I am looking to book a greeting service on arrival to Dubai. Which one would you recommend? It will be just me with a baby. After a very long flight and incredibly heavy suitcases I thought it would be nice some help? Do they both fast track you to get the visa stamped and take your lugagge? And more importantly, do they scort you to the taxi or just to the arrivals area, as no one will be waiting for us.

OMG, I really feel for you. I am so scared now, my husband is going to be away for 10 days and if I do hear something I am going to **** myself. I really do hope it goes away soon

Mine charges 25dhs an hour plus the taxi fare home, i am new at this and has only used her twice. I think next time i should also leave dinner as did not even occur to me I think paying close to 50dhs to a teenager is crazy when you can get some of the cleaners to baby sit for 30 and will do your ironing once the kids have gone to bed. See- here's what I don't understand- in this country it is practically impossible for a teen to get a part time job. Whether it be babysitting or anything else... How else do they learn good monetary responsibility unless we hire them? After all, nothing like a kick up the butt when it's your own money. And yet people are willing to hire uneducated maids to look after their kids, because they are cheaper than a teen and will do their ironing? Doesn't make sense in a country where ironing is as cheap as chips... at least not to me anyway. As I said I am new here and I did not get a cleaner, I do have a teenage girl too, she is 17. What I do think it is excessive is to pay 50dhs to some times even 13 yrs olds! I do not think a 13-17yrs old is any more educated than some maids who used to be nurses or even school teachers and are mothers of their own. The language, yes, you do have a point. I just do not get how can they charge so much? I did not even earn that much in my first job out from uni. Anyways those are the rates that either one would charge so each to their own :) I do also round it up to pay whole hrs. I think 30dhs is fair

I am due to arrive in Dubai in a couple of weeks and I am getting a bit worried after reading this. Some great advice though, I will make an effort and go to coffee mornings, even if I am very shy and will not reject any offers to go out, coffee or whatever. I am also planning to work so will have to really get out and meet people before hand. Any of you have been to the EW coffee mornings? I have a baby, I believe there is one where you can take them but it might take a while until I am confident enough to drive as I have not seen any meetings in our area. I would be great to meet some of you sometime

So, is it already up and running? We will arribe in Dubai in a month and our little one is supposed to start in the winter term. Despite the numerous emails and phone calls, we have not had any confirmation in written and have not asked us to pay anything yet. They just said there will be no problem as they have vacancies and asked us to go for a tour on arrival. Just a bit concerned as I have nothing confirming he has been admitted and last I heard there were not even open yet. Any thoughts please?
