I feel exactly the same! I'm back at work and lo is 6months. I used to go to the gym before work and now I feel guilty as its less morning time with him :( feeling very sluggish as a consequence :(

Hi ladies - ive started weaning my little one recently and just a few boring questions What do you ladies do with homecooked food when out and about? I find emersing it in water just takes forever so is it really feasible? and what about at home? im trying to avoid a microwave if possible.... How best do you store at home? ice cube trays? Til when is that portion size right? Thanks so much!

hi sal123 - im currently doing the same (altho at 6mnths not 9mnths - well done!) and i went through same process for the first few days - i recommend Aptamil 1 first milk breastmilk substitute- it was recommended to me by several drs and maternity nurses in europe as the best substitute and i agree with Kiwispers - go for the 0-6mnths...good luck! it takes a few days - and dont forget at the beginning they will eat a lot less as its thicker/heavier...

you are right meagle - and i agree i am not so stringent on time schedules - and try to follow the napping 2-2.5hrs post wake up too - altho recently he has been wanting to stay up that bit later/longer before his morning and afternoon nap and i have attributed it to him getting a little older but it seems thats not working either!

at the moment - i am feeding him 6.30pm and 11pm. when he wakes up at 9pm we put him back to bed as i just feel its too soon to be hungry? we are also putting him back to bed anytime bween 3-6 without food as what was happening is that he would eat and then not be hungry at 7am (and start of a vicious circle) he has a 1,5-2hr nap in the morning and a 1-1.5hr nap at 1ish. i try to get him down for a nap at 4ish but he rarely agrees to it. even if we are out for a walk and hes in the pram or car!

Im exhausted!!!!! and i know he is feedng well during the day - so i feel hes waking up for a cuddle and will only sleep in my arms - i put him back in his cot and he flips out! WHats so weird tho - is he can self settle for naps and normal bedtimes - so why is he waking so much at night? hes waking at 9pm at 3 and at 5! By 6am i give up and feed him as i figure i may as well get an extra hour with him before work. But its exhausting! And im too tired to make him cry it out!

Sorry, another quick question - is 2 days a week a good start you think? Enough times for him to get acclimatised or would 3 times be better?

Hi Meagle - agreed and he typically naps for around 3-4hrs a day. But recently he's wanting to stay up a bit later. We have now managed to get rid of the 1am wake up. We are still getting the 830pm ( not feeding him then) and around 4-5am and I try and hold out til 6ish (super tough) I knw he's def feeding better during the day and we have slowly been introducing solids recently.

Yes that's also my concern - that it's become a habit - and he's so full from night feeds that he's inefficient during the day! Yesterday I fed him at 7pm 9pm and 12.30! Def too much! He woke up again at 4ish but I just tried to console him til 615am when I gave him a feed. (On previous nights, he's eaten so much at 4am - he refuses my boob at 7am!) I ave recently started introducing both formula and purées (once a day)

Lol October very true! In fact it's something I'm always having a go at DH about ( that he should wear black socks lol) MISoMA - yes we do so perhaps that contributes. beebers - thanks for the suggestions - my floor is that typical dubai ceramic flooring and we typically use a string mop - can that with the metal head be put in washing machine? Do they sell murphys here in dxb?

Thank you ladies that's very comforting to hear. I plan to keep lo at hummingbird (assuming all is well) til he s of nursery age and then hope to move him elsewhere then. Have been hearing negative comments about daycare at an early age so always comforting to hear success stories! From a selfish point of you - it's great to have the little one so close to me during the day!

Thanks kiwispers - much better to view now :) and appreciate your advice - i definitely want to look at some way of continuing at least a little breastfeeding when I'm at work - maybe the mornings and nights - don't know how feasible it will be - was concerned it would dry up if I didn't pump at work?

Thanks kiwispers - I don't know what's happening but I'm not able to read your whole msg because of the ads on the right hand side - anyone else having this issue? I'd like to think that I'd continue bfing when I go back to work but my work is quite high pressured so I don't know if realistically I'd be able to continue with the pumping or whether I'd want to ( 5 months mat leave here in dubai is already quite a luxury so I feel I need return all guns blazing!). Bfing is not something that comes naturally to me, ive struggled wth jt and my supply and im not comfortable doing it publically so leaving the house is very dependent on being able to bring a bottle otherwise we stay home, Mind u I've been planning to introduce a bottle for sometime and the guilt keeps stopping me,

Thank you ladies for your various responses! Believe me this is not a decision I'm making lightly, but I need to be realistic re feeding when back at work and surely mixed feeding for another 2-3mnths is better than exclusively bfing for 1 more? Any recommendations for any tried/tested lactation consultants?

Thanks ladies! Yes my doc also recommended aptamil. So if I'm mixing the two at the same feed - how do I know quantity of formula to give?

Hi ladies - so my little one is 3.5mnths now and ebf. I will be back at work when he's just over 5mnths and I would like to build up some freezer supply by the time I go back but at the moment I'm using all my expressed milk for when we are out and about. So I'd like to introduce the occasional bottle of formula to allow me to freeze what I pump and allow me the occasional night out :) Any recommendations of how I should start - should I perhaps start of with half ebm and half formula for the first feeds?

You're right it's not vit D cos he's just as unsettled today. But only usually after the 3pm feed? Any ideas? 4-6ish he's just so miserable recently :( he's EBF and occasionally bottle fed from pumped milk. Will keep closer eye on food - I'm using a steriliser machine...well my maid does.... Could it be done wrongly? Anyone tried infacol? He can't use gripe water...
