The book shop (can't remember what it's called) in The Greens Village shopping centre has quite a large selection too!

I use Champions in the Greens village shops Never had an issue and they have cleaned all sorts of items from dresses to duvets Thanks, sarahlou. I was kind of hoping for a recommendation of a non-chainy well kept secret kind of company though... Just because they're usually cheaper. But! If I don't find one, thank you for your suggestion and recommendation on that Champions! I can see from a few threads that the Champion company has been bashed a bit so it's good to hear someone disagree and say they haven't had any problems.

The real question should be, why is GENERAL ROAD SAFETY not mandatory here? Or at least, not enforced and obeyed here. The amount of kids I see standing up between the two front seats, people (mostly women by the way...just sayin') talking/texting on their phone, gets me so angry!!! It's so blimmin' dangerous and all these distractions cause drivers to not bother looking where they're going when they switch lanes. Urgh.. The worst I've seen is a woman taking selfies, SELFIES!! With her FLASH ON as well, all whilst driving in the fast lane!! And a guy balancing his iPad in one hand whilst he Skyped. Unbelievable. Edit: Yes mannikat!! That's what I'm always saying to mu husband, that this place needs a huge educational campaign. edited by poshbird87 on 06/07/2014

Sorry to pinch your thread, OP! But can anyone recommend a good dry cleaner near The Greens? I took some bits once to the guy in the small Geant, and I promise you, at least 3 of my items were NOT TOUCHED because they still had all the various little splashes of food stains etc on them and they felt as soft/worn as they were when I dropped them off. I didn't check the items straight away and ended up leaving it far too long to go back to him and complain, unfortunately >:-(

The article says it'll only be available in the MOE and Dubai Mall Sephoras but I'm hoping they'll change their mind and stick it in the Marina Mall Sephora too. Wonder if they'll stock the elusive Nars ITA Brush too. That brush is so hard to find! It's not even available on their website!! https://www.google.com/search?q=Nars+ita+brush&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=7SS4U6unFYWM7AbsuYHoCg&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg&biw=1280&bih=610

I brought mine over from the UK on my last visit. Sacrificed a few pair of shoes for it as well as not everything would fit! Love my Chenille throws. Laura Ashley, don't you know! ;) Wish they'd bring Laura Ashley over here :( edited by poshbird87 on 30/06/2014

The upholstery shops in Satwa would probably make them if they are not standard size. Good luck. Thanks for the tip :) I found 40cm x 40cm ones, as well as 45cm x 45cm ones in Homes R Us and Home Centre (they were ever-so slightly cheaper in Homes R Us) but couldn't find ones at any other size, particularly at 56cm x 36cm which is what I need so will definitely give Satwa a go. It was annoying because both shops sell cushions with removable covers at that size, but they don't sell the inserts! Didn't really want to spend 50dhs on a cushion just to throw away the cover and use the insert.

Home centre have a few sizes. Brilliant. Thank you. Will take a peek there. Sacrificed so much room in my suitcase for these covers that I'm desperate to use them, haha!

I have 5 cushion covers that I brought back from the UK that I need to fill with cushions...obviously :) Four of them are a standard 15" x 15" And the other is 14" x 16" I went to IKEA but they didn't have any. Does anyone know of anywhere that stocks various sizes? Not really patient enough to order from the Internet and wait for delivery...

Wow! :-O Thanks again everyone for all your help. And also thank you for the inspirational words, I will not give up! \o/ From all the info here, I've got a busy day ahead of me tomorrow, calling, emailing, and editing profiles :) To any other ladies who may be in the same position as I am and are lurking this thread, my husband said that word on the street (well, from the guy who is designing their new print) is that the Dubai World Trade Centre is also hiring. Have just had a quick look before bed and couldn't see a list of vacancies, so probably going to be a call-up-and-ask jobbie.

Thank you so much for the the replies so far! They're all really helpful! Will definitely look into Kingston Stanley, Elite Talent Solutions, and Javaro :) Yes, 4 months is in no way as long as some people have been looking, I know. Try telling that to my parents though! I've been to a few of the Bayt coffee mornings at the Marina Mall Nero, and some women there have been looking for work for 9 months! And they're women who are trained and educated in very specific industries but can't find any vacancies! Felt really sorry for them. I am on LinkedIn but have never really used it as I've always thought it's a bit of a gimmick? But if you're sure it's actually a serious avenue to pursue then perhaps I'll take some time to update my profile. Yes, CALLING UP companies. Haven't done this yet. Not sure who to ask for or what to say... Also the British in me doesn't want to appear too pushy or rude even though if I could I'd be flat out BEGGING for a job if I could, haha! Seriously though, what should I say, especially if they're not advertising for any jobs on their website? Just call up and introduce myself, tell them how much I like the look of their company and how I think I could fit in well with their ethos and team? With regards to networking, other than tweeting companies commenting on a story they've posted, or just traditionally sparking up conversations with people out and about (that doesn't happen very often to be honest, though) what else would you suggest I do? I'm honestly a real novice at this job hunting malarky. Before my job at the magazine I was at Uni, and before that I was just working cafe, restaurant, and office jobs. This point in my life is the FIRST time I've ever looked for a "proper" job in order to make a career out of it.

Husband and I are currently short-term renting (££££!!!) for 3 months in Travo B, and so far we love it!! The building is lovely and clean, there was some mould on the ceiling of our corridor when we moved in (about 8 weeks ago) but that's gone now so I'm guessing they sorted it pretty sharpish. Pool is nice too. Although it's shared with Travo A, it's never really that busy, and neither is the gym. With regards to noise, we just might be really lucky, but we cannot hear a THING from either side of our apartment. Apparently this is a quite a new build? So perhaps they made sure to have thick walls. What else what else what else?....A-HA! No cold water :( I don't know if that's a Dubai thing? But bath/shower tap, bathroom sink tap and kitchen tap, no matter which way you swing it, it's hot. And in the case of the kitchen tap, one side is BOILING HOT. This is quite annoying for teeth brushing and washing 'down there' *ouch!* Other great aspect is the friendly neighbours who always greet you and say good night to you in the lift :) Trying to get my dad over in the UK to buy an apartment here because our landlord is making an absolute MINT from renting this place out. edited by poshbird87 on 20/10/2013

Thanks, Sanddy_Dogg. I signed up late last night and have been shopping ever since! Only annoying thing has been when I fill up my amazon basket and realise certain items will be shipped separately due to not being 'fulfilled' by amazon. One of these items is an eyebrow pencil from the US. I'm not paying AED 43 just for the pencil! So I've had (haha "HAD") to bulk it out with more purchases. Get that mutha up to 500g!! :D

Spinney's Motor City had some of the Palmers Cocoa Butter with a hint of self tan this afternoon. On the end of the body moisturiser aisle facing the cosmetics Oh my word, robertj77!! You absolute BEAUTY, YOU!!! :D As soon as I read this post I jumped in the car to get it!! It's so sad but this has made me so happy, haha! Except, jeez...I forgot how strongly of Cocoa Butter it smelled. Now I remember why I only used this one on my legs and the Garnier Summerbody one on my body :-/ But still, thank you!! :D I bought 3 bottles! Now, this Shop & Ship thing...can someone explain it to me better than the website, please? Either I'm on the wrong website (shopandshipdotcom) or I just can't seem to understand anything on their "How We Roll" page. Here's how I understand it: You sign up, then as part of the sign up you have to immediately pay $45.00, then you get given an "account number" which is actually an address?, and THAT address is the one you input into your delivery address when you buy something off anything that delivers to UAE, and then...that...will...make it so I don't...pay for delivery? Because I've already paid my $45 or whatever it is to SnS? Sorry I sound like such an idiot! [b'>EDIT:[/b'> Just found a thread on here that explains it. Turns out I was right! Sorta... edited by poshbird87 on 19/10/2013 edited by poshbird87 on 19/10/2013

Lulu's Al Barsha (the one behind MOE) stocks it!! Well, they did on 1st September 2013 according to my receipt. However they didn't have any when I went to do my shop today. But as we've definitely purchased it from there before, perhaps they were just out of stock this time.

Wow, what a great response!! Thank you , everyone x Particular thanks to Sanddy_Dogg who volunteered her Dad to be my Moisturiser Mule! Haha! And to sarahlou123 who also offered valuable suitcase space to cram in my vain girly products :) What I think I'll do is try and get family from the UK to send it via Royal Mail or DHL as Tattie Bogle suggested, and if that doesn't work, Sanddy_Dogg I may come back to you with your offer if that's ok...! Unfortunately I don't have any friends or family coming over from the UK to visit until at least Christmas :( I just purchased some of my favourite cream from ebay in the UK, and it was sent to me royal mail. It arrived five days later, in perfect condition, although customs had opened it to check it. hope that helps :) So did you use your normal UK eBay login, but put your address down as Dubai? What are the postage costs like? I purchased a product from an American online store, the product was $25 but the postage was $27!!! :-O It is possible by post, I've had my sister send me stuff. Although, I think the post office at home suggested she write gels instead of liquids on the packaging. However, it was very obviously liquids and it got through, so maybe worth a go. FFx Did your sister post your stuff through Royal Mail?
