How does the microchip actually work then? If it can't be scanned by any scanner and link it to the owners? Ok. It's playing on my heart strings. I feel so guilty not helping out this little fella. Ladies please be honest, as fellow animal lovers, do you think I'm being silly and selfish not taking this guy in as a foster just because he's going to remind me on the little guy I just lost? Not only me, but the kids, I'm worried how it may effect them. I wouldn't want them to think I've replaced their beloved Leo. I don't want them to think animals are things that can simply be replaced. But in the same breath... I'd love to give this other boy some love and TRY my hardest to track down his family who could be out there aching as much as we are for our lost boy. I'm sure Leo would want me to help his fellow feline, right? Arg... Help?!? SueB, talk some sense in to me please. Lol.

In the store or deliver like sb said. Or order online in UK and get them brought out by guests if possible. The staff at the shop are lovely. I remember Reading (on here I'm sure) about how snooty the staff were and I have to say, they have been wonderful every time. When I first went in there and had very little idea of what pods I wanted to buy. It wasn't any trouble to make me as many sample cups as I wanted and they do seem to know their stuff too.

I was opening this thread to suggest Tiffany's. Go for it. They have some lovely timeless pieces and if it's what she wanted, it's the perfect gift.

8 years! Hehehe... No seriously, It hasn't taken the whole 8 years but this is the happiest we've ever been in Dubai. I found I had ups and downs. But Dubai is what you make it (like anywhere and everything else) so it's up to you.

Have a look at the Nespresso machines. Best coffee IMO. Also use coffee pods. They have a store in Dubai Mall. If you can though, you'd save quite a bit buying one in the UK. I mentioned on a previous thread... I paid around 700dhs for my Pixi, here they retail for 1400dhs. Even using shop n ship you'd save about 400dhs.

If DD's not fussed, get over it (and I mean that in a nice way..not to be read in a b1tchy tone at all). I fell pray to the Sophie hype and I have to say, DS wasn't impressed. He's had far more fun and pleasure out of various other teethers. You're welcome to his, the colourings come off a bit but it's good to go. Let me know and we'll organise to meet up and hand over the giraffe ;-)

Nath I would take him in as a foster, but it's still such early days...I don't want to feel like I'm trying to replace Leo. It may feel too awkward given that they are so similar looking. I will think about it though.

He's still not back this morning :-( please keep an eye out ladies. And tell your maids and garderners too please. Going to get flyers done asap. KKS I have stopped everyone out on the streets and knocked on doors in our area. Our maid is going to chat to the security today. I don't think he'd still be out there. He's the type who would meow up to someone. So he may have been taken in. If so, I just hope they don't just keep him but try find his real home. If not, I hope they give him all the love and cuddles he needs... And the bucket loads of tuna he goes through ;-)

Nope, it wasn't him. He was so similar looking and the exact same age, but the microchip numbers didn't match up :-( Will get out there soon as it cools down SueB. Having issues with our printer so not going to be able to do flyers in a hurry, but I'm hoping and praying that he will come strolling on it as soon as it gets darker out there. Hoping for the HAPPY ending!!!!

Please ladies in the area, keep a look out for him. He's only 5 months old, ginger and had ginger eyes. TIA Mods please leave this on the main board for a while...my little boy is beside himself

Hello and welcome. Don't let the lack of smiles stop you from smiling. Smile at everyone, I always do and either get met by a cold stare (poor sods-life would be better if they just smiled) or a glare that turns into a smile or a smile and a "hi" which could lead into a concersation...usually about the weather or where you're from and how long you've been here. What area are you in? That may help with ideas for schools/nurseries. Oh and Spinneys stock Tetley. Last week they only had decaf at the one in Motor City. But u do get it here. PG tips is also widely available.

Oh I forgote plastic. I'm sure I put plastic (empty milk bottles) in the green bin and it's been fine. TBH we've started putting it all in the black bin until I get a seperate bin for recycling. We used to be good and use the IKEA stackable ones, but the sun perished them so I need to find a replacement. Or just get my bum into gear and wheel the green bin around to my kitchen door. I think they only come every second week for the green bin. Can someone else confirm this? I may be wrong. But I think every second Sunday. We're in Saheel.

The black/grey one is for all general house waste. The green one if for paper, cardboard, tins and glass if you'd like to recycle. Could you be putting it all in the green bin and that's why they aren't taking it?

I'd be interested in your guys details if you go ahead and are happy with the work and blinds. We have always used IKEA ones (and loved them) but innour new villa they just wouldn't be long enough. So I'm looking for some too. Shellly that's really strange that your blind curled from the sun, andoDo annoying as they aren't cheap. We had some in all our rooms and the ones in the main bedroom got full sun all day, and they were fine.

Yay!!!! So glad you got the happy ending we were all hoping for. Just wondering, maybe find out from a local vet what you'd need to do to make her microchip she already has, work here in Dubai. Can they register it locally for you? I use Vetcare at the Polo Club. Bet your princess has been spoiled all weekend ;-) yes they can - they just update the details on it. Great. I'd get straight on to it then. Better to be safe.

You can only try. Keep calling and keep nagging. Tell them to put you on to someone who deals with going out to check on animals. Nag nag nag. Don't give up. Be a voice for these poor animals.

shameless plug here... i have Punkt, his mother and 2 other kittens all looking for homes.... if you want a kitten tearing up the stairs with your dog... i have just the little kitten for you! http://tnydu.biz/D5fNgU oh Punkt is GORGEOUS!!! How old is he? How would he be with another 5 month old male kitten? dH is gonna kill me, but I'm considering it... ;-) Sounds like a perfect match ...Wink wink .......;) I've just shown DS the pic....he's after a White cat with spots, to call Pinky (lol). DH peered over and said, "cute" so let me work on him. Our vets bills have been quite low lately for a change...so now is a good time to "work" on him.

I had the Mamas & Papas Pliko P3 which is identical to the Peg Perego just made for M&P and I loved it. Practicle, easy to use and comfy for baby from Birth to 3. There have been some previous threads on here, try do a search. Can't comment on the other, but I'd go for the Peg Perego.

My only advice is DO NOT buy a Siemens - honestly if it is even offered to you for free don't take it. We have a Siemens (well, it's the LL's) it's gas hob and oven and it's seriously great. You could be the first and only person to ever say that a siemens is great. Seriously, there is almost enough siemen haters to form our own forum... edited by Stardust on 15/09/2011 lol. When we moved a month ago, the LL offered to leave the cooker. DH agreed. When I came to choose paint for the villa the following day, I noticed it was a Siemens and promptly told DH we wouldn't be using it. We have a 10 year old tiny Indesit cooker from DH's bachelor days, works like a dream though, so never replaced it. Anyway. DH won the battle even after Reading some comments on here and 2 months down the line, I love it. But I won't tell him that. And the old Indesit is still in the garage just incase this is simply the honeymoon period and I later realize the Siemens is a heap of sh...! But so far, it cooks and bakes like a dream, touch wood!

Tomorrow is Friday morning. Most people sleep in. If you have no luck tonight. Go out early in the morning and call. And as most people are at home, stick posters under their car windshields or under their front doors. Wishing for a good outcome.

Call all the vets. Google "vets Dubai" and just go through them one by one. Ask if u can email them a picture to put up. All vets have a notice board or a folder for lost pets. Yes i would say go to the municipality vets yourself. Or email them a pic. There was a guy there who was helpful and came recommended. Don't recall his name but maybe search it on here? If you do go, insist on going to see the cats at the back yourself. They are usually good at telling you what areas they have recently trapped so you could work out if it is at all possible that your cat was caught in a trap. They close early and will only reopen on Sunday though :-( I'd start with the Vets and put notices on your area. Also knock on a few doors and chat to the maids in the street. Mention a reward. Try walking around tonight when it's quieter. Take along her food and shake it while calling her name. Knock on a few doors, they may know something or she may well have been trapped in somewhere, have neighbours check. All the best. I hope she's home safely very soon.
