Hi Fruit Cake, we have given 2 months, but we were only able to make the decision when the landlord had confirmed his offering for next year. The agreement said 3 months. We still need to look at Executive Towers, alhtough we are put off by the road situation and no gym. Its going to be a real shock for us as we have been living in the Bonnington in JLT, fully furnished, great service. We got a steal last year though and that has been proven by the increase this year! I work in Burjaman though and DH in Media City so DIFC/Downtown is a nice location for both of us.

Some great feedback and certainly food for thought. It's just me and DH so space wise SG looked bigger than Lofts, however the sewage pipe is something of a concern!!! We have till mid January so will continue the search!!!

The restaurant at the One and Only palm is meant to be amazing. If you are lucky you can gor for drinks at the jetty lounge at the royal mirage and hen get a boat over to the plam for your dinner there, or vice versa. very rock'n'roll!! Enjoy!!!

Myself & DH do not go anywhere without a voucher. Restaurants, fast food, sea wings, water parks, ski Dubai etc. His parents were here for 10 days and we saved over 6,000aed! I think once you have one you will be very angry that you have never had one before. athomemom - The Family is the main book for the day to day touristy activities and casual dining. The Fine Dining is the second book we treat ourselves with and is the restaurants in the 4 & 5* hotels, Atlantis, Jumeirah, Westin, Bab Al Shams. Even if you use the FD book three time you will be in profit, plus there was a wine voucher last year, hope thats in again, free bottle of Monkey Bay, thanks very much!! Do i need to say again how much we love it!!

We have 6 of the Irish family coming for new year so we'll have saved the money in the first week of January!! I have un-subscribed from all of these daily deal sites now. The deals have gone from relatively good offers every now and again to a super saver shwarmer!!! I think it's a sign that both businesses and consumer have had enough of them which is what is happening in the UK and US now too, BBC did an article last week that I read.

Yeah thats why i asked, no media coverage or reports?? I totoally agree if we had a few more years we'd have been happier, we went to see Stevie Wonder in May and whilst he was fantastic, if we knew more of his songs we would have been truely blown away. Glad you all had a great time and like i say, overall really impressed with the organisation.

If i had posted this on Thursday when my friend was BBM'ing me and i was watching them change their page i might have been tempted. She really wanted to go and to see such a blatant fix was upsetting. Luckily we all got tickets off Dubizzle on Friday and went on the Saturday. I don't want to start a hate campaign it just makes me angry that they try to act all generous and then don't even bother to make sure the winner even entered haha!! Idiots!!

My DH is spending more and more time over in KSA at the moment, mainly in Riyadh and Al Khobar. He never feels comfortable there and is constantly on edge, is he in the right place, can he use this door, should he sit here. He has met a lot of people there that love it though and enjoyed an 'interesting night' in one of the compounds with new friends that he made on the golf course. Ex-pats i think will really look out for each other over there especially if you are in the right compound. He has said since day 1 that for him to move their a rise would be necessary, for him to even ask me would take triple the wages! Thankfully he hasn't received that offer yet!

We have lived in Bonnington since January and it is fantastic. Rooms are fully furnished with the highest standard furniture, appliances and utensils. No noise or impact at all from the 2 bars or restaurant, if anything its fantastic to have them so close on the rare occasion we do go down. Only draw back is the pool is on the 11th floor and built into the hotel which means no sunbathing, although me and DH love it at night. It is also not affected by the traffic as it is in the second half of JLT, the queue is always to get back around to SZR on the first section. In 9 months we have never been effected by traffic.

Not sure if its new, but there was no queue, i waiting for 3 minutes. The whole process took 40 mins, although had i not asked to change the appointment i would be waiting till Sunday to drive 30 mins to get it processed! Advice is go early and avoid what will be a rush due to the fine issue.

We stayed in the Hyatt in Sanur and it was amazing. The local area however wasn't as great as some of the other areas in terms of qualit restaurants. This didnt really bother us as the hotel, pools, grounds and restaurants were amazing and we went over to Jimbaran Bay the one night and Ku De Ta another.

Research it properly as they normally claim a discount but charge more than the major electrical stores in the hope that people are too busy to shop around. They have defiantly done this with iPads before.

We went on the 30th December a few years back. Th ebest thing we did by a million miles was book a tour. The Lourve first and guided round, otherwise it would be a blur, then a cruise up the Seine to the Eiffel Tower for lunch, actually in the restaurant half way up the tower, and then cruise back to Notre Dame. The tour cost less than the lunch at the tower would have independantly so was well worth it!

I think Emirates are getting too big for their boots right now. They are almost double for every route at the moment! I have booked to go with BA to Dublin via Heathrow in 2 weeks time and it was fraction of the cost of just getting to the UK with Emirates. My DH travels to Cyprus and Saudi a lot too and he said the Emirate plane to Cyprus is like a wonky old bus and with KSA they are double the cost of Saudi Airways or Fly Dubai. Another thing that really annoy sme is the cost of tickets from here ro the UK as opposed to Uk to here. In November it is 2,320aed for DH brother to visit, for us to go the other way is almost 4,300aed? How does that work!! BA for me, although i'll let you know in 2 weeks!

Hi Shaista1234, we have been here for 8 months now from the UK and live in JLT too. My tip is do not get caught up in all of this Dubai fever, live life as you did back home with a few cheeky treats. There will always be people you socialise with that have more cash than you so do as much as you can but set your limits. I get the metro every day instead of a taxi for example. We live our social life around the Entertainer so i agree with Nadia, no way we could afford to eat at Nobu etc without it. Also check out Dubizzle for cars and other items you may need. Plus there are loads of things you can do for free once the weather cools down! Enjoy it, we love it so far!!

Ok so i went with DH on Friday night, anticipation was high as we had not been able to get a table last weekend. Food was very nice but the service leaves a lot to be desired, from sitting down to main course we waited 70 mins, what made it worse was the two tables eitherside of us had starters, mains, desserts and the bill in that time? When the food did arrive it was very nice, you really can pick as much as you want from the menu. We had 3 starters, 4 main dishes, rice, naan and 3 deserts. As well as using the Entertainer voucher we chanced our arm in presenting our Sirius card and got another 20% off! So we had all that food for 180aed, plus drinks. Deffo worth a look with the voucher, would i hurry back...no.

Wild Mint are you a member of the website? I got an email from them last week with special Iftar 2for1 offers. I think you just need to join the site to be able to use them. I guess based on this you will not be able to use a normal voucher from the books, same way you cant use them at brunches (we've been denied at Saffron before). The month before there were 2for1 brunches at Al Qasr so deffo worth signing up for it, we saved over 1,000dhs last month.
