Yes, unfortunately Aspire do close their membership registrations periodically but they will open again...its worth checking in every other week. A lot of people will go away over the summer so they will open up their registrations then (I hope!!). Registrations are open Sunday to wednesday only from 8am to 11.30am and 4-pm.

Pretty simple to get an exit permit. The sponsor has to go to the immigration building by the departure airport with the maid's passport. They issue it there and then and only costs QR10 which you have to pay using a credit card or an e-card. You can get it upto a week in advance (or possibly longer...not too sure about that). Infact the immigration building is between the new Oryx Rotana and the airport, near the big mosque. Hope this helps. edited by IndyGal on 01/06/2011

Aspire Ladies club also has yoga classes on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 8am. The class is taken by a lady called Nisha. Once you take the membership, you can then also go to any of the many other exercise classes that are on offer. Membership is quite nominal at QR200 per month.

Bombay Silk is on Salwa Road. It is directly on the opposite side of the road to the petrol station and KFC on Salwa Road. Coming from Ramada, it is on the bit after the wholesale market roundabout.

Your moving company should have people who could provide such a service...I would try asking them first (if you haven't done so already). Otherwise there are lots of curtain making shops here who could send someone out. Couple of places on Salwa Road, lots of places in Najma!

For Indian curry delivery or eat-in, try the newly opened Tandoor Restaurant in Aziziya....just up the road from Papa Johns pizza and Ponderosa. Really good kebabs, biryanis etc. Tel No is 44166066.

Also Oriental Carpets (behind Blue Salon on c-Ring) carry out repairs and cleaning. However their guy has just left for his vacation and won't be back till March! But he did a good job of repairing one of my rugs and cleaning it before he left..
