Did anyone notice an approximately 100 Meter slick of brown sludge in the water on the beach this weekend? (Around Umm Suqeim area) Did not look nice at all!

Thank you - but one major question I have is what type of smell did you have? No it was not sewer smell, predominantly. Most people identified it as a moldy smell.

We spent nearly 5 months with this issue in our villa. The main unit is 40 years old and was smelly very bad. LL maintenance tried cleaning it 4 times. We had a professional cleaner come in and do all of the AC ducts to be sure it was not mold. Nothing they did fixed the problem and LL took a very hard line by trying to blame it on us; moldy carpet, cat food, spilled chemicals etc etc etc. LL ignored DH emails and phone calls for three weeks and only agreed to replace the coils in the AC unit after we had an engineer/inspector come and say it was a health hazard. DH then threatened to call DEWA and police. After replacing the 40 year coils, all is fine now, but what a HUGE battle it took for us to agree to get LL to spend any money to fix it.

Spouses working is a little confusing, as when you are a dependent, you receive a Visa that clearly say "Not Allowed to Work." However it happens all of the time, and by law all that has to happen is your dependent (husband) needs to give you permission to work. Then you are fine. What does your husband do?

Does anyone have the number for RERA?? I still cannot find it!!:\: Had a similar situation and wanted to get a hold of RERA. I found one number from their website and wasted three hours dialing, waiting on hold, phones ringing out, or transferred to different departments. As someone mentioned, you need to do there in person to get any help.

How old? Are you overweight? Do you do a lot of physical activity? Aches and pains can be symptoms of other serious illnesses. In general, a healthy person should not experience aches and pains until much later in life.

If I knew he had no family here I wouldn't hesitate in handing it over. He is probably a danger to his own family. Turning him in could possibly help them in the long run.

Garden Lover can I ask who the RE Company is? Maybe don't name them if you want to be cautious but give their initials. Isn't one of the favorite games on EW, for someone to disguise the name of someone they don't want to implicate, and then the next 10 posts are people chiming in to guess who the culprit is? In light of the fact they have done a u-turn of their position, me thinks I might let this sleeping dog lie...for the moment.

and your contract is registered? Not sure actually. Contract is definitely not written by them. But this is a major real estate company we are dealing with. The man on phone did not even ask about us or contract. He just said to call RERA. Was never able to get RERA to pick up the phone in over an hour of regular dialing.

Possible progress made. DH called head of LL maintenance on different mobile, and he actually picked up. (he seemed surprised it was DH) After dropping gentle hints that there was a very serious discrepancy in the maintenance report submitted by them, and what we were told by the inspecting engineer on his visit. This seemed to make him listen a bit, especially when DH mentioned RERA. 8 men showed up, and for ten minutes they tried to bluff their way that the problem was not LL's. They kept saying "It was our fault for not running the unit so that it came on regularly." DH had his facts and by remaining cool, saying how much we loved villa and how good we were as tenants and saying we do not want to go to police, they finally agreed to refurbish the entire unit. What an ordeal I would not wish on anyone!

This is not for the faint hearted. On the phone for 90 minutes this AM. Ejari does not provide help with this. 6 calls to different RERA numbers all handling me somewhere else. The last number 8004488 has been says lines are busy try again for the last 20 minutes. LL and Maintenance company are not picking up their phones. Or take messages and never call back. I need to know what RERA requires as a report. It probably needs to be an official RERA Engineer?

......that many little girls are crazy about her. Maybe that would stop her from saying effffing this and effffing that so many times in her concerts. From what we all now about the power of music and youth and rebellion, this is very likely the reason kids are crazy about her. Marketing knows exactly what they are doing with her. It is mega business after all.

The latest is that LL is blaming it on us as we have not been keeping our AC at 24 Degrees, which is what is causing the mold to grow.

Nothing specific in the contract about maintenance responsibilities or amounts, but this villa is one of many in a compound and they have a service company providing maintenance. Which is a huge problem because with issues like this, the blame game happens with every major issue...... LL accusing maintenance company it is their problem and vice versa. As issues go on, people don't answer their phones anymore and NEVER answer your emails. Beyond frustrating, especially when it is your main AC and your health at issue. They just don't care.

Canadian Cleaning is another, though they came and quoted our three bedroom and Guaranteed they would get rid of the bad smell from our AC. They were very thorough, came back when I asked them to have another look, but at the end of it all were not able to get rid of the smell.

DH and I have driven by these several times and scratched our heads at the plan. The living rooms are a few meters away from major roads and intersections. No fences or bushes block the view. Standing traffic and car fumes, it seems, would be a regular feature of your new digs.
