Try actually turning the power off then on again, instead of just resetting it. I tried that too....the same thing happens, it stays on for five seconds then switches off again.... Is the water meter that little gauge on the pump??? It shows near zero....

Drink fesh green coconut WATER.( not bottled, or frozen, or canned) . Spinneys , Waitrose, even Lulu sells fresh coconuts ( they have to be green). Works like magic. The colder the better. (its NOT the coconut milk but the water that forms inside the coconut). Note: they sell it peeled ( so you wont see the green on it) so ask around. They are wrapped in plastic. <em>edited by MomOfTwins on 26/09/2011</em>

The school informed us ONE DAY before classes begun that they would learn in an acoustic ( even though the website posted clearly they had lessons for electric AND acoustic - my son is interested in electric and he has one!!) . If you have one you no longer need I'd be happy to buy it from you TODAY, provided it's in working order! Please email me asap at scotiacad at gmail dot com Thanks ladies!

Hi everyone...haven't forgotten this idea, was just waiting until I got my drivers license sorted out ( I got it..YEY!) to be a bit more "mobile". The idea is still up but I might stick to places nearby Arabian Ranches to begin with until I know my way around.....

I think the simple fact that Tim's is open, and everyone here who misses the glimpse of "home" would rejoice after a trace of a whiff from a timbit, or even before your first sip of double double, this is the what's worth going there - the memories they bring, not the product itself ( even though I love them!). I would go there if they sold it from a vending cart out the street. If you ever watched "Ratattouille" you know exactly what I mean! My kids change into PE uniforms and they are 7, no issues. The teacher allows them to leave their trainers at school, they just need to bring in the PE uniform.

It was postponed til next year (2012). It was posted on Expat Echo. Here's the link http://www.expatechodubai.com/new-to-dubai/relief-for-expats-as-id-deadline-extended/#more-127061 Thursday, September 15, 2011 @ 03:09 PM The Emirates Identity Authority has extended the deadline for registering or renewing ID cards for both national and expatriate residents. However, after this deadline fines of Dhs20 a day will be implemented up to a maximum fine of Dhs1,000. The deadline set for nationals to obtain their ID cards is 31st October and for expatriates aged 15 and over living in Dubai the deadline will be June 1st 2012. The Board of Trustees of the Emirates Identity Authority also announced that all children under 15 years old, including nationals and residents, have until 1st October, 2012 to register. After that failure to do so will also land them with a Dhs20 a day fine. <em>edited by MomOfTwins on 19/09/2011</em>

There's a nice Arabic kids channel called Baraem; most of the shows are from BBC and PBS (American) and dubbed into Arabic. It's free to air, and age appropriate from pre-nursery to 6 or 7 yrs (programming for the older kids is shown from 3pm onwards). My 3yr old initially couldn't follow much of it, but now he can, and enjoys it. Great, will give it a try!

MOT, I know how you feel-DD also stated but she is in Year 1 and it seems she's enjoying it...may be too early to tell though! Anyway, I'm sure the school offers some form of support for parents-contact the Arabic teacher and seek advice on what you can do at home. I went out and bought Arabic alphabet blocks as well as a book suggested by one of the ladies here on EW. Good luck Thanks, great advice.....hopefully she/he will be able to guide me! I am looking forward to learning it myself, too!

If all else fails......here's some ideas I fetched online: -Leave something stinky in a bag by the door( you have a dog, don't you? *wink wink*) . The smell will make them move away. It will bother you for a while but they won't sit by your door ( and you will probably be the talk of the corridor for a while....LOL) - Buy one of those "ding dong!" electronic sensors. It will keep ringing at the slightest movement. They will figure out they're causing it and move away. (probably the best solution) - Can you decorate your doorway with some pots and plants? So buy a few large ones, leaving no room for them to sit near it. Plant something "thorny" like Cactus. Even fake ones, as there might not be much light for real plants. - Download some Halloween songs and screams. (I have a whole playlist we used to leave playing at home when we would go trick or treating, from Psycho themes to AAAAAAAAHs to BOOOOOOOOs) , ya know, "scary stuff". It will hopefully scare them away, leave it playing loud when you are not at home. Might scare the kids too but hey, you're in your home. - If all else fails, borrow a bigger dog from a friend (or maybe two.... or three) and come home with them a few times....... Good luck (AM i EVIL? MWAHAHAHAHA!) :D

I relocated from Canada and after months sending in papers via email etc .....after weeks of emails back and forth and finally got to visit the school to bring in the papers (in my mind, registration would be done then and there) I was told AT THE SCHOOL that my kids "wouldn't be able to follow their curiculum as they (the school) were too advanced in the British curriculum for their current level" :O AND....She told me that in front of other parents. :O :O My kids had just finished Grade 1. She said that to my face, not over the phone. My kids were then assessed and admitted in the same curriculum at another known school and the professional who assessed them here said they were "Exactly where they should be" (in regards to their level) and he also made a remark they were "very advanced for their age group'. I'll stick to my current choice. Just my personal experience. Not mentioning school names.

It's a possibility as it may bring in extra custom for a venue. The guy at Burts who organises it is from Liverpool but don't know the set up. Maybe my other half will bring is guitar back with him next time he visits the UK, like I say I know he misses messing around. I have an electric and an acoustic and a battery operated mini amp! He can come join us, no prob!!!!!

I was in this dilemma for our anniversary last year so I went to www.blurb.com and literally grabbed photos of where we've been when we met , like photos of restaurants and photos of us together etc... - and wrote the story about how we met. You can do something like that. They print the book (make it private otherwise someone else can see it online) and mail it to you. Outstanding book quality. I paid $180 canadian dollars for my book which was the largest size they had, shipping included. Hopefully there's enough time....

Hi there, I am brazilian, and as far as I know a booster or car seat is NOT mandatory in taxis or buses. But if you think your child should use one, the bubblebum is a great idea. Here's a recent article in Portuguese that you can translate with Google Translate http://revistacrescer.globo.com/Revista/Crescer/0,,EMI5535-15343,00.html Good luck.....can I come too? :(
