Just booked this for DD and her friends when they visit next week, but as the bar doesn't open till 7.00 p.m it will now be well past sunset, so the views will be limited. As DD has already done the afternoon tea this seemed the cheapest option for her friend, who's never been before, to get the Burj al Arab experience without doing the tea. Minimum spend per person is 150 aed, but as you this will cover approx 2 drinks if you are lucky there will be no problem reaching the minimum spend. We are hoping to arrive shortly after 6.00 p.m. and hope that they will let them in early just to take some photos. I'll post back if they manage to get in early.

When the "free 40" teabags cost you 11aed Ok I know I've been here awhile but I am still sometimes surprised. Spinneys at the Marina, on the shelf 100 Lipton teabags 15.25 or special pack 100 + 40 free 26.26! Asked for price check at the till as something seemed to be wrong with these prices, both coming through as 26.25 so I tell him the shelf label says 15.25, he checks and amazingly I'm right and he reduces the price. Right result, but ladies please double check prices on the shelf with what goes through the till.

DH has a Pajero 5 door and is in and out of the garage for servicing as its recommended at 5,000 km mind you he does do a lot of kms! Buying new meant he had quite a long time of free servicing and has now entered a service contract so it's not too bad.

Northernstar always recommends Qadeer see thread http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=156962 and many others if you do a search. She's out of the country at the moment or I am sure she would be in touch. I have met Qadeer and found him refreshingly honest and helpful and know of a few ladies who have found properties through NS putting them in touch with him.

I'm sure she'll love it but you do know she has to be over 18 ? Thanks everyone, yes Sue she's over 18 it's her 24th when she visits next month, so well within the age limit. Plan on blindfolding her, taking her on a mystery tour and ending up at the Skydive Centre, just like her and her sister did to their dad last year for his birthday back in the UK, he ended up at Go Ape, zip wiring through the trees etc, he had hoped they were taking him to golf!

Quite a few articles in the National over the last couple of days, might be worth googling. The latest http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/adventure-centre-blames-climber-over-fall States CCTV shows the climber uncoupling himself. Not passing judgement, only passing on info for OP to look at.

on a recommendation from here, we tried the Marriot Habtoor for cooked Turkey, honestly I wasn't expecting it to be as good as a home cooked turkey, but it was incredible, best Turkey we have ever had. I will be using them again this year. It comes with all the trimmings, but I did make my own roast potato and sage stuffing (BTW their stuffing was sooo good) You do have to collect it yourself, they don't do home delivery. That's about the third recommendation I have heard for the Marriott Harbour, pity I am back in the UK for xmas, but return on 27th with family arriving from SA so hope they do something similar post Xmas. Not far to go to collect as I live there! :)

Sorry didn't make myself clear, Spirals is the unofficial Gooners supporters bar and is often packed with Gooners on match days. The Underground at Habtoor Grand and the Crown and Lion in Byblos, Tecom are both good sports bars for all matches with no affiliation to any particular team.

I think there is one near spinneys at Marina walk. I usually give post to any friends heading home to post back in the UK if the timings right, or send virtual e cards as I never have much luck with post being sent from here. Still waiting for a wedding invite to arrive for a wedding which took place in Nov 2009!

Had friends living in al seef, there was a smell problem when they first moved in, it was discovered to be a plumbing leak in the walls in the guest bedroom area. They got the impression that this was happening in lots of the apartments, it was sorted and they didn't have any further issues. Mould and moisture is often found in apartments if they have been left empty and A/C has been switched off. The pool area is on the roof, quite nice but doesn't get much sun as the roof design casts long shadows around the pool area and you find you have to play chase the sun if you like to sunbathe.

Check out TKD Tigers, Safa Park, my DD teaches this programme in the UK and can personally recommend this school and instructor. http://dunamistraining.net/tkdtigers.html Ah I remember last summer spending an enjoyable morning at our local cinema in the UK taking my DD's young students to see Karate Kid. They were all dressed in their doboks and had a blast.

We have used the most popular tours operators that are in the entertainer for the normal full desert safari experience Arabian Nights and the such like. But for a tailor-made trip just to do the dune bashing we used Unique Tours 043599003 or 043599002. We had friends over who just wanted to get the dune bashing experience so they went out late morning, collected from outside the Burjaman Centre and returned there mid afternoon so the driver could then do his normal trip. They had a blast, we had used them before and by far the driver was the best we'd had, he was most helpful, stopped many times for photo opportunities and really looked after us.

All UK airports apart from London and Manchester are usually at higher rates, we fly Emirates from Newcastle and nearly always pay higher prices than London airports. This isn't always the case as DD is coming over in October for £447 whilst London is showing £464, but Glasgow does seem to be way over the top. Mind you our flights NCL - DXB Dec 27 are coming in at £708 :(

Dally is right Sudafed for kids is def for children over 4 years old. People often think if a medicine says for kids then it's safe, but really need to read the dosage instructions as they are often for older children and not for babies or toddlers. Paediatric medicine is usually for that age group, or better still get medicine prescribed by a doctor for your precious LO's.

Failing that, if they're indoor rabbits, how about a big dog crate/cage and put somewhere to hide in that? Something like this: http://tinyurl.com/5wbdzqx That's the sort of thing I was talking about, DD adapted to 5* rabbit accommodation. :)

DD made her own indoor hutch using an indoor dog cage and adapted it by using sheets of plyboard to make three levels and making a small closed in area, there is also room for it's litter tray in the corner. It really is the 5* standard for indoor rabbit accommodation. The rabbit is free to roam the house when DD is in, it even goes back up to it's cage to toilet, and is only locked in at bedtime and when she's out. If you want to see a photo of it so you can get some ideas to make your own just post and I'll try to get one to you.

Thanks Kelly, it's for a friend who recently moved out here. she'd asked in a new pharmacy in JLT and the owner said that it used to be available but now only in huge quantities and therefore only cost effective for the larger supermarkets, but have yet to find it. Will tell her about the Waitrose one, sounds like it could be worth a try.

It could depend on what level of cover you have, i.e. Global or national. It may be worth asking your health care provider to phone the insurance company on your behalf when you are having your next treatment, as they will have all your details and will be used to dealing with your insurance company as I expect they will have already spoken to them on numerous occasions. Good luck with your continuing treatment and full recovery.

No it's out from uk always start our journeys there as it's so much cheaper, sometimes just pick a date in the future for second leg and just pay £75 to change it if need be. Still works out much cheaper than starting in Dubai.
