I agree, EISM is a lovely multicultural school, my son is very happy there. He started at KG1, the interview was more an interview for the parents rather than the child! He was asked to just doodle on some paper while the principal spoke to us. (this was 4 years ago, so not sure if interview techniques have changed, however the same principal is still there)

Sorry girls, I was offline and out of circulation for awhile! If anyone wants the Moroccan bath vouchers, 2 are still available, they have to be used by Oct 30. Let me know.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I was offline for awhile! I agree, a few posts/posters on EW are a bit over the top on CC praise... a bit suspicious. I have decided not to send DD yet, maybe next term. Thanks for all the responses.

Joys of a working mum!! I tried different ways, most of which did not work out. Now I try to lock DS and me into one of the bedrooms for 30 mins (generally 6.30 to 7 pm) every weekday. (The locking is to prevent my other little DD from disturbing us lol) It's generally maths/English on alternate days. Spellings are done either on weekends or in the car etc.. Unfortunately this totally cuts into outdoor play time, still to figure out how to include that as well.

Hi there, I have two vouchers for moroccan bath + hair blowdry at the Zen Asia spa in JLT. Bought it awhile back to go with my best friend, but she did not come to Dubai after all. Let me know if you are interested. It is a good deal for AED 69 each which is a 76% discount.

3 years for us and I vividly remember the inferlity doubts...loool! Both of us thought 3 years was just right, we travelled a fair bit and enjoyed our time together.

Please share your experiences if anyone has done Perth via an airline other than Emirates or Etihad... the last time we flew with Emirates, but I see that prices have increased dramatically! bit of a shock to my system. We would not mind doing a stopover at HK or Singapore as well. TIA edited by Majoe on 18/09/2011

I am absolutely appalled by Bellydancer's reply. I suppose if she has daughter she won't be sending them to university as what is the point because in her view when they have a family they would have to stay at home to look after the kids. I have always worked since having my children both full time and part time. I don't feel I am a bad parent. It installs a work ethic in my children especially my daughter who can see she can have a successful career doing what she wants as well has having a loving family. True its not easy - but our kids get all the support they need from both parents and hopefully will grow up to be balanced individuals who realise that they can get good jobs which will see them through their adult lives. Totally agree! Its tough and stressful but it can be done. All the best Lynn66.

Because most of the other neighborhoods are still newish. Jumeira has been there a lot longer. Agreed, so many suburbs in Dubai are still very new. Established areas like Bur Dubai and Karama also have their fair share of nurseries.

Thanks Suzie. I hope your little one gets used to it soon. It's always hard in the beginning, after all its a totally new place for him. Hope the teachers and staff there are the kind welcoming types!

CABear, it is very common here, but I have a feeling its not very common with some cultures. My DD is with a lovely lady who has taken care of her since she was 9 months old.

I agree, asking for the advance now, rather than June is quite ridiculous. However, much better than many other schools in Dubai!!! Another point to note is that anyone in Dubai should know never to compare school practices in Dubai vs rest of the world!

there is a Kodak shop on the ground floor of Lulus Barsha - 4x6 prints are 1 dh each when you print more than 100 prints.
