Thanks for suggestions. Was just looking for the ones you can get off the shelf in any Tesco, Asda etc. Can get lots of skin whitening moisturizers but really struggling with tanning ones! Cheap and cheerful and they work really well on my dry skin...:) edited by gingercat on 04/10/2011

Can't seem to find any nurseries that open early enough for me! I need one to open at 6.30am as I am a teacher and need to be at school around 7am. Eekk....might have to look into a nanny after all...

Hello Ladies. I am 13 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I know it's very early days yet but was just wondering which nurseries near Executive Towers/Downtown area would take a baby that young? Are places easily available? I'm a teacher so would be looking for five days a week 6.30am - 4.30pm during term time only. Do nurseries even open that early? How much approx should I expect to pay? Like I said, very early days but just want to get my head around things early on....don't have a clue about any of this stuff but know that I do not want to get a nanny. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Citymax is advertising rooms for less than 200 dhs a night at the moment. It's a budget hotel but lovely and clean, a couple of bars/restaurants, nice rooms, a pool and right beside MOE.

You poor thing! Internal exams are horrible. I've had my fair share over the past few months. Hello.Again.Kitty is right. At eight weeks an internal is not necessary. I had an external (with an empty bladder might I add) at just over 6 weeks and saw the baby and the heartbeat. Contact City Hospital and book an appointment with Doctor Elsa or any of the Doctors that these ladies suggest. Explain what has happened and just ask for an external scan. I've had two miscarriages already this year and have come to realise that Doctors don't always know best and don't always takes patient concerns seriously. Always get a second opinion if you are not happy. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy hun xx

If they would like an apartment in a brand new complex in a central location, they would get a lovely 3 bed apartment in Executive Towers for that. We are in a very spacious 3 bed for 90000 for 14 months rent. There are also a lot of three beds in the Marina in that price range. They would also easily get a three bed villa in the Springs-there are plenty of nice ones for that price, many of my friends live there and love it. A little further out is Al Waha/Layan but they would get great value for their money. Mirdif is also very affordable. I hope they find what they are looking for! :)

I'm due in March too! Due on March 16th with first baby. Have had two miscarriages so far this year so am really hoping for third time lucky! I am 10 weeks and 2 days today. Have had a very eventful pregnancy so far. Was told initially I had a suspected blighted ovum! Luckily I got a second opinion and baby is doing well so far! Have had lots of scares, spotting every day (which is how my other miscarriages started so kept freaking out) and had a big bleed on August 5th but this little baby is stubborn and hanging on! I was at home in my home country for all the drama and had my first scan with Dr. Elsa in city hospital last Tuesday. (She helped me through my last miscarriage and was amazing) Baby measured ten weeks, got to hear the heartbeat (probably the best sound of my life) and baby even gave a jump! Obviously terrified to tell anyone in case something happens, but growing a little more confident each day, taking comfort in the fact that this little one is obviously a little fighter! Morning/all day sickness kicked in around 6 weeks. Get really strong waves of nausea where I think I am going to throw up but have actually only vomited once. Smells usually set me off or if I leave it too long too eat. I'm off my food too...eating about half of what I would normally eat. (Which is probably no harm!) Finding it hard to relax completely after two miscarriages in a row but trying to remain positive. City Hospital have been amazing...I think the ER staff must know me by name now! It's been wonderful to deal with people who take your concerns seriously and don't try to fob you off. I'm so happy with City Hospital and Michelle, Dr. Elsa's nurse is AMAZING!!!! Hoping we all have happy, healthy pregnancies! xxx

Road is completely closed to Dubai mall as you all know by now I'm sure. Any other way to get there and back missing the Salik. Can't seem to get a way home that doesn't take me half the day! :) If only they would open up our access to the road with 8 Boulevard walk.......

Our spaces are mentioned in our contract. I don't understand how this can happen. In my old building people just parked in their own spaces. I've never had this problem every single day. The odd time, someone would park in your space but a quick note would fix it. But to rip down notes and throw them on the ground?...grrrr!

Hi Ladies. Am new to Executive Towers. Loving it so far but.....wondering why people keep parking in our spaces? I put up signs on the pillars beside the spaces to no avail. One person even ripped them down! It's in our contract that we have these two spaces on the ground floor but I haven't had a chance to park in them yet. I know I can drive around and eventually find a space but it's annoying when we were told we would have two allocated spaces for our 3 bed apartment. We are in Tower C. Any thoughts?

Is it possible to bring them back to where you got them? They will have a shoe stretcher. I've had several pairs stretched here from regular high street shops e.g. Dune, Aldo (My feet are a little wide it seems!) so if the shop where you bought them is not an option, try any other shoe shop. Just smile and ask really nicely. Worth a shot! :)

Wow...the Empower costs a lot! Have not agreed anything with Landlord yet or signed contract so hopefully might be able to agree on Landlord paying it....spoiled at the moment as we only pay DEWA in our current place. When we viewed ET, the agent said the Empower would only be around 200 dhs a month...should have seen that one coming!! ;)

Hi Ladies! Hubby and I are moving in to ET on July 1st. Went driving around after work today to get a feel for the place. Managed to find the way to Dubai mall (without Salik) but can't find the way back. Any directions? Also any idea when the gym will be opening? Is it possible to walk to the mall? (when it is cooler obviously) How much should I expect DEWA/Empower bills etc to be per month. (3 bed + maids) Approx?? Also, when I visited last night the pool nearest our building said it is closed at 6pm. (We will be in C Tower 3) Is this always the case? Thanks in advance and looking forward to meeting you all! :)

Thanks Kelly! Well we viewed an amazing apartment in executive towers yesterday for 95000 with two months free rent so we are going to go for it!! It's 5000 less than Shoreline and much more spacious. It has a great view of the fountains so we are very happy. For us, I think it is much better value as it's a three bed plus maids. :)

Hi. We are thinking of moving into one so I have a few questions. 1. How many car parking spaces come with a two bed + maids? I think it's only one...what do you do if you have more tha one car? Is there visitor parking? 2. How busy do the gyms get..as they are shared between so many buildings? 3. How expensive are the cooling charges + DEWA...i.e. roughly how much are your bills per month. Torn between Shoreline and Executive towers so trying to get all the infor before I make up my mind. Thanks in advance! Feel free to add any other info which you feel is important! Have looked at the apartments so happy with lay-out, size etc in Shoreline but Executive Towers are amazing...just all that mess outside...What are your thoughts? :)

Talise Spa in Al Qasr and Amara Spa in Park Hyatt. Both fab and you can use facilities for the day AND are in Dody Book Entertainer. Best value I think: Signature 1 hour massage in Talise is 500dhs for two with voucher and 1 hour hot stone massage is 800 dhs ish for two in Amara. Have been to both and had both treatments...FAB....bargain with vouchers.Enjoy! :)

Have flown with Lufthansa and Turkish airlines. Lufthansa is better I thought but they are both fine. Make sure you check the changeover time for Turkish airlines as some of the cheap flights only allow one hour (not enough) or a very lone time. Food, entertainment (individual tvs) on both airlines were fine. At the end of the day you'll get home safely and for far cheaper than other airlines so go for it! :)

Yes, my football team did bootcamp there last summer. It's only 1.5km so you might be better off going to Safa for a longer run. At least if you do only one lap of Safa it's a decent run...just under 3.5km. Trained for the RAK and Dubai half marathon there in the evenings. Can be a little darkish around the back but there's always lots of other runners there. Love those running tracks..beats hard ground and dodgy knees any day! :) edited by gingercat on 05/06/2011

Wow Lady Bubbles! That was fast! Thanks for the response. Both are rescued cats which will be returning home with us (whenever that is) and are the perfect pets. I can't see how they would bother anyone. (Obviously except visitors with allergies...sorry :) I understand the whole thing with dogs barking, pooping etc. Thanks for your speedy response. Glad to know there is someone living there already who has no trouble.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Waiting a week before going for a D and C on Saturday. Our Doctor is kindly letting us have one more scan on Wednesday, if anything just so we can see for ourselves that there is definitely no heartbeat. So just waiting for nature to take it's course until then. You've all been so kind and I am so glad that I posted. Thank you xxx

You just never know in April...From many years experience, I would suggest bringing lots of layers so you can peel off as necessary. And a raincoat! :) My sister's kids had a week off school last March because of the snow so you just never know weather-wise, though usually towards the end of April we often get a nice bit of sunny, dry weather. Usually the only bit of decent summer we get! I'm heading home on the 1st of April for 2 weeks and can't wait. Hail, rain or shine, I plan to have a ball! :)
