My rescue dog gave birth to a litter of 6 pups out of the blue late last year and I was able to adopt them all successfully at 12/13 weeks. I don't envy your task of choosing the right home. I had over 150 enquiries about the pups and have to say the final decision for each one was based on gut feeling. Thankfully, they are all happy in their new homes and we're hoping to arrange a family get-together with the proud Mum in the not too distant future. Good luck - I know you'll make the right decision when the time comes.

Some great news to end the week on. DHA has reversed its decision to charge patients currently undergoing chemotherapy. My friend, and his fellow sufferers, are over the moon that they will now be able to complete their remaining sessions free of charge. Ive spent a lot of time with my friend over the past two weeks and, for me it just reinforces the point that life is so precious and must not be taken for granted.

Sue R - you are an absolute star. A friend of mine just bought this model from a family who were leaving but didn't get the instruction manual. She's just had it plumbed in but is not sure what the symbols on the dial etc mean or what programme to follow etc. Ideally she'd love a copy. Ive tried to download one without any success. Would you be able to drop me a line at pridff at yahoo dot com to see what the best way to get a copy would be? Many thanks in advance.

I flew out to UK in early February on a passport which was due to expire in April without any problem. I did however renew my passport in UK before returning to the UAE.

I have a close friend who is caught up in this DHA fiasco - and you just cannot imagine how he feels right now. He has had 2 free sessions and been told that he will have to pay AED 15,000 per session for the next 6 sessions. Everyone's circumstances are different but why start someone off on a course of 8 free chemo sessions, then after 2 free sessions announce that he will have to pay up for the final 6 sessions? He has one chance at chemo but there must be no disruption to the programme - and because of the aggressive nature of the cancer, he does not have time on his side. Had he had prior knowledge of his current state, or advance warning that he would have to pay for the chemo, he would have returned home and undergone the treatment there. However, my friend, and others also currently undergoing chemo treatment, are hopeful that the DHA will reverse its decision and let them complete the full programme. They will find out in the next 48 hours.

Or try the Emirates Grand Hotel on SZR. I have a friend who works in Emaar Square who was initially accomodated in a 1-bed serviced apartment there. Its one stop on the Metro from Emaar Square.

Simple - personal choice! I have my clubs but want a non-branded pastel coloured golf bag to replace my current one which is beginning to fall apart. The branded bags Ive seen around town are AED 500 + .

Never heard of Bridgeway but DASA have been highly recoommended by a few ladies on EW including LivelyTrish. I also had some Aussie friends who returned home c 18 months ago who used DASA and who were very happy with the service etc they received from the company.

Huge thanks to Dally and Vertical for such quick and helpful responses. This is just what I was hoping for. The lady in question thought her visa was valid for 60 days and she's overstayed by at least 2 weeks. I know there is a grace period so hopefully the overstay won't be too hefty. If I remember correctly, I think the fine is on a sliding scale too (ie more expensive for first few days then there is a reduction in the amount charged ?). Thanks again girls.

A friend, who has twins, employs a maid - well really a nanny ' cos she gets an agency maid to come in to do the housework - is feeling very unsettled with the maid. Even friends, including myself, sense this 'maid' is not suitable for working with these young twins. My friends have tried to talk with the 'maid' who claims everything is OK but my friend has seen some text messages where the 'maid' is bad mouthing her employers - yet she gets a a really good salary, eats the family food, etc etc and is very well looked after. My friend now feels so uneasy with her that she wants to cancel her residency and send her home . However, it transpires the maid's passport expired c 2 weeks ago. Has anyone on here found themselves in a similar position? Can the maid be sent home on an expired passport if her residency has been cancelled ?

I called the CIS in Abu Dhabi but they knew nothing about a Canadian school in Dubai ! Im sure Ive seen a building with the Canadian maple leaf emblem on it that looked like a school behind the Shangri La Hotel . Ill just have to go and check it out.

There are two absolutely gorgeous Bengal cats at the Modern Vetinerary Clinic on Al Wasl Rd (close to the Al Manara / Al Wasl Rd traffic light intersection) looking to be adopted together in a loving home. There must be someone out there who can give these beautiful cats a chance.

Dr Walter at Pet Connection may be good with birds but he was unable to tell my friend that her dog was pregnant, less than 2 weeks before she gave birth to a litter of 6 puppies !!!!! The Veterinary Hospital in Al Quoz gets my vote.

My brother was a heavy smoker and tried all sorts to give up cigarettes. He went to a hypnotist c 6 months ago and hasn't smoked a cigarette, or had the urge to smoke a cigarette, since then. Initially, he was a bit irritable but with time is back to his old self again.
