Thanks for your replies. I've just tracked the package on DHL website and it was delivered on the 18th but I've had no credit card transaction go through. Will wait a few more days and then try to contact them.

Yes I used DHL to courier the application, but have not received a text. I'll track it with DHL first then. Thank you

Hi, If anyone has recently renewed their passport through Dusseldorf could you tell me if receipt of your application was acknowledged in any way? Or perhaps I'm being thick and can't see a tracking system on the website, is there one? Thank you

I was there and they were quite busy. Got a box just to try it but I do think it's expensive for what you get.

I know this sounds horrible on my part but I would not get involved at all. I would not confront a mother whose child is not buckled up. Anon, this is something I feel so strongly about and yet I see it so many times every day at nursery and school and on the road while driving, and yet I've never said anything to another parent not using seatbelts. So I'm the same as you. I know I'd like to say something but I want to do it in an effective way.

I've not been able to find the information on the school websites to compare, hence my original post. What did you do in the end to compare the US / British or find the information for your chosen curriculum?

Prime Medical Centre, I think Deira is the branch my DH went to. Excellent treatment at a fraction of the cost of some of the dentists he'd being seeing on Beach Road. I have used Dr Madhu myself in an emergency and he fantastic. Search on here for his number as I don't have to hand at the moment but if you can't find it just post back here if you need it. Neither of us have had any problems relating to our treatments.

For a 5 and a half year old? My child has quite a severe open bite (not over bite) from thumb sucking. The pediatric othordontist has advised speech therapy while we wait for the permanent teeth to come in before orthodontic intervention. He obviously can't make any of the sounds that requires closing the front teeth together and people who don't know him say he is quite difficult to understand. Thanks

Thanks for your replies. I've just mailed Dr McEwan (as I'm a patient of his). Aroha, I did a google search on the natural remedy you mentioned but couldn't find much info. Was it suggested to you by a doctor and have you tried it? Has anyone tried a homeopathic approach to treating recurring tonsillitis?

and maybe melatonin but the last time I looked it wasnt available over the counter in Dubai - it is oman though. I give it to my son and its used in the Uk for people with sleep issues. I've tried it when we went to NZ and slept like a log. Yes I forgot about Melatonin. I have bought it over the counter in Dubai and it did work. Unfortunately it game me blinding headaches which the doctor said is very rare so maybe that would work for dh.

Obviously some things work better for different people and there are varying degrees of insomnia, unfortunately I've had them all. If you're not heading straight for the sleeping pills you do have to commit to making some changes and expect it to take at least a couple of days to be effective. Try this No tv, computers 2 hours before bed Warm bath Warm milk Burn lavendar incense or oils in the rooms you're in Read a book Valerian root supplements did work for me during a mild case of insomnia. You could research it. I used the Solgar brand. If this doesn't work for dh there are antihistamines he could try Which induce sleep as a side effect or a mild sleeping tablet to break the cycle. Both of these should be discussed with a doctor. The antihistamines made me feel like a bit of a zombie after a while and the sleeping tabs could be habit forming so it really is a short term solution but might work for him.

I called 9 different agents this morning and have managed to speak to ...... 2 of them! Prices between 160/170k with no negotiating as the landlords have already dropped their prices! I'm amazed at the prices, and even more amazed at the agents!

I know.... I spent the best part of a weekend with a short list of 3 pages of ads off dubizzle and property finder trying to find a 3 bed with maids. A lot of the adverts did say the property had a maids room and when you call it's an "error". Agents have a lot of villa's without maids rooms. I have found 1 in springs for 170k, and 2 in Ranches at the same price. I'm really surprised at the rentals being asked!

Thanks aroha, I do need a maids room though as there would not be bathroom facilities downstairs if the study was used as a maids room. I'll do a drive around anyway to get numbers but would still like to hear from those who've recently rented a villa with maids room.

wuffles - he actually would be a great help to have around. Very organised (did I just say that?!?) and hands on and I do understand his disappointment but I just think it will be a great big mess if I try to change it now, especially with the holidays coming up next week. Can he compromise and work a partial day? Go in early-change the time of his meeting if he has one etc??? Worl late after the party? Nope - it's a huge audit. There is no way he cannot be at work. I suppose I'm just really cross because if I don't change it there is going to be a bad feeling about the party instead of it being fun and exciting leading up to the party.I don't think he will make me feel bad but I will anyway because I know he was looking forward to it and wanted to be there. Well, the decision on my part is made, party plans will not change but I'm really disappointed because this situation was avoidable.

Totally agree janesul, but of course I'm being unreasonable. Sometimes I think men forget that wives are not staff members and we do say no to them! Izzy, it's a big deal that's why everyone needs to be available on a Saturday so no he can't swap or call in sick. Aaargh, I know they're his children and the party is for our kids and they would want their dad there but I'm not changing it. He says we should give it some thought and discuss it later!

So we've taken 3 weeks to decide on a birthday party date for our children, invited 50 kids for this Saturday and DH has just realised he needs to be at work. Something he knew about for ages but had forgotten about. I just received the phone call asking me to change the date. Not to mention it's the only weekend date granny will be in town for the birthday party. I think he should just deal with it! Just realised maybe this is in the wrong section but haven't seen a rant forum and too peeved to care.

Absolutely freaking nowhere that counts until I get a new passport. When I applied embassy said 2 months, week later they called to say 4 months. Now it is estimated SIX months. So upset all holidays booked and paid for are out the window. Right rant over.......... Everyone else's plans sounds great! Enjoy them and appreciate them!

My 5 just 5 year old seems to have gone deaf overnight and I feel like I reprimand him all day long! can't be nice for him and it exhausts me. So I'm trying to work out which 3 or 4 things I can reward him for daily, without it being too difficult for him to achieve and link it to something he can be rewarded for daily ie. tv / ipad time etc. This shouldn't be too hard for me to work out but I feel like I don't have a clear head at the moment and am so frustrated with the constant ignoring, not listening, whinging and tantrums! He used to be such a pleasure!

When I had my baby there 2 years ago they seemed to put nearly every baby in NICU. I had a problem free pregnancy and a scheduled C-section so assumed that I would be shown my baby upon delivery start to feed asap. This was not the case and my baby did have several genuine issues when she was born. She was taken straight to NICU without me seeing her and DH went with her. I was stitched up and taken to recovery where I remained for 4 hours because there was no available room in the maternity suites. Thereafter I was taken to the general ward and only 8 hours after delivery was taken to my private room. At this point I had still not seen my baby and DH was with her. I had an idea in my head that everything would go as planned and was so disappointed and down when it didn't. In the end baby was absolutely fine, she was exclusively breastfed but I had to fight tooth and nail for that to happen and there was no issue of not bonding because she was not with me. So it all worked out fine but it was not a fairytale story!

Also know someone who did that Freckles. In addition to maxing out loans and credit cards they renewed their lease days before leaving, cashed the rent bank loan and took the rent money too. No one has even tried to find them yet!

Miss Balamory, I'm interested to know what made you seek treatment from an osteopath for your son. Was it specifically related to sleeping issues? Thanks Gemm
