Thanks ladies - just knowing that I am not alone in this makes me feel better. Right now I feel foolish as I am totally fine but come 3am tomorrow I know I am going to be back in **** :( I think a second opinion is def needed. I need to start excercising again - I haven't felt like it since this started as I am just too tired to do anything really. My diet needs some work but is ok-ish. I can't take St. Johns Wort or Evening Primrose as I have had funny reactions to both of these (proves they def do something!!). speed queen - I will post you a message if I need to talk again if you don't mind. I feel good now but know it won't last. I appreciate all of you and your kind posts. gusncoley big hug x

I agree with Sanddy_Dogg, I have had that message for EVERYTHING I have been to when booked through Time Out - I think they do it to try and prevent big queues at the venue. I have never picked tickets up before hand and always arrive at peak time - I am so disorganised - and I have never had to queue for too long. Always quite well organised.

Hey Tartiflette! Congrats and good luck on your forthcoming move! Great that you have a place at DESS. We have been there for 3 years now and I thank whoever is up there regularly that we managed to get a place there! It is a brilliant school and my DD is very very happy there. My youngest will join here in september. We live in Arabian Ranches and do car share - there are many car shares from here. It takes around 20 mins in average from here and is a great run as it is only 2 straight roads with not much traffic. The maps DO NOT tell you anything I promise. Before I came here I ruled DESS out even though it looked to be the best school (AND IT IS!) as we knew we wanted to live on the Ranches (great community/family feel/safe for kids/lovely to get out on bikes/good facilities/established/well positioned for everywhere in Dubai). I know of people who go to DESS that live all over the place so don't worry too much - chose your residential area carefully as obviously you gotta be happy. Wherever you live in Dubai you are gonna have to spend a lot more time in the car than you probably do where you currently live. The roads are a lot better though so don't be too worried. Good luck and carry on using this forum - it is a brill source of info - although take a lot of stuff with a pinch of salt :)

Hey Ladies! Ended up with black skirt and a lovely blouse I guess you'd call it, from Debenhams. Feel fantastic in it and teamed it with some smart black heels. An investment me thinks but hopefully an outfit I won't need again! Thanks for all of your advice and ideas today - couldn't have made these decisions without you! Wish me luck!! x

This is sooo hard! I had been with the same company for 13 years before I left to have my babies 7 years ago and not had to do anything like this! I am wild inside at the moment but need to keep this contained I guess! Right, I hear you gals. So dress and plain black scarf with dull snakeskin print (M&S - quite sensible) shoes and black bag!? Oh goodness if any of you work there and see me tomorrow I will die!!! lol

I went around 12 years ago and it was a wonderful hotel back then although it is in the middle of the resort and quite a lively area. The Sydney Swans (AFL team) were staying there too which as a 21 year old was an added bonus!! I have been looking for a holiday with my 5 and 7 year old and for us (as I remember it) it will be great. Although just a bit worried about the weather in November!!

Sky view bar afternoon tea is imo the best one. Go for the later booking - around 4 and you will be up there for sunset - stunning and a great afternoon tea in amazing surroundings...... Thanks Claire - is that the Sky Tea then? It says 1 - 5pm on the website. If I booked for 4pm would we have to get out for 5pm? Sorry I guess I could ring them but soooo much easier talking to you guys x What is the dress code? x

So....Sky Tea at 395dhs OR Afternoon Tea with champers 375dhs OR High Tea at 245dhs OR the Junsui Lounge 185dhs We are late 30 somethings going without hubbys....opinions/feedback ladies please? Hi Nikki63 - I posted a thread a few weeks ago. The noise is ridiculous so much so that we are going to move home at the end of our lease in June! I emailed them, threatened them with writing to 7 days, calling the authorities etc and they didn't even have the courtesy to email me back. The problem I think is that with more and more hotels opening around the fronds on the crescents, the noise will only get worse. Every night there is something going on and I can't sit in the garden (never mind have a window open finally!) and have a peaceful evening without some booming going on. Like I said before, and I know some people love The Palm, but to me it is a holiday hotspot set to get worse. I've also seen the plans for the universe that is set to go between The World and The Palm - I know it is a fair way off but more noise is bound to come. Also, I don't know if you have noticed, but the noise from helicopter tours over The Palm, planes from parachuters etc is getting worse. The jet ski noise at least once a week sounds like a giant swarm of bees and the little s**ts on jetskis going up and down the fronds whilst people are swimming in the sea is just a joke. Extra rant over. The little s.... you mention are apparently HRH's sons! They are the only ones allowed to jetski within the fronds! Typical!

Hi, We have one living next door and she comes to help us cleaning, ironing & babysiting untill our live-in maid come. We pay her 25dhs/h. Maybe you can ask all the maids close to yr house and see if one of them would like to do some extra time. Thanks Paris but heard a few horror stories about people being caught and fined recently so want to do it through an agency - but can't really afford it!!!

Thanks for your reply Mags - I have tried school noticeboards, the supermarket noticeboards and would you believe that I got into a LOT of trouble when I asked the class reps!??! I am actually a class rep myself and I sent an email to all of the reps asking them to kindly ask their classes if anyone was interested in a car share...well, you would have thought I'd ask them to go and sell their bodies or something!!! A lot of them were really kind I have to say and did reply to me nicely but would you believe I was complained about to the boss of FDESS! I hadnt asked for anybody's information or advertised anything or broken any rules but apparently it upset someone!!! Nevermind. I have a lovely friend who is helping me out a couple of ways and even that relieves some of the pressure!!

There is one within Saheel at AR and one at the Polo Club which comes highly recommended by many. Sea shells in Al Barsha is excellent and not too far away. I second this!!! DD at Polo Club but 2nd choice was Seashells!

Have had my first near miss with a nasty driver too this morning! The first in 2 years so I should be thankful. Yours wasn't driving a black sporty Mitsubishi Lancer around Al Ain Rd was he? I would shake this guy if I came across him! I had the kids in the car and so did the lady 500m infront of me who I saw swerve to avoid him too! Prat!
