They are organised by the brain and learning in one of their two centres. One is in Tecom and the other is in Motor City. The one I went to last week was in Motor City and was super friendly and informal ans i got to ask a few questions in relation to my own kids! It was great. Jenny as you are new, go and you will meet other mums too.

Last Monday I went to a talk on the Science of Motivation. It was brilliant! Lots of quick and easy to apply tips, and a real aha moment for me in motivating not just my kids but even my DH! lol! It was free as long as you registered. I think most these talks are around 11 am and as I work full time I cannot go to most, but I would strongly recommend them to you. Just go to this website (i think it's: thebrainandleartningdotcom) and check them out!

I took my husband to Atmosphere on Burj Khalifa and we had a tasting menu. The best food we have had in Dubai. But it did set me back 2000 AED! I nearly fell off my chair!

Hi Orchard This seems a common problem. They don't even seem to follow the sibling rule here!!!! How old is your son? I think it may be worth doing an assessment at The Brain and learning centre (just goog;e brain and learning dubai) as they can tell you what is causing his "special needs" and also they do brain training rto help overcome the problems. This might be your best bet before september. My child's school was telling me that they wanted a shadow in the classroom. I refused as I didn't want dependency! Thank god for that, as after brain training we moved her schools and no shadow has been needed. Well worth a try. Don't let them close your options on you. As Dubai grows these schools are getting busier and throwing their weight around with poor parents!

I'd recommend the Al Khaimat rooms. Much bigger, much more private and much more romantic!

Sounds good. I will contact them. So do we need approval from Emaar even though the work is internal?

Also need to add that you do feel like a super mum after going there every day for three months! But the results were certainly worth the pain! But wanted to make sure you know that there is pain with the gain!;)

I agree with valt too. I think a good start might be to do an assessment and find if The Brain & Learning can help your child. THey get my thumbs up! I had an amazing experience with my child!

I wholeheartedly recommend The Brain & Learning 04-4534170, ask for Pooney the director. The assessment was only 500 AED (I am not sure if it's still the same price) and in the meeting when I was getting the results back I found about so much about my child! I think that's your best starting point given the crazy costs and then they can suggest ways to fix the problem rather than just give your DD a label.

I take my cat to Blue Oasis in Green Community. Dieter is brilliant and the costs very reasonable. He loves my cat too. Their number is: 800-PETCARE or 04-88 48 580 I love them. Can't say enough good things. My cat was so ill and nearly died and Dieter was so loving and brought him back to us!

Great advice ladies! I will definitely view at different times! Could I ask you Jules around what house number you are living (give a range)? I know it's cheeky but we want to put an offer on a house that is half way between gates 1 and 2 and feeling a bit nervous! A million thanks

You should try the brain & learning: 04-4534170 for brain training activities. I think they are open throughout the summer. I took my child to them and the experience was fab.

I have taken my cat to Blue Oasis vet Clinic in green. Community (04-8848580) for a few months now. I have had a fantastic experience each time. They love the animals they treat, they charge very good prices and are happy to help in any way they can. Dieter is fantastic. I Wholeheartedly recommend them!

If the school has not dealt with this issue for all these years, then I don't think there is any point hoping for them to change. So yes I would change schools. This could give yout daughter a new start and a chance to have a great educational experience. Otherwise she could end up hating education forever. One of my good friends just moved her daughter from a school in Springs to a new school (I think it's called American Collegiate). She says her daughter is so much happier! It's just a matter of finding a good match for DD>

Hi ladies We had a review meeting for my daughter yesterday at school. And I am over the moon. The school said that she has gone up 1.4 years in her reading age (she is now just 6 months below her age). Also they notice thsat she is much more happy and confident and to me that's even more important. She was beginining to hate school! This is after 7 weeks of brain training at the Brain & Learning (www.thebrainandlearning.com). The director Pooneh came to the meeting to and had some helpful strategies for us for the remaining weeks of her training. The school had told me that she was slow learner before Christmas and had left me feeling distraught. So you can see that it was especially sweet for me to hear that my daughter is flying I took her to the Brain & Learning Centre for an assessment based on recommendations by other mums and also some posts on expatwoman ladies (THANK YOU LADIES, YOU ARE MY GO TO FOR PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING!). She started training in Jan and now we are half way through. The assessment highlighted problems with her speed, working memory and worse of all her auditory processing. In the consultation I really understood why her reading was so behind and why she was doing sooooo poorly in school. I wholeheartedly recommend the Brain and Learning Centre to you if you don't understand why your child is not doing well at school! You can at least do the assessment and consultation to find out what the problem is. Good luck! :):) (I saw this thread and posted this message again as it is about the Brain & Learning.
