I don't get it then. You weren't advised to use one for your baby's health so why use one?

Where were you advised to use only non bio and no fabric softener. You are aware that if you use non bio powder, it contains more bleach than ordinary powder. I only ever used regular detergent for both of mine and never had any issues.

I totally agree that you need to give them access to your bathroom, but only on the two days they are meant to be working in your garden. I think that you really need to take control of the situation and explain that you only expect them two days a week and that is all you are expecting them to do. Anthing extra they feel they need to come a do, should be agreed with you in advance, no turning up on the door step unanounced.

I would still be honest. They could try and end your employment when they find out. Also if you were my employee I'm afraid I would be wondering about your honesty and trustworthiness. Sorry. If they really want you they'll keep you on and allow you to have your baby and then come back. Whatever you decide to do - Good Luck

Personally I would be honest with them and tell them up front. They will definitely find out when you have to refuse the x-ray for your medical.

I assume she means Airmiles, no annual charge on credit cards, free withdrawals from ATM's, that sort of thing. A lot depends on what type of perks you are looking for?

I am looking for recommendations within in Dubai, a company that will pack and unpack, not necessary the cheapest, but someone really good. ProMove. We used them in June and it was the easiest and best move we have ever done. I literally sat with my feet up most of the day :) They did everything and everything ended up moved to it's right place in the new property. http://promove.ae/

Geordie Expat - we were led to believe everything was on track, filled in the million forms etc, and went off on holiday with no worries. Came back to a call from Deveres in Abu Dhabi, saying that everything is now being run from Abu Dhabi, and , when asked, had no idea about the pension. Then they tried to say that the rules had changed and we hadn't filled in the correct forms, but we had already completed the forms he then sent by email. So they were the correct forms initially anyway. Didn't fill me with confidence at all. From what he was saying PIC in Dubai , who we were dealing with, has closed. PIC are definitely still operating in Dubai. They have moved offices to The Marina area

Thanks sh12, but guess which company let us down??!!! Lally, the big advantage to moving our pension is that, should anything happen to my husband (his is the much bigger pension pot), I can still have the money. If we leave it in UK and anything happens, I lose it! Geordie Expat - who did you use?? We also use PIC (******* as was), my pot has doubled and my DHs almost the same :)

You will probably hear good and bad about anyone mentioned but we didn't have a good experience with them. I took advice when back in the UK in the summer and because I am planning to retire back to the UK, was advised to leave it where it was. There didn't seem to be enough advantages to moving it off-shore for me. If anyone can give the pros and cons to moving it off-shore in easy to understand language (!), I would love to hear them. We have used an excellent guy here and the advantage for us is as follows. We can use the money as we wish when we retire, also it means when one of us goes first the person left is guaranteed to have access to everything in the others pension pot. Also we have been able to pick and choose where we have invested the money we originally transferred and also any bonus received.

Why not try a British owned company such as MustHave Maintenance, then at least the guys on the phone know what you're talking about to start with.

Sarahlou123 Not everyone has blond hair, many women have dark hair in Dubai. I know blond color is tricky so you are right in paying more to avoid disaster. I am talking about a normal color, a simple trim or a quick manicure. Why would someone pay double for this? If everyone was going as per recommendation only, these small salons will be out of business. Not everybody can pay this high price. One thing we are not paid "white or western package", secondly we are not blonds. Even a quick trim can go wrong out here !!!!

Why do I smell advertising in this thread? SLaM is an over rated salon in my opinion. It's just an other high end salon, ripping off client, spending on marketing/advertising and we are paying cost of that as well. Why do people just want to pay double for the similar service, just because Someone is more "talked about". When "Everyone" knows about something, that means their marketing is really doing good job. It is not possible, that all woman from EW go to same salon, and all are happy about the service. There are few like mine, who prefer to keep their mouth shut for some reason and don't brag about "accident" that happened at the same very "talked about" salon. I am just sick and tired of seeing posts saying, " you get what you pay for". This can not be implemented here. There are extremely expensive and bad salons in Jumeirah yet there are some good and economical salons in Deira or Bur Dubai also. I used to pay 150 Dhs for the haircut, my same hairdresser moved to some salon in Jumeirah. Suddenly her prices were up by double.... Why on earth I would pay double price to same person, for same service? I cannot count the amount of cheaper salons here that don't have a clue how to colour blond hair and slap neat bleach on your hair and then it ends up falling out in clumps! I will pay slightly more for a good hairdresser and Ali is a very good hairdresser with whom I have had never had any disasters ( When she was at Salon Ink and now at Slam) I am fortunate as a friend does mine at home and it costs me peanuts but when I have to go to a salon and will go and see her. The proof is in the pudding and if I have to pay more than so be it. Maybe others have had "accidents" however I never have so I will continue to see her. People will always go to salons based on recommendations, that's Dubai. I'm with Saralou on this one. Yes if my hairdresser moved I would pay extra just to stay with her.

I have the same girl every time for both cut and colour. Simple fact is they know that I always book with her and I wouldn't use anyone else. And yes it is Holly. GE, Both times I booked Holly, She introduced me to a new girl, sayin she will do the job. . I have nothing against her or yo... it's jsut that I am extremely unhappy and felt humiliated the way I was treated both these times. Dubai has too much competition, there should be no place for bad customer service. I don't have an answer for that, but what I will say is why didn't you just make sure she was aware that you weren't happy by saying no. That would have been my response and I certainly would not have let a new girl touch my hair.

I don't recommend Essential Salon at all if, all the good hairdressers left from there and now they have new girls who seems just "out of training" and learning skills on you. Meteor Garden salon is using sub standard products and no hygiene for skin or nails. I tried only nails there once, at the same time saw result of hair color they were doing..... I ran and never went back there. Have not tried other salons so cannot say anything. Strange how the girl I see at Essentials has been there for a number of years then. Yes there are some new girls, but I haven't ued them and therefore wouldn't recommend them.

Fairydust, there is a massive difference between someone from the UK who [b'>chooses [/b'> a career in the Army compared to a refugee fleeing a civil war with lunatics on both sides. When western soldiers return they have homes to go to, healthcare, money from the government and a chance of gaining employment in other careers. What have the Syrians got to go home too? 80% of all businesses have gone, the economy won't recover for decades. Children are not being educated. Their homes have been bombed, its a mess. If the west is not to blame for this mess.....who is? I beg to differ on your second paragraph!! Shockingly, ex-service personnel account for one in 10 rough sleepers across the UK. And charities have warned that the problem of homelessness among former soldiers, sailors and airmen is a “ticking time bomb” which will only get worse if urgent action isn’t taken. Yesterday Simon Weston OBE, who suffered serious burns in the Falklands War, accused the Government of “betraying” veterans after learning of the disturbing numbers without a home.

It would be unwise to bring large amounts of Syrian refugees to the UAE. They are performing military operations in areas many of the people come from. How do they know they won't bring in militants into the country? This nation has its own security to be concerned with first. What if "IS" barbarians start entering the country and start bombing the place here? Will they still be able to raise hundreds of millions of dirhams in aid for Syria, Yemen, and the many other countries the UAE supports? No they won't. And the people calling the loudest for the leadership to take the actions THEY think should be taken will be packed up by their embassies and flown home leaving this country to pick up the pieces. We have seen what is now happening in Saudi and Kuwait. Do we need that here? There is a reason we are living in a safe and prosperous country, because the leadership here acts out of knowledge you and I don't have. I wonder though, how many of the people who shout the loudest about OTHERS not doing anything, are actually doing anything productive themselves. In an ideal situation, they could open the doors and allow anyone in who needs it. But there are already people here, who came not as refugees but on tourist visas. And again, there needs to be a balance between helping others in need while also maintaining security in your country. And that is probably not an easy task, but let the ones who are in charge don what they need to do. And let's be fair, a very small percentage of refugees actually is in Europe, the majority are in neighbouring Arab countries. One can say the same thing about the European nations. I completely agree with you Tallybalt

Only ever used Essentials in all the time I've been here and never ever had one complaint about either cut or colour  With all due respect GE, the reason you never had complaint could be..... You never tried "better" ppl. It's been a long time, I have stopped going there. Inly reason because they were close to my house. Sorry, I can't take this **** any more :sleepy: I'll answer your post. Prior to going to Essentails I had not had a decent hair cut for 18 months !!! It had got to the point where I was planning on flying back to the UK for a decent cut and colour. I travel a good way to get there and definitely would only leave if my hairdresser does. And "with all due respect" madam..... when you get to my age you are very particular who you let loose on your hair !!!!!

We don't have an issue with my car being in DH name, or the insurance. The only problem that would arise is if anything happened to him, I would be without the car as it's all in his name. Sorry can't help with how you would change it, but call the RTA place at Al Barsha and I'm sure they could help.
