yes - you need a tetnus and antihistamine. Will it prevent whatever has gotten (if anything) in my hand already? The tetanus shot is important to keep you from getting tetanus (which can occur when there is a puncture wound like you describe) This can be VERY serious - you can google this info - there is some here: http://www.medicinenet.com/tetanus/article.htm If you haven't had one in the past few years, you should definitely have one. Being that you are still bleeding and your hand sounds very swollen, if I were you I would definitely have this seen to. edited by emmess on 30/11/2011 Thank you, i cant remember getting it done at least in the last 5 years, so stupid of me not thinking about this with all the strays i handle. :( Going to see a Dr now

Hi Greenish, Thanks for the details I've written them down and so you can remove them from the post if you like. Hi Kristina_rmnv, The girls love the pictures of the pups as well - although hard not to as the mum looks so proud. Could you please let me know how tall you think they may be when they are fully grown, looking at the mum she doesn't appear to be that tall (although hard to tell) which could be a perfect size for us. Thank you all again. Mom is just under knee height to me, im 1.60 cm. :D so she is not tall at all.

Green-ish , We have reported this particular farm. Authorities have agreed to visit them, they have indeed gone to the farm, and the response was "Animals are well looked after, everything is clean and they have food and water" Nobody has checked for Pravo, pups purchased from them usually die in a max of 14-20 days, so either they replace all pups that don't get purchased on time (before they die) or they import on a weekly basis. Once you have purchased a dog from them, phones go off, no reply to emails, and if you go and visit them again, Thy say that its not their fault, at time if scared they give you another pup. HORRIBLE!!!!

This was actually what i posted about the 1st DAY i joined EW. I was asking for help to report, and got very much "shouted" by EW police :P saying that if place is licensed i have to stay away. Was many months ago :) Yes, FB can be reported, but takes a few people to do it for it to work i think.

Hi wyddfa, I knew you would take this in a wrong way, but from what you wrote i understood that K9 has decided that it is not suitable for your family to adopt a dog or THAT ONE dog, so i was only asking a question and hopping to understand, since you have explained afterwards, t is now clear. Please consider maybe any mixed breed, you will not find it easy to ADOPT a pure maltese pup here, if you only want a small puppy, im receiving a mother with her 8 babies this weekend, and they will be with me until all are ready for adoption (next 2-3 months), K9 has just helped us take the other few pups, 5-7 months old, so there are pups everywhere. Hope you make the right decision. Good Luck!!

There are several puppy mills, all the pups drop dead within a few weeks of parvo, more fool the idiots buyers who keep them in business. edited by Domestic Goddess-in-training on 28/11/2011 This is the problem, people have no idea and are too ignorant to do their research so the vicious circle keeps on a turning. Also know of a european lady who breeds Toys out here - shes another one that needs to be put down. edited to add - Believe she was reported but still in operation .... edited by lucky4uitsme on 28/11/2011 REALLY?? Not hard to get down if she doesn't have a license and does it at home, i don't mind getting my hands dirty with this.

After i spend every second of my life rescuing animals.....SO DISGUSTING....SO UPSETTING...

I can look after him, I am moving into a flat on thursday and could take him then... I do have a dog, although she LOVES cats... Do you think the little guy would manage in an apartment? Oh i'm 100% sure he will. :) Would like to foster him? Or adopt?

It's a pity the pet places aren't required to check that people know what the requirements are to take an animal back home with them... would reduce a lot of the strays. Sure, fostering is great option for people who want to care for animals but can't take them. Wish more people would do that and give many animals a chance rather than take one they know they can't bring back with them... :) A lot of people know it, and PROMISE they would take the pet with them, but when the time comes a million excuses come up. :(

I get that but what I don't understand is, why not just take the animal in the first place? ALso I was asking generally, why many people seem to 'borrow' pets for a few years then just move away, not just about that family... think it was because of the time required, 6 months have to pass. In general YES that's a big problem, and people just don't / refuse to understand this.

What I don't understand is why so many people buy/adopt pets, knowing that they will have to leave them someday. I would love to have a pet howeverr after doing some research found it costs thousands of dollars and many months in australian quarantine to bring it back with me should I move back home. since i cannot afford it I won't get a pet- do most people just not think about what will happen down the track? genuine question, not trying to be smart!! They left her behind, because the dad had lost his job and the family had to leave dubai on a very short notice, and the paper work for UK required 6 months, their friends were suppose to be helping, instead Holy ended up in the pound.

2nd video to make me cry in the office :( Have a look at this one, Holy was rescued in Dubai only a few hrs before the pound was going to shut down for eid. We later found out that she had owners, they had to move to UK as Dad had lost his job, and have left Holy with "trusted" friends for the 6 month period. This is Holy finally reunited with her family. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-15819713

Thanks Kristina_rmnv you pipped me at the post !! @Sarakiyan those of us who have been involved in animal welfare/rescue etc.have seen some horrendous cases involving puppy mills. Go online and do a bit of investigation to get an idea of what goes on. It will turn your stomach. All the animals imported into Dubai come from some sort of puppy mill.Any decent breeder would never send their puppies overseas to an unknown fate. Have you ever considered contacting K9 they have a number of smaller dogs up for adoption? And NOT one dog comes from europe!!!! All dogs come from Russia, most come from Uzbekistan ( a shame, as it is my home town), they barely spend a few days with their mother (which will be sick and dying, therefor all of the pups are sick) Its hearth breaking!!

Well,....I bought that puppy from who I was told was a reliable person, then after a vet check, discovered he was pretty sick, and all papers etc were dodgy, and there was no guarantee he had actually had any of the vaccines he was supposed to have had. I have 2 small children at home and couldn't take the risk of having a very sick dog in my house. It was a terrible experience all round, and not one I ever want to go through again. We are all very upset by what happened, and I do not think its fair to say such things when you do not know the full story or me at all. Was not meant to offend, it was related to the puppy mills, but unfortunately a lot of people support them...that's how they are still open and making money!!

Goodmorning fairwater, I would be very interested in giving a puppy a home as we recently had a very bad experience with an imported sick dog that we had to return, and therefore decided we would only ever consider a home bread dog from now on. My email is [email protected], I look forward to hearing from you. Have this terrible image in my mind now of this poor little thing being returned to who knows what fate because it was sick. But I suppose that is what happens you support the puppy mill machine........its all about the money. Very, very sad indeed!!

Still looking for a home :( And out Benny is also still missing....oh what a week!!! :( I thought Ben/Diesel had been found? Living with a foster home for the last month - according to the FB page anyway. Yes he has been found, been with them for a month, which means he was dumped a few days after being adopted, and the owners have told us he has been missing for 6 days only, he is very well taken care of, we are thrilled for him.
