Internet banking is the most ridiculous one... positive one, you can see you credit card statement , the rest is just a pins and pins and more pins... even a simple transaction takes so long... you need to change all your limits , because they practically put ridiculous ones in to the system for 3rd party payments... so now we need to go to the branch and make the requests for changes... my joint account is not mentioned in the internet banking either, so I need to ask them to correct that one as well... edited by DRey on 16/02/2013 Good luck, I am in my 5th year or trying them to do this! I cannot do TT online either, sometimes it works, sometimes they take the money twice (and charge twice) and sometimes it never works.

You can use the seeds from a pod to give a really lovely taste to your cakes and then put the outer pod into the sugar so that next time you have vanilla flavoured sugar. All natural and tastes really good. I keep putting pods into the sugar. The cheapest pods I have found (other than the spice souq) is Spinneys, a yellow packet and AED 20 for 2.

I have just bought some from Tchibo, 5 reels for AED 22. Ranging from 7cm to 1cm in width, 7m each one. One pack in pinks and one in green.

I took my DD when she was 2 and then 3 and she is going again before she is 4. I know it is supposed to be every 6 months but this is how we have done it. The visit when she was 3 was great as the dentist spoke directly to her (although I was there) and she felt like a big girl and from that day onwards we had no fights about cleaning her teeth and we do it exactly the way he taught her. If we deviate we have to go back to that stage.

My DD is at the branch in Mirdif and has been since she was 3 months old. She is now nearly 4. She loves it as do we. She runs in every morning. The branch in Motor City looks amazing, one of my friends had a look around and thought it was fantastic. I know the headmistress and she is really good, dedicated to her job and loves her job.

We use Howdra, quick, efficient, tidy and turn up on time if not early. If they finish the jobs I think they can do and have spare time they always ask if there is anything else they can do. Not the cheapest at AED 200 per hour for 2 men but they have always done a good job and have all the tools & materials needed to complete the job.

They are in Mirdif City Centre. I think they were under AED 15 for 5 cards, the same for the envelopes. I have seen packs of plain cards for decorating in Tchibo but they were multi packs. You could also try Diaso.

A4 or larger? Office Mart has packs of A4 160gsm paper for around AED for 200+ sheets. They also have packs of blank coloured cards with matching envelopes. Dubai Library Distributers have large sheets of coloured paper. edited by Ladybirdsarethebest on 30/01/2013

I like going to the coffee shop/book shop in ACE in Festival City. The books are second hand and generally in good condition. You pay the price inside the book (usually cheaper than brand new) and then when you pay for it tjhey stamp a loyalty card so once you have bought 10 books you get a free drink. When your DD is finished with the book or you are fed up reading it you can take it back and get 50% of what you paid back. I have found some really nice books for my DD.

I use Howdra for handyman services, efficient and tidy. Not cheap but they are always on time and are very helpful. The frame shop in Lamcy Plaza or Arabian Centre is really good.

You get this from a typing centre but you need to take your blue tenancy contract, passport copy (visa page & page with picture) and your last DEWA bill. They input all the details and give you an Ejari contract and you give them either AED 190 or AED 195 (I can't remember). Very easy, I was in and out in about 20 minutes.

If you are near Mirdif, there is a shop near Welcare/Life Pharmacy in Uptown Mirdif that has lots of crocs for really good prices. They also have FitFlops for AED 165.

My DD is only 3.5 but we use Waves Academy and they have lessons for 6 year olds. We think it is amazing, DD went from loving swimming but not wanting to put her head under water to still loving swimming and now dives to retrieve things from the bottom of the pool.

We have noticed that DD is grumpy if she hasn't slept in her own bed. If she creeps in with us too early then she has a restless night. If she gets in with us before 3am, I have to put her back into her own bed.

Decathlon in MCC. Around the AED 400 mark (and upwards). I have seen lots of children trying before the parents buy in the last few weeks.

We are going with RDS, main reason is because it is closer to us. We have been told traffic in and out of that area is really bad. If we decide to go down the bus route we would rather she did a short bus journey. Also after the Home Information Sheet asking silly (in our opinion) questions like when did your child start walking etc. we decided we wanted another school. We also have friends who have children there and they are really happy. We don't know anyone at DESS so nothing to compare it to.

I got my book yesterday and the newspaper delivery started today. Yeah, saved AED 95 Dirhams. The newspaper is being delivered to the office so will be read by a number of people and then it will be recycled.

I agree with joe-ama, the IKEA high chair is the fabulous, cheap and super easy to clean. No nooks & cranny's for food to get stuck in. You can buy a cushion for it that ties on. Also great and goes in the washing machine for easy cleaning.

I have done it through S&S but it wouldn't do that again as they send it in a box so the weight is quite high. With their post the weight doesn't matter, it is the value they go on.

Last year it was in January as I bought my DDs Christmas clothes then. I usually buy from the US website and have it posted here. If you spend up to $120 then the cost of a courier is $30 or $40 (depending on urgency). If you sign up to their emails you get notification of sales and they often do a few days of 30% off everything including items already reduced. Last time I spent just over $100 and the full cost should have been 4x that. I dread to think how much it would cost me here. edited by Ladybirdsarethebest on 11/12/2012

Have you looked at Kidville? They do lots of different things. Not the cheapest but they often do a package of AED 499 which gives you the chance to try some classes. This is how we started.
