Shakespeare Cafe in Dubai Marina Mall. It's not a beach view, but the Marina is beautiful and you do get a bit of the beach between the buildings. Food is delicious as well.

Denisa Illea from Belissima in Tecom is amazing for both color and cut. I've been through too many bad hairdressers until I found her. Now I am not letting go!

I think this is different from policy to policy and from insurer to insurer. Just be sure you check thoroughly especially for things like premature birth, congenital conditions, complications of pregnancy I know it sounds scary to think about, but best make sure you have it instead of needing it and not having it.... read the fine print!

Hi Skyhighgirl No problem. Yes, I have BUPA now. I had Allianz before when I didn't think I needed maternity. I learned that you need to look at several things and it's good you're looking now - Make sure the policy you buy has - - Sufficient routine maternity - Good complications coverage - Good newborn coverage (if baby is born premature or with congenital conditions) The broker I used is aurora at pacificprime dot com you can email her if you want. <em>edited by Laura_C on 27/02/2013</em>

You have to be careful. I heard with Daman, they don't cover your newborn. So if the baby is premature or has congenital conditions, it is subject to approval, which most likely means that they won't cover it. I have Daman insurance and my baby was covered from day one Did the baby have any congenital conditions? Just wondering because I said that they don't cover if the baby has any congenital conditions or was born premature. I mean I have no personal experience with it, but the reason I know is because I spoke with an agent when I was looking for maternity insurance and they said that it is always subjected to approval and others have told me that pretty much means they will cover your baby if there is nothing wrong, but they won't if there is. I am sure they have no problems accepting a healthy baby.

Yes, so they take the hair on the very back because that hair is finer and closer in texture to your eyelashes. They will then implant the follicles to your eyelashes. The catch is that you have to cut them routinely or else they will get too long because they will grow like normal head hair follicles. She had it done in the US.Not sure which doctor she used. As for ladies whose hair color doesn't match, then tinting? The things ladies do for beauty! still very interested. No more eyelash extensions, falsies, etc... <em>edited by Laura_C on 27/02/2013</em>

Hi Any details you could share Laura?? My DH is really into his photography Thankx You should definitely check it out. Most of it is booked now for the workshops but the seminars are still open. Also, I heard Canon and Fuji will be there to do free cleanings for cameras and lens! It's only in knowledge village and not too far for the friday seminars. It's one of the biggest photography events of the year, and a lot of the photographers who come are world class. http://gulfphotoplus.com/gpp/2013/photofriday-workshops <em>edited by Laura_C on 27/02/2013</em>

I believe it is law in Abu dhabi but not here. Yes Feefmick, that is true. They have been talking about bringing that to Dubai, but they've been talking about it for years, so who knows? I'd also be careful with AXA Gulf. I heard that the policy has loads of things that they don't cover in the fine print, so you are fine to use it for normal coughs and colds but if something serious happens, it may not be enough. Always read the fine print is all i am saying! Make sure you know what you're buying especially if it's something as important as this!

I'd get a second opinion if I were you. I think conditions like dyslexia and ADD are overdiagnosed. Maybe your son was just not in the mood to read or work with the doctor that day that he was there. Especially if it is borderline...better than subjecting your son to therapy and treatment, probably best to get a proper diagnosis and understanding first. Has he ever shown any other signs of having problems reading?

I guess that's why they have dramatically raised the minimum down payment that you have to put down now. DH and I were thinking of buying until we found out that as of Jan 2013, you have to put down 50% minimum! With house prices the way they are, who would put down 50%! I mean we were thinking of doing it just for an investment because rent prices are so good in the Marina, but unless you were thinking of living here long term and want a place here to call home, can invest money much better elsewhere. Just insane 50%! I thought this had been scrapped? the 50% thing has been implemented yet... its still under discussion as the banks are trying to fight against it Yea I guess it's not certain yet. We were looking to buy back in January and early February and that's what the agent told us, so we scrapped the idea Havent looked into it again since then. <em>edited by Laura_C on 27/02/2013</em>

Hi Yes BUPA does have a waiting period for maternity. Every company has one. Are you pregnant now? Because if the waiting period is ten months, then that will be a problem! It's best to wait like 4 or 5 months then start trying, so at least you can get the expensive delivery covered even if not all the prenatal is covered.

Hi TIA, The package is definitely cheaper than doing it pay as you go, but maybe you should check to see whether your insurance will reimburse you a portion of it. Because it may not make sense if you buy a package and the insurance won't reimburse you for any of it since you bought a package.

Yea safa flea market but i warn you that place is a bit of a headache because people will try to haggle so much.... Try my ex wardrobe. My friends started it. They hold events where you can sell GOOD used things. They will check them for quality, and people who come to shop will expect things to be a certain price if it is good quality stuff www dot myexwardrobe dot com

Hi I wouldn't really know anything about the job offer you received, but if it makes you feel any better, the American Hospital is one of the best hospitals here in Dubai and it's quite well respected. So at least you have some peace of mind that it's not some mickey mouse hospital. Really? I had a shocking experience there as have several of my friends and would never grace their doors again. Yea, I think that is the way with so many Dubai Hospitals though. I've heard horror stories and really good ones about almost all the places here - City, Welcare, Medcare.... To be fair, I think in the end, it comes down to the individual doctor you've chosen. There's probably good and horrible ones in all the hospitals here. My personal experience there with a GP was quite good.

I'd probably speak with a broker. When I was looking for health insurance, I realized how complicated it can be. There are so many fine lines and policy quirks from each insurer that you may not know about. And when I was trying to do my own research, I wasn't really getting anywhere. This is especially important if you want to have a baby. I used a lady named aurora at pacific prime. She was sooo good and gave me honest advice and I didn't feel like she was trying to sell me something. so I am always happy to recommend her. <em>edited by Laura_C on 27/02/2013</em>

I agree with Gorobattie. I think you have to have realistic expectations. I know quite a few families that will have both a cleaner and a nanny because the training/nature of the job is very different. My friend has a nanny from the UK and they interviewed very thoroughly because they knew how important it was for their child to have someone who is a proper nanny and she is amazing with them. She does classes with them, plays with them, adores them, the children love her. They also have a maid who is fantastic at her job, so they have the best of both worlds.

Yes, just make sure you do have health insurance even if it is emergency only. You don't want to be stuck out here with a huge bill. There is no NHS out here! I am from the US so I am used to it, but I have so many UK friends that just don't seem to understand the dangers of not having health insurance. I know I am American so I can be a bit paranoid, but have heard too many horror stories to take on that risk. I also used Aurora as well. She was very good and helpful for me as well. If you want, I can pass on her details - aurora at pacificprime dot com

Hi I'd be careful if you are switching from insurer to insurer for maternity reasons. You may need to go through another waiting period all over again! How long have you been with Aetna? I've heard some not so good things about ADNIC. Not so sure about Daman though.

I think it has to do with how many people are trying to use it at the same time. I noticed that my internet got slower and slower as more and more people moved into my building. it was brand new when I first moved in. I also notice that it is much much faster in the mornings!

You should DEFINITELY include Highway 1 in California as a part of your trip. It is the most beautiful road I've ever driven on. 14 hours just flew by. I did the trip from San Francisco down to Los Angeles. Big Sur is the setting for many Jack Kerouac novels and one of the most beautiful coastlines.

I have been quoted for my pregancy by Daman and it seems the most reasonable and as I am already pregnant I don't have many options. I did read on here that someone had a bad experience with them??? Would anyone like to share their Maternity insurance stories with me please? TIA I'd be careful. I had a friend who was pregnant and they quoted her a really high price to cover the cost of the pregnancy. I guess it makes sense. It seems too good to be true that you pay only a little and they pay for your whole pregnancy. Her plan was originally supposed to be around 7000, but they made it around 30,000 because they said the pregnancy was going to be very expensive for them.

Hi Mk-in-Dubai I think you get dental on top of a regular medical insurance plan. You can't just buy it by itself I've heard. If you want, here are my broker's details. She'd know more than me about this stuff. Her email is [email protected] Was very helpful for me.

Health Authority of Abu Dhabi - Basically they require you to always have health insurance, so when you're applying for health insurance in Abu Dhabi, they will check to see when your last one expired if you've been living in the UAE for some time.
