There is a restaurant called Ember, next to Bloomingdales, which is part of the Address hotel which is open. Expensive, but the food is good and its quick turnaround.

The radio said there is an 8 car pile up just out the front of Dubai Marina Mall. SZR is banked up to nearly MOE. It literally looked like a car park this morning.

The apartments across the road from the last block of Golden Mile are apparently nearly the same, I think they are called The Residences, but like everything, they also have their issues. We are in Golden Mile as well and as soon as our lease is up, we are out of there, as much as I love the size of the apartment. Its such a shame but the lack of services and broken promises is just the last straw. We are going to look for a villa as we have a small dog.

Me too, I'm vain :) Absolutely loved the result and it lasted a long time, I had juvederm. Its been just over a year and I am starting to feel that I may need a top up. The only thing holding me back is that it was a little painful, but I didnt time my injection well and hadnt let the emlar cream stay on for long enough. My advice, do you research find out the pro's and con's and make your decision yourself. My DH is very much against botox, juvaderm etc but as I said to him, I'm not doing this for you, I'm doing it for me. If it helps me (and me alone) deal with the aging process then I am happy, it doesnt affect other peoples lives or faces. If they have an opinion I will give them the courtesy of listening to their point of view. Good luck.

I was there about 5 weeks ago, and agree with Giggles. Staff are fantastic, food was excellent, beverages free flowing and not watered down (unlike the very expensive and cr@ppy one at Atlantis - NEVER AGAIN). Would go back to Observatory again without a doubt.

I dropped mine into a mojito....! I had cellmetro come and collect it and dropped it back the same day. I think I paid 250 dirhams all up, the service was excellent, I cannot recommend them highly enough. Extremely professional, very friendly.

Hi Ann, We brought our maltese from Brissie to Dubai, and used Jet Pets, they were fantastic and very knowledgable. They will also give you advice on what shots to get. We gathered our little boy the same day he arrived, i dont know if its different in AD, but there was just a little too-ing and fro-ing to actually get him from customs. Which is why I would recommend that you get a door to door service if its available. It will save you a lot of time and frustration and your dog will arrive to your door.

try one of the scrap booking shops, there is one at Jumeirah and one at the Green Community. Otherwise I think you can try one of the photo developing shops such as Kodak.

Me! Love it. Its quiet and I get to have a good look around, no queues at the registers, the staff arent all cranky and pfft off after a hard slog of a day. In and out in 45mins, great start to the day.

There is a surf board shop at Al Barsha just near MOE. I have no idea what its called but its right near Pizza Pazza. They sell fins, alternatively try Rip Curl, Quicksilver or Billabong, they all stock boards (at ridiculous prices) but thats another option. If at a push, order some on line from one of the retailers in Oz or US, where you can get some decent fins.

I usually keep the dog off the lead! Our curtains took 30 minutes for 3 rooms, ceiling to floor. Mind you, for me, 30 minutes of dog barking is much better than listening to some one "hoi-king up a lurgy!" Cant stand it.

What about some of the Italian restaurants. Pasta with tomato sauce doesnt have eyes! Loads of options there. But doesn't most regular pasta contain eggs that a vegan would not eat? Vegan's dont eat eggs either? Sorry I had no idea. Ok a dumb question but I am interested in your replies, eggs dont have eyes and the chooks dont get hurt when they lay their eggs (if they arent battery hens) wouldnt that be ok?

CW, let me see if I can get a map, I am hopeless at explaining where the antiques museum is and I am normally good with directions. Its one of the funniest places I have ever been to here, you can even get roses made out of g-strings...! Plus their picture framing isnt too bad either.

Chiggy, . I have seen harem pants in Karama in the little store that has the sun dresses. If you are coming from the fish market its in the third block on your right, very left hand corner. Same block as the bike store and its only very litte. Maybe the textile souk would also have them.

There are two shops in City Centre they are both quite good and the prices are quite reasonable. I cant remember the names (sorry) but definitely worth a try. Your right though, Canon in Dubai Mall are hopeless.

Another Q'lander here and Gold Coast girl too Ginnee. I know when I miss home I usually go and get some tim tams or mint slices..drown my sorrows in chocolate. Take heart, it does get better, it just takes time. You will meet some amazing people in Dubai and here on the forum. Just hang in there :)

There are a heap of stores ear marked to go in to Golden Mile, but its like CP said, I will believe it when I see it. We (residents) were all promised that pool would be ready last March (2010) but still no pool or gym for that matter. I guess if they open Waitrose and the other shops do take up tenancies then the best thing that Nakheel/IFA could do would be to fix up the dust bowl out the back near the monorail. It would be wonderful to sit in the sun having a coffee whilst the dust swirls around. Although I do get a chuckle out of this one because Nakheel issued a press release and says "we are building a park" then there is flurry of work trucks dumping sand and digging holes, once the media coverage is cover...voila...the site goes silent. The dust bowl remains and really, its just a rubbish dump for a lot of the grubs that now reside around this area. Rant over!!!

I had the same issue but I couldnt let go of my clothes (think I have hoarding issues) DH had been nagging me for months to sort out the wardrobe because his space was decreasing and I think my clothes were like bunnies and kept on multiplying. The thought of chucking clothes from my fav shops at home, stuff never worn and just good old favourites was terrifying. I ended up booking Kelly Lundberg to do a wardrobe review she helped with the decisions on what to get rid of, what was the best for my shape its the best thing I have done. Now my clothes are organised, all the stuff that wasnt flattering has gone and I have some awesome outfits and only had to add with some accessories.

Oh my, what such a terrible tragedy and unfortunately I think we will hear more such sad stories over the next few days as the waters peak and the king tides come in. I am thankful my family are safe and comforted by the knowledge that us Aussies will band together and offer a helping hand just like in 1974.
