Well I'm sure you'll have a great time in Thailand. Was Emirates really that expensive? We saved about £200 for 2 people by booking it through them rather than emirates and then Bangkok Air (but we are departing out of the UK rather than Dubai). You could always try the Krabi area of Thailand as Air Asia flies there and is a lot cheaper although not sure how wet it will be then.

I'll keep trying then. Had heard it was good and would rather be 'closer to home' rather than having to venture out too far now it's gettign hotter. Have e-mailed them too so hopefully they will respond. :-)

@ manubhaduria - we booked our whole flight with emirates as they code share/ connect with Bangkok ariways to Koh Samui. If you look at the bangkok airways website, their older planes which are slightly slower are cheaper too. Also has the advantage of taking your luggage right through. @ arohadxb - we're going to Samui in August too - where are you staying? I haven't been to Samui for 10 years and that was without kids so not sure where to stay as I'll be on my own for 2 weeks of it with a 4yr old and 1yr old. Have heard that Mae Nam and Bo Phut are better for kids as quieter can the sea is calmer but don't want to be miles away from things and Chaweng does have a lovely (albeit busy) beach.

Anyone been on a 'school' night? Planning on going on Wednesday. How do you get into the VIP area? Thanks

Lots of options. Thanks for those. We had considered Greece but wasn't too sure about getting around with the luggage and kids on my own as it'd mean a ferry or flight after that. Thailand is always a realiable option. Been there a few times but always happy to go back. Greenish - what's the best way to get to Croatia from DXB? Also, anyone been to Goa in the summer. Thought it was monsoon season and best avoided? Thanks

We got ours from Al Mostafawi - it's right next to Karama metro station. We went for the cheap option as we were just putting kids toys on top of it. Prices vary hugely dependent on quality. The more 'grass like' stuff at Dragonmart was 50dhs+ a sq m but it looks considerably better than the cheap stuff.

Have you tried Safa school?
