In business world, to be in the position of negotiating about the cost and accepting offers, it's important to understand the person you are negotiating with, its called business negotiating skills. What those clients are doing is not negotiating it's stereotyping, out of the blue pop a personal question like that, so they *think* they are going to win you or understand what bases you are, these people don't have the skills to do the negotiating, they just being smart areses! I understand your frustration from the question been dropped like a slap on the face, just ignore the question and move forward with your presentation or business plan, if this ignorant kept asking it, just tell him you are doing business here and not getting acquainted with him/her. If the question about the nationality of the staff kept piping up, simply show that your company is conducting training to ensure that all staff are equally qualified to do the task. Being in customer service makes [u'>some people[/u'> *think* they owned this or that customer service employee, they can make him/her lower than them, make fun of them, or even show off on them, you will find some will try to make you make mistakes to hold it on you, so they can get more what they pay for from the company you are working for. you have every right to feel angry, but dealing with this type of smart arses clients need experience and training, and more of this patience from your side, after all the moment you sign off from work, you left these clients in the office, don't get them with you to your home, you need to separate what happen at work as not personal insult - I know it's personal - but you need to separate it, so you can live your life away from the office. I believe that everyone have his/her own problems and grieves, which they choose to encounter it or suffer it in their own way, me myself I did have a neighbour that had a baby was the same age of my DS, unfortunately her baby died aged only 2 weeks, I can't tell you that she choose to move homes and not to know me, as every time she see me or see my son she would remember what she lost, I did understand this, and it's not about me at all, and I respect this.

Wow! I did read on so many blogs about cats, and in several time poped up using the water gun to stop cat(s) from scratching leather sofa or carpets or tearing curtains....etc.. now everybody assumed this is a mother cat? now everybody thinks that I have no heart? everybody wants to serve me well!!!! seriously grow up a little, if you have that kind heart, why not each one of you who cares about mother nature go and re-home this cat and what assumed have kittens? Right none of you wants to take responsibility, but ready to jump to accuse me of not having a heart?!!! I do foster couple of cats and have my own cats, I do have responsibility toward the cats in my neighbourhood, but each one of you sitting there have nothing better to do, judging others and then think they are very good women - LOL for that - well, if you don't like me fine, I don't care about any one opinion, I gave the advice, and each are welcome to take or just leave it, I did not ask each one of you to do so, someone asked the question and as like any other poster I give the advise I did not force any of you to take it, but still each one is hiding behind her screen, having her botox, asking about the new restaurants offer brunches, letting the maid do the chores, kids are in their summer camps, husbands are at their jobs, checking out the latest hair dressers in town, and judging the whole world based on their ivory tower they are living in. I really don't care about any of you, go ahead and thumb down me, at least I know that each one who keeps thumbing me down is just have nothing better to do in her life but waiting for my comments to rate it down, in fact that shows how you have nothing better to do just sitting on this board. this is my last input, so go ahead, say what you want, rate as much as you want, I don't care, I have my life and you are just lurking over here to rate others. Grab a life.

Yesterday when I was walking my dog, he came to close to a street cat and it tried to scratch my dog. This morning walking the same route the same cat jumped on my dog screaming and properly attacking him. My dog is the sweetest thing and does nothing to defend himself, so I have to pull him away with the leash. Where can I report this cat, as I'm worried about diseases? Have children water gun - the small one - fill it with water, then take your own rout as usual, then once this particular cat try to approach him squeeze the water gun toward the cat, do the same for a week, then this cat will mind it's own business after that, just seeing the water gun - no need to spray anymore - will just remind that cat to stay away from your do. I always bake cupcakes for sending to the class, thats how I know exactly what inside the cupcakes, I don't have nuts or chocolates, so I write the contents and give it to the teacher, it's rather this or goody bags to take home, with goody bags I always have things that every child will be happy with, nothing noisy and nothing difficult to manage, and everybody is going home happy. for the cupcakes I make the icing myself, so I know what is inside the icing as well. Making cupcakes is so easy, and there are recopies if you search on the internet, HTH

Gorobattie I don't think it's the same situation at all - one is a clearly published rule of your community, the other is a difference of opinion between tenants as to what is acceptable regarding noise/swimming pools. Anyway, in answer to your question, the following allow/are set up for children/bikes: - Al Barsha Pond Park - Mushrif Park (miles of cycle track) - Nad Al Sheba bike park - Al Qudra bike track There are also various parks which may not allow you to take your own bikes in (would have to check) but do have their own bikes for hire (Creek Park/Safa Park/Jumeirah Open Beach). - Al Barsha Pond Park - Mushrif Park (miles of cycle track) - Nad Al Sheba bike park - Al Qudra bike track All what you mentioned are for Adults cyclers, NOT for children one of them with trainer wheels. Still, now you are telling me to take the bikes, load them in a car, then drive all that far, JUST for kiddy bike ride?!! you must be joking, or maybe you just having fun in mentioning that, these tracks are for cyclers who are doing this sport daily, as part of their lives or preparing for races, kiddy bikes are not going there, and no, I won't leave the compound park to go all the way there, wither you like it or not, what I am saying in the first place that we all pay money to be able to live where we are and use the facilities that are part of what every body pay, you just deviated from the main thing I was proving my point, why pay money for something you won't use? or even worse, to be told how to use this facility even thou you had paid full price to use it.

I have a new so called management in the compound I live in, and they have the sign says no bicycle inside the common area, which is stupid in my own opinion, I have children under 10 and where should I let them ride their bikes? in the streets?! I wouldn't, so I found the security is telling me sorry mam you can not bring bikes inside new management new rule! I just told him I am sorry but I will bring the bikes inside and sorry for your new management new rule, the conversation just kept between me and him repeating the same sentences until he just give up and could't do anything and I went inside with the bikes. Gorobattie, this is not the same situation as the OP who is having problems with a difference of opinion with one particular tenant. In your case those are the actual community rules. I think the security also is stuck and just following instructions. Poor guy. Its the same situation as OP, and if you both think its community rules, where do you think I should take my kids to ride their bikes? don't tell me I don't know, you can see the crazy drivers on the streets and public parks do not give little children the chance to ride bikes inside, so where do you both * think* its suitable for 5 and 7 years old to ride bikes? *thinks* as much as you want, still you won't answer the question, intact you will attack me and my opinion.

I suggest you have a look at your tenancy contract if it involve anything referring to the usage of public areas in the compound, this should do. Regarding its only ONE tenant that makes all the noise, well...if everybody is p!ssed off with that tenant, forget about this, just don't receive any letter from that tenant, let that tenant have the hustle of complaining to the LL about what he/she/ they keep complaining, sooner or later this tenant will get himself out of that compound... If security approached you, like what the other neighbour said, just brush the security off, I have a new so called management in the compound I live in, and they have the sign says no bicycle inside the common area, which is stupid in my own opinion, I have children under 10 and where should I let them ride their bikes? in the streets?! Simple as that, stand your ground firm as long as you don't do anything wrong or your children are unruly ones. Good luck and ignore the neighbour who thinks the world stop breathing if he/she/they go to sleep.

I feel your pain, the pain killer that helped me then was Ponistan Fort (spl?) They best rule is to have a calendar and have checked which day was the first day of every month, so I can anticipate the pain will start next month from such date, every woman have a different cycle, long or short, so by the first day I walk up in the morning and take one pill of ponistan fort, and I can forget the pain first day, and keep taking 1 pill per day as long as I know what days are the pain will be. Unfortunately my PMS started to fade once I had more than one pregnancy, I went to so many doctors, done my tests and nothing help, it's more about psychological thing, the period pain is the same, but some women can not stand that pain, and by reaching 30s it will be better, I always had my bean bag that I can microwave it, and a nice hot cup of tea or hot chocolate. Try another doctor and have all your results and good luck. Me too was on Ponistan for years...until recently when i tried a Panadol Advance (the blue box) and surprisingly it worked...don't mean to scare you but am a mother of 2 and my periods are still as painful! :( Oh the joys of being a woman! Sometimes I have the pain, only if I had major event, like school assessments, and recently road rage that could trigger PMS with me, so I am not surviving it completely, but I remember when I was in my 20s, oh boy I could be in bed and can't walk or site or do anything, there were one day I remember that I went to the hospital for this!

Can she make a police report about him over here? She won't be in trouble if the pic is a compromising one and it took place in another country, then make a police report in the country he is in? I know it sounds a time consuming process, but I can see he will make her life a constant looking behind her shoulder. I do remember a story about a Lebanese man lives in UAE, was working in KSA and hooked up with saudi girl, then they parted ways, then he knew she is in a relationship with another man going to marry her, then he started threatening her with chats and photos, she traveled to UAE and made a police report about him and the man is facing jail term for 3 years, and nothing happening to the girl as these photos and chats happened outside of UAE, but the threat crime happened on UAE soil, so he is in trouble over here. I think your friend should not listen to a blackmailer, the more she do what he wants, the more trouble she would get herself in, My advice seek a lawyer, not only one, go shopping for lawyers and most of them do free advice All the best.

We used a travel agency to process visas for my inlaws. After 2 weeks of promising to get the visa the next day, it never happened. DH and I went to the immigration office and got the visa ourselves after asking them to cancel the application. This was in Jan. Its not a huge amount but this travel agency has kept making promises to send the refund and never did. The owner now refuses to pick up my calls. On principle, I want to teach this guy a lesson. Is there a small claims court in Dubai? Or should I go to the police station and make a formal complaint? I am fuming...... Don't you think so? I believe you have the answers, I think you will be fine. This is my last input on this topic. <em>edited by Gorobattie on 27/03/2014</em>

Was planning to write to Gulf News in their section where they try to resolve customer grievances. Not sure if that is slandering. I have emails with the company including confirmation of the order, account number, amount to be transferred etc. As to whether the police will get involved - dont know. The shop promised a service, did not deliver, promised to give a refund (that too only partial 'net' of their cost) and then fails to do even that. I would think the police should take it up...... If you have all planed and sorted out, why come over here and ask to what to do? (innocent question)

what did you write in reference of the money transfer? take a copy of that, and go to the police. do you have all the details of that travel agency? how do you wire money to someone/place you never seen or know? specially this place supposed to be in UAE? going to the news paper before police will be treated as slandering, then this person(s) could have a case against you, then it will be like that: you forget about the money and they (may) drop the slander case. Police first.

In that case, I hope they bought the underwear, otherwise that is GROSS! And why would you step into the corridor to have a look? Surely there are mirrors in the cubicles? Dirty exhibitionists... words fail me to understand the idea of what they have done, I didn't notice until they were out talking to each other loudly, then I noticed the tags, then got the shocking truth, they had a whole trolly filled with these underwere in boxes, and as the shop rule only 3 items at a time, so there were 2 shop assistants taking these under were out of the box, removing the security plastic thingy and handing them over to the parading 4 women.

I wasn't intending to see, but they invaded my eyes stepping out with the new bra and panties, yep I could see the big price tags on And that put me off even trying anything, just left what I had picked up after half an hour discussion with 3 assistants, I told them they are by this practice spreading diseases around for free, some of them not only washing will kill the germs/viruses some clothes need ironing after the washing, and these under were are not going to be ironed! <em>edited by Gorobattie on 27/03/2014</em>

I was at brands for less shop, and seen the shop assistants allow shoppers to take under were into the fitting rooms! I asked if any body supervisor or shop manger to speak with this, as I showed this is not hygienic (sorry for grammar mistakes) standard at all, no body is there and only shop assistants so I told them why on earth allow shoppers to try on underwear? then the usual answer it's what the shoppers wants! Just wanted to tell everybody who do shopping there to be aware of this practice.

Ladies, your advice please. I have recently interviewed a few maids for live-in (Sri Lankan) who came with excellent references from their previous employers. I called the references personally. The maids arrived with their husbands for the interview, and asked if the husband could share accommodation. Initially I was very uncomfortable with this, but one of the reference said she preferred this in the end, as the maid stayed home more, and she also recommended the husband. The husbands in both cases would have their own visa, and their own jobs. I have said that the husband would be expected to do the gardening and odd jobs around the house in exchange for the accommodation. I would sponsor the maid on my visa if she were to work for us. I have offered the 2nd maid the job - initially on a trial basis, one to see if she actually turns up, and to see if she works out. Afraid I can't see any related posts. Is having the husband stay a common practice? What advice would you offer to make the situation work? The 2nd maid has said she is on a tourist visa, with 2 weeks remaining - do I need her to do a visa run, while I begin processing the visa? Thank you! It's illegal to hire someone to do the odd jobs while they are sponsored by someone else. It's illegal to have the maids husband stay in your home while he is not sponsored by you.

AudreyFB, my advice: take print out of all emails and correspondents regarding this teacher, take your sons academic reports with you and make a formal complain against the school and the teacher with MoE and KHDA. Then go to the school and tell them you have complains already lodged with moe and KHDA, and watch magic happen.

Our maid lives out, she's of Thursday 4 pm until Sunday 7 am. If we have guests or a party I'll ask her to come in for a couple of hours and usually compensate that time during the week. LOL! your maid then have 3 days off and work 4 days :) thats so kind. lol! <em>edited by Gorobattie on 23/03/2014</em>
