Depends where abouts you want to live. We settled in Arabian Ranches and used House Hunters and Better homes. Both have websites. They do properties all over Dubai but have offices based at Arabian Ranches. Good luck with the villa hunting!

Hey I did this on my sons verrucca, after trying over the counter products to no avail. Lo and behold a week later the verrucca was gone! I thought it was just an old wives tale but it definitely works.

Look on the notice board in the supermarket at Arabian Rancehes . I saw 2 adverts today for a 17yr old and a 19yr old british girl offering babysitting services. Let me know how you get on.

Hi , We just moved here with Crown Relocations and their service has been great. Kept us informed all the way of delivery dates, customs clearance etc. They also have their own team here in Dubai and do not contract out their services to other companies which I think makes a difference. Good luck with the move.

I agree with the pale and interesting look over here. I've always used spray tan before coming to Dubai as I have pale freckly skin but have struggled to buy home done fake tan spay. When I asked in a pharmacy the other day they said they don't sell it because most people want pale skin. They actually sold more skin bleacher, I think thats what she called it. If I was you I'd wear at least Factor 50 every day and definitely SPF on your face. I've been here 3 weeks and already am getting an ok tan. Ok its not like the blitzed tan you get when you're going on your annual 2 week holiday but then what is the rush:-)

Shahzadee, thats really bad, they had no right to make you do that. The uk is regulated by the Dft and I have their most up to date legislation from 3 weeks ago from work before I left for Dubai and what they asked you to do was totally ridiculous. Obviously some jobsworth who didn't know what they were doing. If anybody needs any info off the document for future travels have a look on the Dept for Transport website, should be on there if not I have a master copy on e-mail I can forward. Handy to have a printed out copy of A4 document in your bag....they can't question that!

No worries, you should be ok if they are sealed but by law they can ask to sample up to 50% of the solid foods taken. Its a bit of a pain so maybe take some extras just in case. We've flown into quite a few european airports with babies and toddlers, and touch wood, to date I've only ever had to taste one.....it was disgusting! lol.

Sorry I meant to say that the rumour you heard about opening half the food is nonsense. They can ask you to sample baby food, ie solids for them but that is still pretty rare. Formula and milk is fine.

Hi, I used to work in UK aviation and can guarantee you that the rules state you can take as much formula with you as you need as long as it is all sealed and that the baby is travelling with you. This includes all powdered milk, ready made formula and powdered milk. This can be carrried in you hand baggage and your hold baggage. I'm pretty sure the french ruling is the same as our department for transport regs. Don't worry you'll be fine have a nice time in Paris.

Hi, we arrived 3 weeks ago and looked at the sames locations you are looking at. My son will be in Y3 at DSO. Its very much personal taste as to wether or not you live in SO or Arabian Ranches. You get more for your money in SO but there is definitely more of an established community feel at Arabian Ranches. I had the same worries as Betti aboutliving near their school friends and now I'v e looked around I would say either location would be fine. We opted for Arabian ranches in the end. Good luck with the move.

We've just moved here with husbands job and were looking for the same. If you go to the community centre at Arabian Ranches there are 2 agents based on site. We looked with Annie from Better homes and Gwen from House Hunters. Both were really informative and we were able to view a number of properties in the one day. We dragged the children round and it was too much and too hot, so best to do it before they come out! We viewed in Saheel, Al Mahra, Alvorada and Mirador. All of these do 4 bed plus maids room. Its really a personal taste thing and also about what layout works for you. Plus view numerous villas of the same type as their is a massive difference from one to another. Good luck with the house hunting, we may bump in to you once you're settled.
