:( oh no ! and what if we cancel her current visa, send her back home for the summer (as it is planned) and get her back here with a tourist visa. Then wouldn't it be easier to change from the tourist visa to the company visa ?

We've been there at the end of February and the weather was just like the one in Dubai (not very hot at that time and not especially windy). This is one of the places I would go back as we really enjoyed it.

Hi there, We've only got one car here and after dropping the kids at school, I drive my husband to work. At the end of the day, he just takes a cab to drive him home. When we arrived 3 years ago, finding a cab was not so easy as Dubai was quite "crowded" but after the financial crisis it is not a problem anylonger ! So my husband used to have a limo driver but honestly they are not really reliable...

Accents are very important to me. I am french and for instance I don't like the accent from the South of France, does this make me a racist person ? of course not ! I understand your concern about your child speaking with an accent you don't like, whether it is an indian or a scottish accent ! My son goes to a french school and I would be disappointed if he was taught french by a teacher with an accent I don't like. By the way he is being taught english by a lebanese teacher for 2 years who was not able to pronounce the "r" in english properly. And now my son pronounces the "r" the same way when he speaks english... My daughter went to a english nursery when all the teachers were from India or Philipines. She used to say seben instead of seven, and once again this bothered me because this is not correct, that's all. But my daughter really enjoyed this nursery so...

I think the easiest way would be that the previous employer cancels her visa, then she goes back to her own country as planned, and when she comes back she will have a 30 days tourist visa and you will be able to sponsor her... or was there a new law saying that if a person (from a certain category of person) leaves the UAE after a visa cancellation, this person has to stay outside the UAE for 6 months before being allowed to come back ?

vjdubai, I could have written your post. A few years ago I lost my mum after I gave birth to my first child. I had no choice but staying strong for my son...at that time I also had bad surprises regarding friendship ! it's been almost 7 years now and I still cannot believe she is dead. I miss her so much...

Hi Noddy, 2 years ago when we moved in Dubai, I had a stamp for a 30 days visa (before getting the resident visa) and it turned out to be valid for 60 days...I never understood why ! but I think this is no longer the case...
