Hi there, Yes, I understand your situation. Unfortunately it happens all the time. I have to say that sometimes people are just having problem getting used to the new situation, but she is in your house, so I can’t give you any advice on that. If you are not happy with her work and she is not performing her duties as agreed than it is your right to fire her. You should not feel bad about this. All of us are working for certain salary and certain performance is expected from us for the money we are getting. For you to cancel the contract you must check several things: First you need to look at her contract and the notice period mentioned there. Also look at the probation period, as usually it is 6 months and if you are not looking to keep her you should terminate her contract during this probation period due to unsuccessful probation. If neither is mentioned then you should follow the general rules of one month notice. In this case you should know that if you want her to leave immediately you will have to pay her this month. Also if she is going back home you will have to pay her one way ticket to her home country – repatriation. All other cost for the visa cancellation will be on you also. Hope this helps. edited by mpp_jl on 22/10/2012

Hi, i have lived in the skycourts building and have had the charges for the cooling. you pay a general monthly charge of around 200dhs then extra for the consumption, i think this can be anything up to 600dhs, depending how much you use your AC!!! dont forget though you have your DEWA bill on top of this which again is approx 200-300dhs per month. hope this helps :) thanks a lot :)

Yes, have had both my last jobs through websites (Gulf Talent especially) - recruiters have contacted me through here. As loranaji says, don't give up, but do make sure the CV posted is FABULOUS. I can't tell you the amount of CVs I reject as they have poor written English and bad grammar (and this is from native English speakers!), or ones that run to over 2 pages - you just get bored. Make sure the CV is a 'teaser advert' - make the recruiter want to call you as you sound perfect for the job, without giving everything away. Couldnt agree more! hehe.... welcome to my world... my favorite this week is "more better".... edited by mpp_jl on 25/04/2012

No, no need. The owner will have all documents needed for you and he/they can help you with all details. Some things even are faster if done by the owner and you at the same time :) Are you dealing with a person or company? Makes a big difference. edited by mpp_jl on 20/03/2012

The first day of northern hemisphere spring and southern hemisphere autumn for 2012 is Tuesday March 20, 2012. The vernal equinox, which marks the beginning of northern hemisphere spring, is actually not a day but an instant in time. This year the vernal equinox is at 5:14 coordinated universal time on March 20. That would be just after midnight in the Eastern Standard Time zone and just after 9 pm on March 19 in the Pacific Standard Time zone. The vernal equinox occurs when the Sun, as seen from Earth, is directly above the equator moving from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere. On the day of the equinox the Sun rises and sets directly in the east and west. After the vernal equinox the Sun rises and sets north of due east and west. Before the vernal equinox the Sun rises and sets south of east and west. As the Sun appears further north in the sky, days become longer in the northern hemisphere and shorter in the southern hemisphere. In addition the Sun appears more nearly directly overhead in the northern hemisphere and lower in the sky in the southern hemisphere. Therefore the Sun's energy shines more directly and is less spread out in the northern hemisphere. It will get warmer (spring) in the northern hemisphere and cooler (fall) in the southern hemisphere. The tilt of Earth's rotation axis causes this effect and the reversal of the seasons in the northern and southern hemispheres.

Hi Ladies, I remember before there was a post about Dubai school for dentistry that gives the opportunity for people to get free things done by students as a training for the students. I've tried to search for it, but no luck. Could someone pass me the info if you have it? I have friend that her husband needs to remove a tooth, but can't pay for it. I remembered that there was an option for a student to do this and it was for free, so... TYIA

:D You are so sweet .... You need to go to any Post office with parcel services - check online for the one near you, and they will send it for you. Have in mind that some items are not slowed to travel internationally like liquid, etc. If they require more packing the Post office have boxes, you just need to pay for it. It is actually cheaper that the Courier, but not very slow as you could imagine :) Good luck

LOL..... I don't think that anything is wrong with your DS. He is hyperactive child and this is very good :) This means that he is smarter than normal for his age and he needs more attention to channel this smartness. If the teachers cannot recognize and deal with that, so..... they are not as good as you have thought. Every child is different and the daycare/school/whatever needs to adjust to the child, not the opposite. This is good education! I think you should consider moving your DS to other place just for the above mentioned reason. My DS is also hyperactive child and we also had some problems, but the daycare is managing him very well. So I have to say that there are people that are qualified to handle kids like that.

Hi Perla, I had the same problem. I solved it by choosing a hospital that is covered by my insurance and found a doctor that was good :) I am not sure about your insurance, but I used Belhoul Specialty and Dr. Galia. She was great and also gave me advice on what I need and what I don't need as of tests and insurance :) The delivery is another issue, but for the checkups this worked for me. Cheers

It might be worth putting the time in to find a group of like minded mums who live close by and who would be willing to share childminding. Each mum could commit to one or 2 days of childminding a week and receive the same in return. It's a bit like the fairygod mother group but everyone in the group puts the time in and gets the same time off back in return. Like the idea very much :) I'm in.

Seriously, you can get a westerner to walk your dog (homely petz!) but you can't get one to look after your kids for a few hours? Surely there is a business opportunity there somewhere! Just imagine how complicated this would be just on the side of employment and visa issues..... LOL.... I wanted to take maid outside of the ministry list of nationalities and.....gave up. Why you want this nationality, why not the other one…..impossible …. Hi mpp, sorry just saw your msg. Whereabout are u? I'm sure there must be a solution to this .... when I have enough time..... I will look into it more closely and see how possible or impossible it is. :) If there is a will there is a way! recently moved next to Mirdif, not sure what area is it. yes, If there is a will there is a way! :D cheers

Can anyone tell me WHY you cannot get a British or Western nanny/mothers help here who could work part time??? Why are there no companies who can offer this service? I seriously think I'm going to start one,............. there seems to be such a huge need here for Mum's who just need someone to look after there lo's a few times a week and babysitting on a weekend ect.... why isn't there such a service? Anyone else share this frustration? Surely it could be legal if they were employeed under a company sponsership and provided with accm and food allowances no? I would pay extra for this kind of service.............. grrrrrrrrr Sweetie, I got it sometime back :) It is not illegal if it is not paid! How? Well, the "friend" helps you and you can repay the favor with DEWA payment, Etisalat payment, furniture donations, etc. It is not illegal to pay for someone else's DEWA or Etisalat. No one will ask you why and as long as the "friend" is not living with you it's good :) Also if the "friend" has kids too you can call it a party :) There is no actual employment and payment for services, so no law is broken, plus it's s great way to find friends. .....all comments are welcomed...... Lol ok so where do I find me one of these "friends" :) were u are about? my son is 3 and I always need more friends :D

Hi, have any moms gotten their kids immunized at a government clinic in Dubai? Was the staff child-friendly and did you get the appointments on time? Or is it better to go to a private clinic? Hi, I got my LO vaccinations in Al Khaleej Clinic and it was very friendly, the appointments are very flexible and on time, your LO is getting a present after, it is free, they send you sms for the appointment and so on.... u will need to register in the clinic of your area with your tenancy contract copy and HC for your LO. the HC can be done online on Dubai Hospital site. it was very easy and same as the private clinics, just for free :) just note that the vaccines are according to UAE standards, not Europe or US, so if you want to follow your system you'll have to pay little extra for the extra vaccine. I did it in the same clinic and paid 100. hope this helps :)

I will hope just like you that it's just an accident and so on, but I don't think so. I mean, what kind of monster you need to be?! So true Rebecca W. Thanks. It is even harder when you are not there and the news comes to you late. It works both ways too. We are here from last year almost alone. All our close friends left for various reasons, no other family.... It's not nice. I am sorry for your friend. People will say that even if you are there there is nothing you can do and it is true, but still... Ayda247 I understand completely how you felt. They become part of your life so quickly because of their innocence and selfishness... I hope you will have many years of love and fun with your cat :) I have 2 dogs too, but my connection with them is not the same.

Thanks. Really hope so... for the nice moment that is. Desperately need one, just one... My DH is not cat person and can't be my shoulder to cry on. For him is strange how someone can be so emotional about a cat. Maybe I am taking it too personal, but 18 years is half of my life and it's almost like loosing a child... And my friend.... he has 2 kids. One is smaller and sick - has some genetic problem, the other is now....gone.... I don't know even what to say to him... I have a son too and can't imagine how he feels. It's killing me and for him and his wife..... I just don't know. "I am so sorry" sounds so stupid.
