Good to know that Turkish airlines could be an option. Air Berlin are coming out a little more expensive than the others mentioned (but still cheaper than EK and Etihad, of course!!) Has anyone flown with Air Berlin yet?

Hmmm....thats worth bearing in mind! Thanks Eva B. I recently went on a 4 hour flight with no seat back entertainment and thought it wouldn't bother me. but it drove me absolutely mad, so god knows what I'd be like for almost 8 hours!!!

Would definitely recommend Cathy at Orthosports; Or Neasa or Zarin at City. They're all excellent and very up to date in their skills and techniques. HTH

TENS machines can be really helpful - can fit in your pocket and be used anytime and anywhere instead of popping pills. I would recommend you go and see a physio so they can teach you how to use one properly tho, rather than just getting one off the shelf and trying to work it out for yourself. Im fairly certain that the physio's at City use TENS machines and so could help you. HTH.

We have a Save More Account with Standard Chartered. Cant remember the exact details but i think you get something like 4% if you dont make withdrawals. I think there's a bit more to it than that, but worth a look. We're quite happy with it! :) NOPE - sub standard chartered have cut that to 2% now,...... No way! Really?? [email protected] we need to start paying more attention to our bank acc!! Thanks for the heads up on that one Izzy99!

Thanks for the advice SuzyQS. Would be great if you could find the agency details - even if i just got them to look at my CV and make suggestions. I have tried to alter it so there's more of an emphasis on my transferable skills, rather than just the jobs iv done (which is pretty much just physio for the last 11 years!) I think maybe i just need to start applying for things and sending my CV out whether Im fitting their criteria or not and seeing if anything comes back, rather than waiting for something I think I fit and only then applying. Perhaps this has been one of my downfalls so far!

Thanks dikane and dally. Its reassuring that maybe there are things out there that i could be applying for and just need to stop talking myself out of it!! Just out of curiosity Dally, what is the line of work you're in, and altho not having the degree and UAE experience, did you have experience in that line of work previously?

SAHM......Of course!!! (DOH!!) Will def do a search for RC's - sounds interesting and like something i could actually utilize my skills for! Altho im amazed they have been advertising posts like this over here! I did the Manual Handling training for hospital staff in my last job and really enjoyed it - tried looking for similar training posts but came to a dead end. I considered trying to set up my own business and offering my training services out to other hospitals / businesses as i think awareness of the importance of this kind of thing is really growing in the region. but i dont have the funds, and we are thinking of maybe trying to start a family over the next 12-18 months, so prob not the best time to try and start a new business! Hubby keeps going mad at me for not getting the gulf news!! Im searching all the websites tho! Is there really much difference between what's advertised in the papers compared to on the net??

Hi Twokids! Yeah, my physio degree still counts over here (UK trained). Have been considering HR, Recruitment and training posts but I either cant find them, or when i do, i dont feel like i fit the criteria so think its going to be a waste of time applying, so then I dont! I just assume that if they're so specific about what they're asking for then they wont be interested in someone with no experience at all in that area. When you say a Rehabilitation Consultant, what do you mean? (I havent heard of this title before but sounds interesting!) How did you manage the transition into HR? Did you go directly to companies or did you go through an agency? And im sorry but iv got to ask......what on earth does SAHM stand for?? I keep seeing people putting that on EW over the last few days and dont have a clue what it stands for!!! :\:

Thanks for the suggestion egg, but paeds isnt my speciality area. Plus i worked here as a physio for a year before becoming a lady of leisure, and it was enough to put me off for life! Or at least in this country anyway. Just need to find an opportunity in a new direction. Applied for a great looking job with Emirates in their training department - the only job iv found so far where i did actually fit the spec!! But heard nothing back. Sooo disappointed!!! :( If only i knew the head of recruitment there!! lol!

I know exactly what you mean Haz about the frustration! Hubby is also getting frustrated (i think on my behalf) so its causing all sorts of stupid squabbles! I feel that i have loads of transferable skills - i've managed a team, done appraisals, supervision, teaching and training of students and staff and i have a degree.....BUT, my degree is in such a specific area - how do you break in to something new?!

Thanks Queen Bee - nice to know im not the only one! Im fine on the computer skills side of things - its more that they want degrees in business / marketing or other such degrees, and even for things like real estate (which i though might be a little easier to get in to as a stepping stone perhaps) they all want things like a minimum of x-number of years sales experience with a proven track record of success in that specific area! And in other things, they're very nationality specific - and funnily enough, its not Brits they're asking for! Im guessing as there are other nationalities they can get to do the same job for far less!! Our funds are pretty tight at the moment so would have to think long and hard about doing courses etc and could only really justify it if i knew it would give me a step up a ladder somewhere at the end of it. I know what you're saying about it being who rather than what you know over here, but the majority of the people I know here are from my previous job, so dont really have any links in to potential new areas. Thought I'd try and get on Linkedin.com lastnight but im completely baffled!!! :\:
