Antibiotics are given to treat bacterial infections, not viral infections. I assume the dr wanted to wait 24 hours to see if any symptoms of a viral infection would show up (which might be the eye discharge, see: Nasopharyngitis) and if not, to give him the antibiotics to treat the fever as a bacterial infection... I think. omg i think he does have Nasopharyngitis.. i just read the symptoms and he ticked all boxes!!! yiiikes! screw the antibiotics then.. do i jst keep giving him calpol every 4 hrs and baths? il see what his dr says tomorrow..

Hi Bianca, yes that is correct, the antibiotics are to be used tomorrow if his fever is still high and that means he has bacterial infection rather than a viral!! i dont want to start him on antibiotics untill i see his dr tomorrow. my heart is aching for him :(

Have you started the antibiotics? I don't know what to tell you seeing as the hospital won't help but I wouldn't be happy with what they said. I would want to know what was wrong with my son before starting any meds as augmentin can be used for so many things and without doing any kind of test how can they say it is viral?!?! Sending loads of hugs your way. Not that they will help at the moment Thanks Lynney, very sweet of you.. i just gave him calpol and put him to sleep.. il monitor his temp and if it shoots up i am going to the hospital... tomorrow morning i am taking him to healthbay poly clinic to see his dr Rita.

THank you so much ladies, i just got back from Medcare Hospital (we didnt have time to google any other ones and we knew the direction to this one). the Dr prescribed a bunch of medication and gave him a nurofen suppository. she said it is most probably viral, so we need to keep an eye on his temperature every 4 hours and to give him calpol if it rises above 38 and the suppository if his temperature is above 39. if by tomorrow night his temprature is still high then i have to start him on antibiotics (augmentin). i will also give hima bath tomorrow to keep the temp down.. so sad :(

Thank you all for all the feeback...i am going crazy, i actually cried all the way from work to home today.. i wish i could stay home and care for my child.. but i also want him to be around kids, we would like that.. it is better for him too. i went to Blossom V. saw the older branch (Blossom i think 4 or 5 months ago) and i dont know why i didnt like it.. but Blossom V is fab.. it is shortlisted. I saw Willow also around the same time i saw Blossom soe 4 or 5 months ago and i remember falling inlove with it and i favoured it over Blossom and Little scholars or smthing cnt remember.. but i think i need to visit Willow again and compare it to Blossom V and L&P (btw a friend of mine told me aout the incident.. is it really true???) I saw little woods today too..lovely lovely lovely facilities but the learning rooms for 18 + ++ are not nice too small and they are only open till 5.. the person incharged said they have cleaners etc that stay till 6 so they can look after my son!!!!! never right?!!! so now i have narrowed it down to: Blossom V (i only saw the room for 12-18 months, is the next class up nice? spaciouse? i willhave to see it tomorrow Little woods L&P Willow what do you ladies think??? Thanks, FM

Thanks ladies, really appreciate all the feedback.. we are just worried that we speak arabic to our little one at home (and english too). so will introducing a third lagnuage which is the french in nursery be too much?? SuzyDuzy, you said your kids dealt with 3 languages from 2 yes, mine is 1, so should be ok right? would love to hear about the incident at L&P, is it true? i need to know beccause if it is then obviously i am not putting my kid there! i went to see Little wonders - i didnt like it.. nothing against it but it just didnt stand out to me Children oasis didnt do it for me either i am going to see Willow again today, chidlren's garden and inspire oh and Inspire

Littlewoods is also fantastic, it's in between Al Manara and Umm Al Sheif, closer to Al Manara end. I had a look around a number of the same nurseries as you. I really liked Inspire but they don't provide lunches and if you are working then that is quite a lot of extra work for you. Little Scholars, Willow and Littlewoods all provide meals. Willow and Littlewoods also do swimming as well as many other activities. All three are open year round and have camps during the summer/spring/winter. I am not mentioning the rest as I haven't seen them. I did go see Kensington and really thought it was awful, the rooms are tiny, the person showing me around couldn't have been less interested in nurseries and I found the place to be quite miserable, which is a real shame as I literally live across the road and it would have been my first choice. I second that too! Their only problem is that it is sooooooooooooooo exspensive!!! thanks ladiess.. sorry but which nursery is very expensive? off to check my other thread

thanks ladies I went to see London Paris school and its not too bad. they do one week in french and one in english starting from 1.5 years, my husband is a little concerned and he thinks our son doesnt need the french as he will have the arabic and english... he is also scared that he might get a delay in speech... i dont agree.. i was told kids can learn up to 5 languages.. what do you think??> Willow is very nice but they dont have any availability. what are your thoughts on Inspire, children oasis, little wonders and children's garden?? didnt have time to go see them..

I've been looking for a job now for 4months and I'm starting to feel down and fed up! I've had some job interviews, and didnt get any further, was offered 3 jobs but couldnt take them as the salary would hardly cover the nursery fees, and at best leave me with an extra 1000Aed once the nursery fees paid! My husband doesnt have any allowance (such as accommodation, health insurance only for himself). Before some of u start wondering what's the point of coming to Dubai, if we're struggling: we both dont have much experience, and rather than staying back home where the job market is really bad, and be in a job-seeker allowance, we would rather do our best to work hard anywhere. We know things will only get better by doing so. I have a Master degree in Marketing, can speak 4 languages, have 2years experience in marketing + 2years experience admin/call center jobs, so what's wrong with me? If anyone knows of any vacancies, not only in marketing, Admin, reception...Any tips are more than welcome Thanks plz email me your CV asap to suzie dot jumaily at gmail dot com

i could do that... i am still expressing.. i just need LO to used to formula for when i wean him off at 1 year he has been exclusivley breast fed until Sunday this week where i tired to give him formula as BFC said... there's no reason why a child that's breastfed to 1 year old should ever have any formula. Neither of mine did. They just went straight to cow's milk. I work full time and for 7 and a half months i used up all my breaks to express.. i am tired.. very tired! as of today i am going to stop expressing, i will BF my now 9 month old baby In the morning and at night, but no more expressing when I am at work to make up stock for the next day.. i spoke to a midwife yesterday and she recommended I use hip organic formula, this will be the 3rd if not the 4th brand I try with my DS.. he is just not liking the taste.. if that doesn’t work then I am going to try NAN.. Where can I get hip organic formula from? I havnt seen them in the supermarket. Thanks, FM
