found her abandoned in a bush and I was the first one to handle her. In real life, when kittens do this to their mums, they get wacked by the mum. We are far too gentle sometimes LOL. Biting is fun for them, it is part of the bonding process but their teeth are so sharp at such a young age. I have to say now that mine has her adult teeth, it is less painful. Unfortunately I am allergic to the saliva so it is too painful not to react to it!

Best would be to go via Business Bay Crossing to get to Airport Road. Leaving at 8 means you ll sit in traffic on Airport Road but the works have ended so it wont be for too long.I would allow 45mns to 1hr to be on the safe side. Evening should be easier going the same route. Sheikh Zayed is too busy and you have 2 tools each way.

Oh, yes, FJCruiser, I can do podcasts, but they're not as comprehensive as "on demand", by a long chalk. I'm sorry, I understood you to say that you could listen to live radio using iTunes on an internet radio, but clearly I'm wrong. Also, I've just checked my BBC stream which for some reason is working fine in the kitchen just now, and it is 46kb, which is surely half the bandwidth you mention, so reasonably low, no? I've almost given up watching the iPlayer or anything else on my computer, the quality is so poor, it takes two hours to watch a one hour prog (this is on a computer connected by ethernet cable to the internet). ITunes is good for internet radio/podcasts. Try it. It seems that the 'old' computers you re refering to are the culprit.Low processor speed, fragmentation and too many programs running! (that's without mentioning the windows system dinosaur issue!).The 46kph BBC stream should allow for continuous running. I do not think the 'n' router is the issue. I run with a 'g' etisalat bogstandard router. The problem iselsewhere. Without seeing your set up it is very difficult to pinpoint the problem. If you ring Etisalat, they won't have a clue so don't go there. They will ask you if you are switch on and at best tell you to reboot! I am sorry I cannot be of any help. Xmas is round the corner and may be a MAC would solve your issues!

I am sure it is a bandwith problem. The same happens with the TV when BBC iplayer is high quality, I loose connection despite having 8mb broadband speed. Why don't you try iTunes. My DH download podcasts from BBC onto his iPod and does not seem to have any issues. Let us know how you get on. You ll see on the left handside menu of iTunes there is a podcast tab.

Do you use iTunes to listen to internet radio ? I found iTunes works well with my home plug system. I found that when I used Reciva for eg (internet radio portal), it was not working well with internet radio especially when it was high quality radio (which needs loads of streaming). iTunes seems to store less quality bandwith (96kph) which means the sound is still very good but there is no loss of connection. Some of the radios stored give you a choice of quality, use 96kph and it will work fine.

Yikes! Thanks everyone for your input here! Its hugely educational and will probably have to let my husband decide what he wants to do/buy. The home plugs you refer to - FJCruiser - are I think things that allow the internet to run via your existing wires/cables in the house? My husband mentioned these but again didnt know if it would work with our weak signal in the other room. Yes, the problem is I think our walls - the signal has to flow diagonally in a zig zag way due to our walls. Not a big house and only one storey but dont think the landlord would like us to start knocking down walls to make it open plan! Any other advice, keep it coming. Thanks so much everyone! The home plugs run through your electrical circuit so a weak signal from the router does not matter since one home plug is wired to the router. Best way IMHO to increase network coverage. We had a similar problem our walls have metal mesh inside it is very bad for wireless. The home plug goes into your wall electrical socket (you must plug it in directly not via an extension lead). So in effect you have the router sending wireless signals through the room and into the home plug it is wired to (using cat5). The second home plug is where ever you need internet access. Again it must be plugged directly into an electrical socket. The home plug is either wireless or wired i.e you can attach a cat5 cable between the home plug and your PC et voila! (if wireless home plug- see instruction in my first post).

Jacky's all the way. If you buy a few items, they will give you a discount. C4 customer service is rubbish. Also, C4 does not tell you where the good is actually made. For eg, they sell Bosch dishwasher but they are made in Turkey rather than Germany, hence they are cheaper for a reason. Jacky's is very competitive IMHO.
