we had been invited for a function and went to the vault....loved the interior and the seating inside it, I don't know if this is the norm or only that night, but there were canapé and mini cupcakes and it was yummy :) the door looks like a vault door by the way :)

Quite unique situation there GB, are you sure it is in fact a cat not a leopard or cougar? The maid didn't get near this cat did she? I don't have a maid, and hadn't hire agency one since we had the 2 cats, just to give confidence to them and not to add to their stress of new home and new faces. another twist: the girl that I called her finally returned the call and said she doesn't want him, as she already have 2 cats. since then he is in the garden, it seems he is more calm, as he roams most of the day, and in the evening he comes over and stay there. I couldn't just leave it this way, I did gave him food and water, he just gave the threatening meaw, that is deeper as a meaw and ends with a growl, after that I just placed the breakfast and left.

Not really the most helpful of suggestions, Lolacat?!? Where should the OP just "get rid" of this cat to? Cats generally don't just become aggressive for no reason. Was he like this from day one, or has he suddenly turned like this? Is there a possibility that he's in pain, i.e. has been injured or something, and is lashing out because of this? Is he used to being around children? How do your little ones handle him? Could there have been some poking or tail pulling perhaps when you weren't looking, and he was hurt by it, hence the spitting and scratching now? Can you go back to whomever you got them from and get a more detailed history from them? There are also some great products available from your vet which help calm distressed animals, including Feliway spray or diffuser, so it's worth talking to the vet as well. Hope you find a happy solution quickly! I believe you are right about his background, the girl who rescued them, said they were found in a public park and children were stoning them, and the girl family do not have little children, only a cousin who is 7 years old and he is nice to them and they are nice to them. both cats were living a very secured life after that, then the girl she is foster for cats, and I am waiting until she turn the phone call.

Update about simba the boy cat, He did attack DS2 again, he was in tears, and when I asked what happened DS1 said that DS2 was trying to play with the girl cat, so he just attacked him while I was in the bathroom. I took both my children to the kitchen and applied first on DS2 and asked both to stay in the kitchen, then wanted to calm down both of them, he likes to be talked to on the same level, so all what I have done was kneeling down to his level, then find the boy cat attacked me while hissing at me, all what I was saying to him is are you okay simba? he charged out of under the table, then started roaming in the living room, and that scared me. I just cleared the living room and brought the carrier to contain him in one place, some will not agree with this, but I had my children to protect, but really he did put up a fight, hissing, growling and jumping on to get me, and all I had was a can of water and a towel to throw it on him to get him inside the carrier.... after a long struggle he was almost in the carrier, but no success....anyway, now he punctured the fly net - well both did some scratches on them and it had been weakened - and got to the garden. The garden have high walls and now I am waiting to the girl who I took them from her in the first place to return my call, as she is a student. After he got to the garden, I felt myself trembling and sweeting like a rhino! I guess he was the same....I feel sad for him, but my first priority is my children..... the girl cat was relieved that he is out, as he was hitting her/ scratching her....like this morning she was sleeping on the bean bag and he just went to her bean bag and attacked her.....when it comes to the litter box, sorry for the description: he doesn't cover his number one or 2...just leaving it like that, so I have to go and clear it myself.... I don't leave the children and the cats unsupervised, I am there all the time, but the late days the boy cat just become unreasonable at all. and that got me more super attentive, even I went more and kept telling him how was nice and cute - and he is - and a lovely boy he is.....but the hissing and scratching and attacking...... I feel sorry for him, he is still in the garden, he made some attempts to come in the house, and the girl cat just come asking for my help - okay some will say cats don't talk - but I felt this from her, then I found him trying to find the opening of the sliding door....

Our daughter is 6 months old and still does not have a Residence Visa. It is so stressful... edited by LaLaLayla on 26/03/2013 Sorry for Hijacking the thread, but why your DD doesn't have residency visa till now? You know that you are placing your self and your family in trouble? As I know baby can stay without residence till the age 4 months....try to speed up this if you can, go yourself to immigration and do it, there is office only for ladies and can do everything in one place, not jumping from teller to teller.... Take care.

I know they are irritating, don't they? That what I did on the last time another company called to offer us things like this: I did receive a phone call from some asking for Mr. Gorobattie's full name, after they dashed all the info about the product, nicely I asked from where they got this number, I couldn't get a straight answer! then I asked about the address of that firm/company, after waiting they got me a website address of a media and survey services company, after looking it up - while I am on the phone, it's them who is paying for the call lol - asked to talk with supervisor, he is in a meeting!!! asked for the higher than him, and they all in a meeting in the lunch break time, at that point the nice and calm voice had been changed to demanding for answers, as from where they have my number, dh's number and his full name and his company!!! the person on the phone wanted to hang up and told me she will ask his supervisor to call back, I told him I know where is the company and this is confidential info and I want to know from where they got it, otherwise the police will get it!! like magic: the manager showed up and told me this info they have it on a spreadsheet and they do not know from where they got it!!! I told the manager the police will find out from where they got it, then this manager told me we give to them on that function, I told him this is a lie as we do not go to such places, then I asked him for his wife's name and her number, he told me it's not my business, I told him exactly! then why he and all these ppl calling us think it's their business knowing my phone, my husband's phone, his name and his work? this man just kept quiet, then I told him he must tell me from where he got this info otherwise the police will get it, as this is privacy preach and this offers are scams, as it's products not available in the market and it's only by them. at that point he couldn't give from where he got this info, but he promised to remove our info from his list/ spreadsheet... then I told him he is not allowed to sell our info to any other party or company, as now I did record this call, I know his name, the company name, and if I got another call from them or any other company selling this products, I will call the police for the new ppl and on this company, as all of them are bothering us. This call took 23 min from beginning to end, after that....I did not receive any phone call offering investments, pension, life insurance, card memberships for hotels , credit cards.....you name it. This was almost 14 months ago. I hope this could help. <em>edited by Gorobattie on 26/03/2013</em>

On ideal world, I would confront the one who is having an affair that I know, and ask him/her to know what they want: either leave the one he/she having affair with, or leave the husband/the wife...and tell the repercussions or either option. then leave this person to decide for him/her self..... BUT! as other posters did post, I would stay away and clear, and prepare to support the one who's trust had been damaged......true no one will say thank you for telling and the cheated one will never talk to me again..... It's a very tricky situation; OP: you know the cheated on person, how they deal with things, you are the only one who can determined if this person can deal with this and do damage control, or the cheated on is a very close relative or friend..... you are the one who can tell, sorry OP, this is a thing is totally up to you to do something or just do nothing at all. It's a dilemma, take care.

corinnad, you don't want to get yourself in trouble by hiring part time maid, in this country it's illegal, so hiring an agency maid, that comes once or twice a week to do the cleaning for you is you best option. sponsoring a maid then telling her she works for you part time, and letting her go around, will land you in much trouble, starting with her being part timing for others, if she is caught; you will pay 100K fine, and banned from sponsoring maid for good, this about you, the maid herself will be deported and banned from returning.

Are you sure the humidifier isn't making things worse? Sometimes they can increase respiratory irritation if you are inhaling too much moisture. Also you need to meticulously clean it regularly - they could actually make you feel quite poorly if not. Try without the humidifier for a few days and have a large bowl with a wide surface area full of water near the bed instead. the freezer do the same job of the humidifier, I know this and done it before, I you really couldn't wait for the steam, open the freezer and inhale the cool freezing air coming out, it do the same trick. If an employee goes on vacation and doesn't return on time, can we report him as absconding? Employee in question believes that if he sits and waits in his own country for 6 months, his visa will automatically be cancelled and he'll be able to come back in and get another job. So not sure if people who abscond while on vacation can be reported. Does anyone know? if the employee returned back after the vacation and did not show up to work after the annual leave, after 7 days of not going to work you can fill the absconding report. if the employee did not return from the annual leave, still you need to wait for 7 days, then go to immigration to cancel the visa, not sure about the absconding report in that case, but the employee in question will be having a ban from working in the country, you can pay 1500 dhs to have the ban for one year. Girls..my husband has had a persistent cough now for weeks..(i have lost count). It is keeping us all awake at night (2hrs sleep if we lucky). The poor guy is exhausted and sore. We have been to the Dr and have been prescribed all sorts of medication (too much to mention), he steams with a respiratory blend and i thought at one stage he had developed asthma..honestly we have tried everything i can think of myself...at one point he was battling to breathe but this seems to have subsided..its more this horrific cough he has...does anyone have any idea where to from here??? Have you tried to wash the pillow itself in the washing machine? wash it and do another cycle of rinsing only after that, let air dry, or place it in the dryer then air it as well, change the side of the mattress after you air it as well, take the bed spread and air it, if it haven't been washed in the last 3 months, please do wash it - not dry cleaning - or just send it to the laundry and ask for washing it as it can't fit in your washing machine.....please do vacuum the room and pay a special attention to under the bed, and vacuum the bed - the head board most important - then wipe with wet towel the bed frame and the headboard....and please if you can mop under the bed if it was on tiles, or just take the carpet to be aired.... this would help him to sleep throw the night, there are germs or even dust mites that could be living in your bedroom, I do have allergy against dust mites, so I do this regularly, and this is how I keep my allergy under control, so I don't have to take the inhaler all the time... I have never been scared, alone or pregnant in a country where I could be arrested so I don't know that fear. However, take the baby to a mosque or church! It sickens me to read this as I know several people including myself who if a baby were dropped off we'd care for it/ give it to the proper authorities and not subject it to this kind of torture. In the end it is torture. Poor little innocent soul. Just about to say the same, just completely shocking. I am sure they will find the mother, after all they take samples from all of us. When do they? DNA from our blood!! WOW! I did not expect that, as I knew that DNA tests are always expensive..... well, maybe after all they do it. Still, if the mother really don't want to get herself into trouble, she won't get herself into that state in the first place, once she become pregnant, she should just left, not staying her and dump the poor baby in the desert like disposable thing!!! there are so many ways the mother of that baby could do, and none of them are leaving the baby die like that, I do not understand any situations a woman put herself in, and reach that result. May this baby get the justice he/she did not get in this early life, I really hope the police do get the mother and the father, it's joint responsibility, and it's not only the mother.

I don't get it? how on earth this woman felt she can get away with what she did only because the maid is illegal? and what does made of whom employed the illegal maid? if the whole thing is true, I hope they will sit whom done this to the maid as an example.

Really Gorobattie? I thought I remembered clerics in Saudi had said p!g valves for heart surgery were acceptable? I did a quick search and could only come up with an Egyptian cleric's statement (http://www.islamopediaonline.org/fatwa/ali-gomaa-no-obstacle-use-heart-valve-taken-***-medical-treatments) but I don't know about the accuracy or reliability of the site or the information. Perhaps it is something like other faiths? Some sects accept blood transfusions for example where others don't allow them. I'm not trying to stir the pot, but I do like to be educated so I don't make any future mistakes. My questions are sincere, as I do want to understand. ETA, I do understand why the OP is upset, she has a legitimate complaint as the product was not clearly labelled. edited by marycatherine on 25/03/2013 regarding organs transplant: I have no idea of that fatwa to be honest, I would really to get it myself, thanks for sharing the link. In a fairly way, I always get myself out of the p!g products as much as I can. ETA: now you had opened my eyes for something new and I never come across....I did some googling about that matter, and discovered that there is so many opinions about using skin, some are saying it's okay as p!gs have the same as dogs, lions and donkeys while alive, and then after the death of the animal, some clerics think it's okay to use the skin, some are just saying p!gs are just a no - no.... by the end....there is a very important islamic rule: al darorat tobeeh al mahthorat, means: for very important matters islam allows breaking the no - no of islam....as an example: a strange man see a woman body: a gyne can do this is some examinations... for me: using p1g valves to save a human life is the most important.... I am not stirring a pot either, I am just learning something new, and it was something I lived all my life not knowing it. :) thanks MaryCatherine :) edited by Gorobattie on 25/03/2013 <em>edited by Gorobattie on 25/03/2013</em>

Aroha, this is the problem: I don't know how to go to that storage place, as I was at home packing, dh and his brother done the storing, I know both of them, they would place everything everywhere, and nothing will be secured.... more than 3 years and no one gone there, dh's brother is busy and shift worker, once he get the days off he goes to graymouth in the west coast..... I just need a nice extended time out for me to go there and see what is the damage and bring to dubai my lovely sets...some inherited and some I hand picked and bought it myself..... tried to get the storage place keeper/ owner to check it out, he said he can not do that as it's not his responsibility. :( I will have the hope, just distancing myself, so when I discover that I had already lost them all or part of them, just reminding myself that I did expect the worse :) Now don't worry about the shipping, I did ship stuff across the world twice and they survived, as shipping companies do great job in that, the only fear is getting shipments in and out of the boats..... Now enjoy the happiness of having your lovely china and glasses when they arrive... for me..sometimes I do enjoy just looking at them lol....okay after posting that last bit: I look weird 0_0 <em>edited by Gorobattie on 25/03/2013</em>

Ha, I am a china/crockery/pottery addict as well! 12 places is optimal. And have an everyday hard wearing crockery set, as well as a 'fine dining' set. 8's is ok for the everyday set. Avoid porcelain like the plague! And make sure you use your fine stuff, just because. it's too nice to hide in a cupboard waiting for special occassions. Am a teensy bit excited, I have over 300 pieces arriving from my storage in April that I havent laid eyes on in nearly 7 years! Havent the foggiest where am going to put it all, but hey ho :) Aroha.... you are just reminding me of my lovely bohemian crystal glasses, silver set, china dinner set that I have in the storage in chch....every time I remember them, my heart sinks, as after all this earthquakes over there, makes me loos hope that they survived :( at least the silver set will survive .....

TDB, this is fantastic that you have family that would buy you gifts that would save you heaps of money :) most of sets are either 6 or 12, only to discover that now manufacturers started the sets for 2 and 4, which this serves the singles, families always go to start with the sets of 6, but I believe you have big family over here - got that feeling from your previous post over the time - so I would recommend 12, it will be a good number for you and your growing family :) I do buy the sets that are 6 * 2.. so I can keep the 12 for every thing I have, as someone posted: I hate to entertain and have no enough plates to do! I know this will look too much at the moment for you, but believe me, you will feel great when family come over for dinner and you have enough to serve and entertain. HTH

[b'>[i'>Mohammad, the Messenger of Allah S.A.W.S. said A woman got into ****-Fire because of a cat whom she had tied, and thus it could not eat, and she did not let it free so that it could devour the insects of the earth, until it died. (Sahih Muslim)[/i'>[/b'> This is what we teach our sons and daughters, and this is what we grew up learning. A life is a life, be it a cat, iguana, a child or a person and it should not be harmed. Such acts are found in every nation and country. Lets hope the authorities will do something to punish these kids. [i'>[u'>[b'>BUT[/b'>[/u'>[/i'>, I have been to Safa park over 100 times, and I have never found any where any poster informing people that a harmless iguana was in the park and it shouldn't be harmed. I know for a fact that if i came across it and with my kids around me, I would get a heart attack and then call Dubai municipality control to do something about it! I am not giving justification to the kids/ppl who killed the iguana, but the park should have informed its visitors so that they would know its there, and would be aware to avoid it if they saw it, and not of course to harm it. Let's face it, ppl here including my self, are not that familiar with such animals. The park should have informed visitors one way or the other about that animal. edited by lamaaz on 24/03/2013 Based on your views of the presence of the Iguana, the park should inform it's visitors of the presence of birds, some are vegetarian and some are not, like crows that could eat a dead animal or just eat left over and can go to rubbish bins and eat from there, the park should inform as well about the presence of insects, that some are harmless and some are not, like cockroaches and ants - variety of ants - and don't forget the mosquitos that is a harmful bugs to humans....don't forget about stray cats that wonder about inside and around the park..... Lamaz, I did see this iguana with my family, in that time my children were younger, one is under 2 and the other is reaching 4 years old.... I am a person who is afraid from anything stray or wild, yet seen this iguana running/crawling fast and climbing a high tree and kept looking at us from the top, it was an opportunity to show my little man other lives around us, I got scared if something stood still in front of me and growl at me, this iguana just run away!!!! so what heart attach you are talking about? I believe you had never ever seen this iguana, and you just read about it's presence after the unfortunate death of this God poor creature.....

Hi Just went over to K9 friends and sponsored a lovely dog. Just fell love with him at first sight and now back home ,my son cannot stop thinking abt him. Unfortunately we live in an apt,but i am pretty sure the LL will make an exception. But i believe it wud be cruel to any dog to b shut up in an apt since we both work full time and DS goes to school. Does anyone have a dog in a flat? Would like to know how u manage? We do have a free park nearby! MB well, it's not me, but a dear friend is single and live in apt, and have her lovely dog, she do travel so much that she did hire a dog walker comes every day 2 times, and believe it or not, I would never ever imagine there is a dog in the apt next door when I used to live in apt, the do was happy and nice, it does't matter you live in villa, apt or even shared apt....what matter is how love and care and walks you give to the animal... Ladies, I am surprised from what you had just posted! I was going to apply to DS2 in KG1, so DS1 and DS2 would be attending the same school bus together, now this become another story, if I did apply to KG1, that means 2 pick up times and 2 different school busses. I don't know if this would help or not, I will do send a complain about that, and will do inform the principle that this is affecting my decision of enrolling both my children for that school the next year. Thank you for the heads up.

We had just adopted 2 cats, they were rescued from a park, where their mother gave birth to them, they were 5 kitties, but some been taken away and only left the 2 kitties....the children - who are supposed to be nice children - were stoning these kitties!!!! It's a hard work to get these 2 cats to believe that my children won't do the same, they are afraid to even conceder looking at my children, despite the constant attempt of my children to friend these 2 cats..... I don't understand; why anybody think stoning animals is an activity? I am so horrified that this poor iguana tortured to death, and this is only 200 M away from my house! I was contemplating that maybe I will let the cats go out and about once they got used on us and know where is home, now I do really thinking about it now, that I will not let them out, as these children and the adults would be present and re-do this to them. I don't know how they can sleep at night, knowing they tortured a living soul and killed it? I am at loss of words.

I really did not read all your posts, but can I say something over all this? I believe that every body is stressed an over burdened with responsibilities and duties... men and women do act differently under pressure, and morning is the most stressful time of the day, no one need to start his/her day with argument at all. may I say that everybody is wrong and right in the same time? the modern life did not leave much for family life, long working hours, after working hours work does follow you to home, vacations that it's already become stressful and over planned that it did lost it's meaning of vacation. Schools that become a full time duty from parents and long hours; that made everybody stressed and if something did not go according to the school: it means the parents are not full hand on! May I suggest that each one of you to sit down with her husband and just hug him, tell him how she feels and how she love her husband, and if he is over crowded with work; you are the same like him. give your children the same hug and tell them how you feel and how you love them, they are people like us only just little one! There will be time that each one really need our beloved ones to cooperate and work with each other instead working against each other, life is not easy, and keeping this relationships strong as roots of sycamore tree. Feeding the anger is not the solution, not saying men are !@#$ or women are !@#$% will help! try to talk to each other when the storm had passed, sit a date in your monthly calendar to have a family activity, take the phone socket off the wall, switch off your phones, switch off the tv, PlayStation, wii or anything take you from each other.....put the books back in the bookshelf, look at each other and ask each other about work, school, look at each others eyes when they talk to you, make that day all about family, no one else. I hope this could reach you ladies and you would really work it out. HTH

The thing is I did have this before, and believe it or not, it's really depressing and frustrating to not be able to sleep over the night, and become tired and exosted in the day. I did have encounter it, having an issue that you can not talk over or solve could do this issue. I was just giving an advice based on what I did had. I hope this will clear the misunderstanding. And I am sorry for misinterpreting my thoughts, english is not my first language.

missbojanita7, You do not need prescription to go to sleep, you need to know what exactly stops you from sleeping in the night, you have soething in your mind that makes your inner feeling keeps you awake to think this issue...... Bring this issue/ problem into light, so you can face what stops you from sleeping in the night. meds doesn't solve problems, facing it solve it. Stay strong and face your fears. Then you will go to sleep. HTH There are MANY physical conditions which cause sleeping disorders, you can't just make a sweeping statement that it's all in OP's head! OP, go see a doctor for a diagnosis. But in the short term, try taking a hot bath with magnesium salts (Epsom salts) - it will send you to sleep. I am not sweeping things, or saying it's only in the OP's head! but solving a symptom instead of solving the issue - physical or not - won't help anyone.

If you don't like the idea of having another stranger in your house, then don't. there are so many agencies around, call them and arrange one or 2 times a week cleaner to come around and do the cleaning. if you do not use all the rooms, close some or the ones that none of you use, example the guest room, an do the cleaning once a month. ask the children to help you, ask them to pick up their toys or cloths and place it back. ask dh to help you around the house, don't be a super mum, no one did it and who is claiming they are; they are lying! do search of the alex cleaning list, it will help you to fragment the home chores and always ask your family to help around. I am no expert about this issues....but in my personal opinion, if someone did get loan or cc and used it...they must pay back at least what they spent. it make me rethink about the integrity of who done or doing this, if this friend did accept the terms and conditions of the debtor/ the bank, he/she must pay what they took. I am not going into details of this, but if it was someone I knew did this, I will be careful with that person, re - lending them money or such....they knew they are breaking the law and they did it, what will stop them doing this with me? And if it was me; I will help that person to give him/her the info about how to negotiate paying back the money. IMHO

I have an advice from a person that my skin is so sensitive, Buy tea tree oil, and have your own towel to use it after the waxing is done, you can always ask for ice cube to calm down the waxed area, have the ice inside the towel and not direct on your skin, after 10-15 min, with patting moves clean the waxed area with tap water - the wax is sticky and can irritate the area- then with gentle patting with your finger tips; apply the tea tree oil on all the waxed area... you will feel cooling once you apply it, this feeling will last between 20-30 min, then leave it on over night - if you waxed in the evening, or just leave it on for 12 hrs. when you have your shower, please do not use shower jell or soup(spl?) over that area, and you can use a wash for that area only, no loofa, only with your hands, and rains it with water... this way you won't have any irritated skin, scars or whitheads pimples.... Not to forger that you need to wash very well that area before you head to the waxer/ beauty saloon as that will reduce infections, and - ahem - please use cotton knekers Good luck and remember to stretch the skin, as this reduce the pain. :D

I have Tefal Acti Fryer.....never gone back... since then, I use it mainly for fries, and never add oil to it. unless I am doing it from scratch, then I only add less than half of spoon.

I think this could be solved on the print set up? Not setting up a new printer, it's when you go to print the doc. then a window appears and asks you what you want to do... Good Luck

OP, The maid is good at what she is doing, but caring and loving your child, don't get me wrong is not of her job description! Maybe she is doing this because 1) she is distancing herself so she can stay professional 2) or she really doesn't want to fall for her employer's children. give her a break, I know what you are trying to say, but love and care is not part of a job description, specially her visa says she is maid not Au Pair. love and care comes from you, not the maid. get your child passport and residency photo copy and 2 passport photos of your child to al baraha hospital. I don't remember very well now, back in the days, I did insist on DH to get myself the health card, and got my son his healthcare... back then, it didn't cost me much, I remember bringing the birth certificate - the UAE issued one, or the attested if your child was born abroad.... children under the age of 2 years are free in government hospitals over her by the way, not only the immunisations. I have no idea of what does the insurance companies over here do....if immunisations going to be like this, why don't you just get your baby his/her government health card, and get the immunisations for free? Just a thought.

in my opinion, DON'T buy the ready made marinaded stuff from supermarkets, as they are already the stuff that had been prepared for selling, then it went off the expiry date, then they do the marinade to cover up the discolouration or the smell, then re sell it again, as it's now another product. don't buy cooked, half cooked food in any supermarket over here.....do it yourself. you can always buy the meat or the chicken, make the marinade and toss it all, refrigerate them at least for 3 hours....then do your BBQ. and it's easy to google and marinade or recipe over the internet.
