Monkey Face is right, if you're only burning 250 calories, but putting away significantly more than this in your diet every day, then you will see little results. Losing weight and general fitness should be a combination of 70% diet, 30% exercise. I would say burning just 250 cals in the gym over a 1 hr period is quite low, you should give yourself higher targets to reach each time, so one day 250, the next 300 and so on and so on, until your levels of fitness increase and don't plateau (if you stick to the same levels every time, you'll find yourself frustrated that you're not seeing mcuh result even though you're exercising). But again, like Monkey Face, I must advocate that unless you're following a healthy eating regimen (with the occasional treats), you will not achieve the results as quickly as you would perhaps like. HTH. Suze 63, a great suggestion - Tabata is a fantastic form of exercise, that not only works you hard, but also gets you out of the rut of mind-numbing boredom that can set in with standard gym routines. edited by Kezzler on 01/05/2012

You could try installing Mozilla Firefox as a browser, this usually works with both PC and Mac and is free. It's a good one to use when problems with IE or Safari occur. HTH.

Last night I was watching fatafeat, and the gal made the most amazing looking cake. It had a bar of dark melted chocolate, almond biscuits (or biscotti, something like that), eggs and butter, some castor sugar, and orange zest. I have been trying to find the recipe online because I want to make it myself next week! The inside of the cake remains moist while the top becomes a bit crispy. She mixed all ingredients in the food processor--looked so easy! Wish I could find it, it looked just divine :( ETA--whoops--it was BBC lifestyle. Had a cooking show-watching frenzy last night and couldn't remember :) This was a cake Rachel Allen made and it wasn't almond biscotti, it was "amarettis" or something like that. It had no flour and seemed easy. Hopefully the website will post the recipe soon! edited by Beebers on 25/04/2012 This could be the recipe you're after: http://www.food.com/recipe/chocolate-amaretti-cake-rachel-allen-384702

I'm not sure if they still stock it, but I got some in one of the larger Boots stores here last year, think it was the MOE and it was half price, so maybe they were getting rid of the stock. Might be worth a try though.

Fizzy pop (Dandelion & Burdock, Limeade and Cherryade) in glass bottles, that you could take the empties back to the 'paper shop' and get 10p back per bottle. I used to love that, my mum used to save them up and then I'd take loads to the shop on my bike in one go (a carrier bag full hanging on either side of my handle bars) and she'd let me spend the money I got back on sweets - 10p mixes (20 half penny chews) :-)

I work at Al Futtaim Motors and there has been a grey persian cat in the basement/vehicle storage area of the Toyota showroom in Festival City for quite a few days. We think it may have been lost for some time as it's tail has become somewhat matted. It's a beautiful persian, I don't know whether male of female, but she's crying a lot, so if anyone around this area may have lost their cat and this one could be yours, please contact security at AFM Head Office on 04 206 6000.

thank you so much ladies.. Kezzler, He was a marketing executive for a B2B company but his specialization is more of Product marketing, branding etc Unfortunately it is dificult to move from one industry to another in Marketing, albeit I have several times over the last 16 years, but a lot of employers do want industry specific (particularly in this part of the World). I've been from fashion, music and electronics, to automotive, sports and back to automotive. If you can demonstrate understanding of building brands, then some open-minded people will consider marketeers from other industries. In what areas has his Product and Branding experience been and how many years experience does he have? BTW, if it's any consolation, my OH has been out of work since December and unfortunately at his level and years of experience, the jobs are almost non-existent :-( But, we are remaining optimistic.

I've been to the bar on ladies night as someone said earlier no min spend for ladies if u stand. If you sit or reserve a table it's 200 min spend per person incl ladies Honestly it really isn't, there's no min charge for ladies on a weds, even if you're sitting, I was there this weds and had a table, which I reserved a few weeks ago. If you e-mail reservations at Atmosphere, they'll send you a confirmation (if they have availability) and with that, their rules and regs. The min charge really does only apply to men on a weds. Of course, any other night, ladies are charged the min.

In the restaurant, minimum spend is 600 dhs per person, in the bar (lounge), minimum spend is 200 dhs, however weds is ladies night in the lounge and therefore no minimum spend for ladies, but still 200 for men. It does not cost any more to sit down, you just have to make a reservation for a table in advance. I was there on weds this week and it is most definitely worth it. Hth. From the lounge do you have a good view as well??? And what do you get for this 200aed? In case I make a reservation, then the minimum spend also at ladies night is 200aed, right? is it very crowded? thanks! Yes, it's a fantastic view. On ladies night, the minimum spend would depend on how many 'gents' are with you, I was there with OH and 2 other girlfriends, so minimum spend was only 200, we had our free glasses of bubbles, then had a cocktail each, total bill was about 400 of which the 200 is included in that. Beers for men are abou 45 dhs, so basically if you are happy with your two free glasses of bubbly, then each man will have to have 5 beers.or do what we did, had our free glasses, then had cocktails :)

I understood that there was never a minimum spend for women..... only the guys get charged. Was just trying to help with the full details, no attack on you specifically and that it's 600 in the restaurant, not 750. One is just trying to help with as much detail as possible.

Frankies has live music every night, Sunday to Friday is the singer Tony, who at the end of this month will move to Frankies AD and Rory from Frankies AD will move back to Dubai. On a saturday evening they have a female singer, with a new one about to start. The performances start at 9.30 in the week and 9 at weekends (or it could be the other way around). Always good fun.

I can second Saba 2, I've been here 3 years (in 3rd apartment now) and the facilities are excellent, standards are high and it is nice and quiet. Also only a few hundred yards from Marina Metro station. Have looked at other buildings in JLT over the course of living in here and haven't seen any that match.

I'd check first of all if the GBP 60k/year is before or after tax. If before, the take home on that will be considerably less as he'll fall into the 40% tax bracket. However, education, healthcare etc is free in the UK, unlike Dubai. I would also say that rents between London and Dubai are very similar (depending on where you choose to live). Plus, if your hubby is getting housing allowance on top of the 25k dirhams here, that will help, I can't imagine him getting a housing allowance on top of his 60k salary in the UK, it's just not that kind of system there. Pro's and con's to both, but if it were me and the UK salary was before tax, I'd stick with Dubai. :-)

Paperchase in MoE has a really nice selection of unusual cards. It's located on the way to the Metro, just past Coldstone Creamery.

I work for Al Futtaim Motors and all applications have to go through their website www.afuturewithus.com. It also advertises all of its vacancies on here for the Group. Good Luck.
