you collect them out at Nasimi itself, they usually have a desk just outside the main entrance (which is near the carpark that you park in when going to the waterpark, and where you get on the little shuttle bus). They go on sale from 3pm and probably won't be any queues if you go down around that time. Last time we went around 8 pm and had to queue for a little while, but not too long. Hope that helps!

this post has put me in the mood for a glass of red wine. And I always get a little nervous reading these kind of stories as it makes me think of what things could be like down the line with my own boyfriend (muslim) if we were to get serious! Right, cabarnet sauvignon ,where are you?!

THanks for the suggestion clever bubbles, you are indeed clever! I can still make the payment, it's not that serious. Just will be a strictly budgeted month so if there had been the option of saving the few thousand by way of a payment holiday I wanted to know!

Lol, yep that seems to be the expected solution. They admitted it's their mistake...but told me they will rectify it next month and not before. Ah well, a slow, quiet month ahead of me ensues!

Hmmm interesting. I'm not a huge fan, just happened to be offered a ticket last minute so went along. I thought he was excellent. He had amazing energy, lying on his back, on the stage, playing that guitar/keyboardy thingy was impressive! We stayed right until the end and had a really good night.

I second the Murooj Rotana option. Went there with some lebanese friends as its their favorite and it was a fantastic evening. Does start late though, I think we went at 10.30 as a compromise and no-one else turned up until at least an hour later!

Hmmm, even with a journalism degree I've been struggling to find freelance writing work here for the past year! Maybe I'm just not meeting the right people! Have even offered to work for free on Saturdays but still no takers!

...if his job is to open and close the gate to let cars in and out throughout the day, and each of the other security guards open the gate and hold it until the car has gone through and then they release it, then I don' t see why it's not his fault? I know I'm in a better position to pay for it and I don't have any intention of complaining to the company as I wouldn't like him to lose his job or any of his salary but I do personally think it was his fault. And, I'm also pretty sure that if it had been the car of one of the vip local families that attend the school that was hit, then things would have worked out differently.

hmmm thanks Shamat and yea, I guessed that would probably be the case. I wish I had known in advance that the pink slip meant guilty!! I actually smiled and said thanks when he gave it to me!

Surely it's the security man who didn't secure the gate's fault?!

Today as I was leaving work on my lunch hour the security man opened the gates to let my car out, I drove forward, he had walked away from the gate by now and the wind blew the gate which then smashed into the back of my lovely 10 month old car and dented the side, knocked the bumper out and scraped of a lot of paint! The police came, took my details and gave me a traffic report so I can claim my insurance. However, my friend then told me that as they gave me the pink slip this means it was my fault! I can't see how they think it was my fault and don't want to loose my no-claims or pay the excess, is there anyway I can appeal the decision? The policeman kept both the white part and the green part with him before driving off.

Many of the Borders stores in the UK were closed over a year ago..but didn't have any affect on the UAE stores so I agree that they are probably franchises! And when they charge 72dhs for a 3.60 magazine I doubt they'd really be in danger of going bankrupt anytime soon!

Just wondering if anyone know's of any alcohol/liquor stores in abu dhabi where you don't need a licence. I know of 2 in Al Ain but heading to Abu Dhabi this weekend and would like to skip having to trek to Al Ain also! Thanks!
