Look at the skyscraper website. Lots of tips under the UAE forum on how to go about with the snagging. Our developer did not allow us to snag before moving in but we went through the entire household once we were in. You can always call the maintenance guys to fix a problem within the first year. So make sure you use all the bathrooms etc as much as possible until the issues are sorted out. With every apartment/house in Dubai you will have problems that need sorting out. We even discovered (after 18 months!) that they drilled holes right through one of the pipes in our bathroom when fixing the basin. Only when the apartment downstairs complained of continuous damp did they realise that that there was a large gaping hole in the pipe. Be prepared for lots of visits by maintenance people for almost everything (AC, electrical, plumbing) and lots of cleaning up behind them.

Not sure what exactly you are looking for but if you looking for beans to weigh down a pastry when baking then you can try using dry chickpeas. It is available in all supermarkets. You will also find dried beans (like kidney or red beans) in the aisle where you find Indian dried lentils.

There are a few bathroom showrooms on S Zayed Road. Try Bagno I know they have accessories as well. If you willing to drive out a bit, go to Dragon Mart. There a loads of bathroom shops in the GA section. If you feeling really adventurous you can go to King Faisal Road in Sharjah.

Ladies, wanted to find out if anyone has ever received packages through USPS? Ordered a whole lot of things the other day and the shipping cost worked out much cheaper than shop n ship @ $25. How long did you have to wait before you received your package? The silly place I ordered from refused to change contact details before shipping so part of the shipping label have my shop n ship address details and a US contact number. How do I make sure I receive the package? The address shows my apartment number and building name but not my location. I have received a tracking number but it just says "processed through sort facility".

And cheaper. Visa through dnrd = dhs 675 ++ ( typing/knowledge/admin+drop off @ airport) + deposit. Visa through emirates = 275 and its electronic.

Dont know why they bother publishing this as so many places are standing empty and not being rented. Sorry Landlords....it's a renters market! I think that a lot of these empty apartments are owned by people that don't really need the money. A whole other discussion but they are not desperate to rent out the place. Many are also empty from defaulters too I don't know why banks and mortgage companies don't start auctioning these places off. Easiest way to recuop monies and you will have some very happy new owners if they are bought at good rates.

They are busy laying the pipes for the water to be recycled from the ocean. Strange enough they did not think about it at concept stage, filled the water and realised that the stagnant water would be a problem! Let's hope it will move from Jumeirah Sand Towers to Lakes Towers soon.

Maybe it's some form of middle English? Googled it and came up with 1) Palo Alto High School or 2) pal·y 1 (pl) adj. pal·i·er, pal·i·est Archaic Pale. pal·y 2 (pl) adj. Heraldry Divided into several equal parts by perpendicular lines. Used of a field. [Middle English, from Old French pale, from pal, stake; paly [ˈpeɪlɪ'> adj (History / Heraldry) (usually postpositive) Heraldry vertically striped [from Old French palé, from Latin pālus stake; see pale2'>

I bought the Chicco Liteway (similar to the link below) specifically for travel (about $100) but ended up using it more often than the heavy Quinny Buzz that we own. I cannot recommend it enough. I can take it out of the boot with one hand, make it up or break it with one hand and push it around with one hand. Only weighs 4,8kg and is just so practical. Best of all it reclines fully. Cushion is not that soft but you can always layer a blanket or something soft under baby.

DD is 13 months and dropped her second nap at around 7-8 months. Now I am lucky if she does even 1 nap a day. If she does nap the once, its only for 35-45 minutes and then she is up until midnight. Don't know how to change this pattern as it is very frustrating for me. She only sleeps if I am next to her and wakes up as soon as I wake up in the morning.

I don't normally get called up to be scanned before exiting the airport but once I had some chicken sausages (halaal) and they pulled me up. The lady kept on asking me if I had chicken and I denied it saying that I only had lamb and beef. Once we walked out the airport did I realise that we actually did have chicken and the scanner picked it up. I thought this was random and they called you if you looked suspicious. I was scared that day because we probably had at least 20kg meat in one bag.

Thanks ladiess. Some interesting responses. I found some track tops and jerseys (by chance!) in Geant for Dhs10 yesterday. Picked up a few items for her. I was very clear with her that I am not responsible for her clothing expenses as well. We pay our maids far too much here with so many benefits in any case. We even buy their sanitary napkins and I don't think we should be buying their clothing as well!

Not sure what type of oven you have used but the standard is 180 degrees celcius for about 30 mins in an electric oven. I have a fan assisted one and have been reducing the heat to around 170 for my cakes to come out perfectly.

Dont wash anything and just dump everything around then you would be able to prep in that time. :):):) hehehehe Seriously though... I love his energy in the kitchen. Wish I could prep that way. Never knew you could knead a dough on a flat surface until I saw him do it.

Who's ABBA? Were you born in the 80's? Yep. And I've looked them up now and really, would have never put the songs and the band together. I'm much more excited about the NKOTB reunion. LOL. Lol... thought as much. If you were born in the 70's or earlier you would have known immediately. :) They say that you can tell a person's age by the music they listen to. How true. edited by Icedqueen on 05/01/2011

I have been giving my DD (13 months) Pronutro Toddlers. There are lovely flavours like Pear & Yoghurt and Peach & Apricot. I must admit that I did not give much thought to the sugar content but I know she loves those flavours -probably because they are so sweet. At least she eats all her cereal. We struggle with lunch and dinner is such a hit and miss with her that I really don't mind giving her this in the mornings. I've been alternating these 2 for the past 2 months. It does keep her full the entire morning. I just love Pronutro myself and clear out the Waitrose shelves whenever the chocolate flavour comes into stock.

I do not by my maid clothing, nor would I ever go out shopping for her.... I think its a ridiculous notion, you hire these people to look after you and the next thing you know, you're out shopping for them, cooking their food, making sure they're happy, checking if they need anything else.... the whole point of hiring a maid is to look after you, pay them a salary for it, and if you feel the need to give them extras, put together a budget, and give them some money to go shopping for clothes themselves! why should you have to go around shops bargain hunting, checking if its the right size/color etc for your employee... just give her the money and if she doesn't buy clothes with it, then thats her problem, don't give it to her again... Problem with that is that she probably won't buy clothing and end up "feeling cold" again. I gave her Dhs200 the other day to buy her food thinking she would buy chicken, rice, potatoes etc. She came back with juice, bourne vita, lots of tiffany biscuits, powdered milk, chocolates and coke. Obviously cannot be trusted to buy clothing then? Don't know what she will be eating after the biscuits and juice get finished.

Do know where is a good place to look. Carrefour clothing section. Mine has a field day in there and its reasonable too. can pick most of it up in there. Sorry if some of u buy more designer but im not going that route. Thanks for the tip. I found some undies and the t-shirts at C4 the last time. Lulu is also a good option. Not going to be buying her any Mango or Zara anytime soon!
