Welcome to Dubai Ashesc, I know exactly how you feel and it will defo take some time for you to adjust. I've been here since November and I'm really enjoying it now...I've managed to make friends through this site although I have had a few friends that have moved here from London too. You have really got to put the effort in when getting to know people, which I found difficult at first but once you start everything falls into place. I found people here nicer, maybe its the weather. I wish you luck looking for a job although i must warn you the process can be very long...when I applied for a job it took them two months to finally get me in to a face to face interview, before that i had countless telephone interviews....I've heard similar stories from a lot of people. The main Grocery stores that I know of is Carrefour in the emirates mall, Geant in Ibn Batutta mall or waitrose in Marina mall....although there are others. they may have an asian section but I'm not aware of a chinese grocery store. (I'm not sure whats closest to your hotel..sorry) Hope that helps, good luck x

Hi all and welcome to the new comers Hope your all well. I have finally recovered from my terrible backaches...turned out to be a UTI which then lead to a yeast infection...honestly the pain was unberable...the tablets made me throw up every evening, but it seemed to happen more when I ate chicken from a resturant, won't be doing that until the baby pops out now. Anyhow, i'll be heading of to London on the 20th April, so I prob won't get to see everyone again until the baby comes...hopefully we can all meet up with our little ones after. I wish you all the very best of luck with and i hope everything goes perfectly for you all. All the best ladies x

All episodes are up to date on you tube, I've been watching them on that ever since i moved here and haven't missed an episode since :) When they are in court, Roxy tells Jack she knows he forged her signature for a passport for Amy...they don't show the remaining of the court hearing and just show Amy in the square with Roxy... Hope i haven't spoiled it but thats how the episodes were shown. x

HI ladies, Hope everyone is well? How are all the scans and everyones general health? I've had a rough few days unfortunately, the worst back pains ever...only had max 3 hours sleep on Friday night, i couldn't move, sit stand sleep or even walk. I really tried to stretch it out but the pain was unbearable. Hubby was up massaging me but the moment he touched my back the pain hit me really hard. So I had my 21 week scan on Saturday and the nurse who was taking my scan saw how much pain I was in and thought it was UTI but said its best you go to emergency as I couldn't even get on or off the couch alone. Before I went, she went about the scan and everything was normal...baby is fine and confirmed it was definitely a little girl kicking around in there :) She showed us in 3D...has anyone else had that yet? It was the most amazing thing i've ever seen...her feature are staring to develop and it looks like she has alot of habits her daddy has already hehehe. Anyhow, emergency dept thought I had kidney stones, so they tucked me into bed, I was so scared...turned out it was tense muscles and all I need is a good massage and and rest. Panadols seem to do the trick for now. x

Bridezilla...far from that, I hadn't spoken to the girls in 3 weeks as i was away doing my wedding shopping abroad, we communicated by facebook...emails were never returned. I lost a whole suitcase and their bridesmaid dresses were stolen, not that it bothered them. I asked them to resend measurements, not that I ever go them... and why would only two girls feel the bridezilla attack and not all 6 of them? I didn't even talk much about my wedding to one of the friends as I know she was having a hard time trying to convince her parents even accepting her bf...i knew she hated wedding talk. As mentioned previously, it has been discussed with them before the wedding, when everything was meant to be sorted out....I have no idea why they brought such negativity to my wedding. If t was me just plucking it out of thin air, then yes I agree I should sit and think how I would approach the situation with them. But it was more or less all my other friends and even some family members who saw how they were behaving and even heard them. I had no idea at the wedding but was heart broken to find out when I moved out.... I guess it should have been obvious when your the only one making the effort. I do appreciate them making the effort to come to the hen, but thats all they did, they had no part of putting it together, booking it, bring part of a group when we all were out or doing anything like that. The first words when we got to the apartment from the two girls was "i'm staying with you from now on" both divided themselves from everyone. As one of the other ladies mentioned, i guess its hard for people to understand unless its really happened to you.

Dubaistar- You're right, I agree with you so much, i'm only 25 but I already feel very cautious about bonding with people again and thats only becuse one of my mates have dropped me and picked me up as she pleases... I know not everyone would do that, but i've been there everytime she turns back to me and now I just don't want to go back. I heard about coffee mornings and i've always wanted to go but have always felt abit alone to make the first move... I guess i'm prob not the only person who is alone out here and will defo try to pluck up the courage to go and meet new people. Redrec Tangle - I agree with you spot on about girls and thats one of the main reasons I could count my girlfirends on one hand and even they turned out to be nasty. Its always been easier to bond with my guy friends because there be none of that gossip/bitchiness etc, they wouldn't look at me the wrong way but would always be there for me, they have always been my carebears :) Thanks so much for this encouragement I guess needed to hear it from other people and it has helped me feel more motivated in making the move and getting out there and meeting new people. Sometimes you have to take a step back to see peoples true colours and I'm so glad i have :) x

The only thing I did was get married... They singled me out on my hen do...one was so blunt and said she doesn't think she'll keep in touch, while the others just sat there... its hard hearing that said to you...the only reason they let everything go was because right before my wedding I had a cancer scare...and when they found out its like they put it all behind them out of sympathy, not because they wanted to... As soon as I was in the clear it seemed as though they didn't have to show they cared no more.... thats why its hard for me to make the first move now.. I don't think I need so called friends like this and I don't want them in my life..it's only hard because all my memories revolve around them, we have mutual friends who I am still very close with and when I go back i'm bound to bump into them as we all live 2 mins away from each other....I just don't know how to deal with it no more, its been four months since i've been here and I'm still so upset about it, maybe it is my pregnant hormones but its not easy to just let it go.

shjbelle - You're totally right, thats exactly how I feel...the only reason I don't want to talk to them is because I know it will upset me even more and I really don't want to effect my unborn child...We have so many mutual friends who all know about my pregnancy but at the same time all know how two faced they both were...so I haven't shared that bit of happiness with them because I just didn't want negativity around my pregnancy. I really am trying not to think about it, thats why its taken me four months to even ask for advice, but its so difficult, i've known then for 9 years and all my memories back home include them. I guess I should have realised when they wasn't bothered about the bridesmaid dresses, hen do and didn't even turn up to the after party of my wedding but I never held that against them. I just didn't know they could be so mean. I haven't sent any letters in the post...and tbh i don't think its worth it...right know they won't even talk to me I've met a few girls from here who are also married and pregnant and it feels so nice to know theres people out here who all, like me are looking for a fresh new start... I really want to move on but the first steps are the hardest.

Everyone has seen the jealousy...and we have spoken about it but obviously its not something she will admit... They both have friends overseas and keep in touch with them...its not uncommon for them to have friends abroad...one even had a long distance relationship and managed to keep that going... Its not the distance that got in the way for sure...we have always been intouch even when we went on family holidays... Friends that I thought wouldn't get in touch have made it so much easier for me to settle down here...and talking about facebook...it was the girls birthday yesterday and I went to leave a message but now I've been blocked to do that...I've tried and tried but i hit dead ends...My mind is telling me to stop but my heart is telling me to sort it out...but i don't want to look like a push over if you know what I mean. I know I made the decision to move and I know it won't be the same...but i'm sure this is not normal, its came to a point were I thought if they were not happy for me on my wedding day why on earth would they be happy to hear i'm pregnant...

One of the girls have been trying to get married just as long as me but her parents have not accepted the relationship...I was always there for her but I can't force her parents to accept it...I did what I could as a friend. There was a point were a number of friends were getting engaged and she was so blunt how angry she was that it wasn't happening to her... she actually said "If anyone else tells me they're getting married, i'm going to punch them in the face" you says that about friends... When we were at Bacelona, I wasn't very well as I just landed from a family holiday three days before... I had huge jet lag and unbelievable stomach cramps...they didn't care less how unwell I was but thought I was being moody...some of the other girls were making an effort but every time we went out the two closest friends always wanted to go home or just wanted to meet guys. :(

Hi Egy, I know exactly what your talking about...i'm in my mid twenties and we only just got married....even before we were married he was just as bad...so i guess i knew what I was getting myself into. I think i'm use to it now...tbh i'm not working so I tend not to nag too much as I know his work is what is putting food on the table. What annoys me is when he leaves work early so we can go to a resort to celebrate his birthday and leaves me to sun bath as he spoon feeds his candidates how to write a well structured email. Grrrrr I guess you could just talk to him about it, I feel if I don't say anything he will carry on working for hours but at time I do mention "This is my time" he does pay me attention. Hope it goes well for you x

Hi Hiccup, I had the exact same dilemma as you, i was thinking about what to do for my husband as it was his first birthday since our marriage... I ended up making fondants for him and he loved it...over the weekend i'm planning to set him up a nice bubble bath with aroma oils and candles, I may even make desert for him again too because he loved it... I guess it depends on the guy, but I know most will enjoy it but never make the effort to do it themselves.... Hope your night goes well xxx

Hi Annedxb, I didn't mention anything about my friend not wanting to make a quick buck, I only copied the message that he had left on his Fb wall which was as follows: "Russell Peters tickets (Category P2) on the 19th March at Dubai Trade Centre, going for AED 950" Maybe you read it incorrectly initially, unfortunately I can not find the original thread to confirm this. I do apologise for any confusion as it was not my intention, I was only trying to help you guys out as well as a friend. x

Hi Fully mine, I'm thinking of doing the exact same as you. I'm due on the end of July too but wish to go back to London to deliver. British airways allow you to fly as long as your not past 36 weeks. I'm looking to fly during mid May, mine will be a 7 hour flight. The airline will expect a letter from your Dr confirming that your safe to travel, I think this letter can be no longer than a week old. You will definitely need to confirm with your Dr and call the airline to confirm verbally too. The good thing is, I think every airline has a trained midwife :) Good Luck x

Hey, I've had the exact same issues with Viber, it has been totally blocked off. I think they are doing the same with Skype, every time I log on, I can hear the other person but they can't hear me at all. At first I thought it was the mic on my laptop but then I tried to talk to them on Gtlk and it works perfectly well.

Shjbelle - I trained as a beauty therapist and i've had treatments for the past 2-3 years non stop, my husband has been there for me during that time and I have done countless number of treatments on him too. I did think of that originally as it would be nice to get some different treatments but my husband would only have a massage, which he gets every week from me. nobody-in-particular - Lol, I'm 4 months pregnant and as both my husband and I were warned my libido would be sky high during this time and it is, so much that even my husband can't handle me, its crazy.

Be careful with hair extensions as they can tend to pull on your hair and cause your hair to thin out a lot. (Over an extended period of time) To prevent this from happening I use clip ons, I put them in when I'm going out and take them of at home. Hair extensions that are stitched or waxed in tend to pull on your natural hair and can cause long term damage. Defo do your research hun :)

Omg, your right, i didn't see that. Thankfully I haven't used it a lot as my headache was gone by the 2nd day. I ordered a few more from my mum as she's coming to visit me next week. Guess I won't be needing them. I was just like you, I didn't want to take any tablets at all and I haven't so far. Water and sleep does nothing for me because my headaches just come straight back. Tiger balm did help but i won't be using that again. Please inform me what your Dr says. Thanks

Yoga sounds good...where can I get more information about this? I'll be travelling back to London in May to give birth in July. Unfortunately I don't have medical insurance so its cost us about 600 AED each visit and then the birth will be different altogether. We're fine financially but i'd rather save the money for when my baby is actually born.

Hey Plumie, Thanks, Im only 14 weeks yet so no kicks for me, My due date is July 27th I have signed on to a website, Baby Centre, I recommend it to everyone....I get weekly updates and advice, I signed on when i wasn't too sure how far along i was so i've got updates for week 16. I've copied pasted a section that was emailed to me below. "Your baby's about the size of an avocado by now. In the next three weeks, he'll go through a tremendous growth spurt. He'll double his weight and increase his length. In the meantime, he'll be playing with his umbilical cord and practising breathing. You're going through a bit of a growth spurt yourself. Your uterus has expanded so much that the ligaments in your belly are stretching to make room for it. If you feel any twinges of pain now, that's why".....it then gives you the optin to sign on and read more about the week Food is a major issue, I can't cook meat or tomatoes at all and when I do, the throwing up begins. I can only eat meat if its ordered (As i can't see it being cooked) and I hate that as i'm worried i'm only going to put on the weight :( Overall I don't think i'm doing too bad, my only concern is my lack of exercise. As I found out i was pregnant as soon as i moved here I never got a chance to look for work or get to know people and now i'm a housewife and only leave my apartment with my husband during the weekend. I'm too scared to go out alone as i don't know the place well and I get dizzy quiet often. I do as much as I can on the Wii.

Hi Ladies, I'm very new to this...still getting the hang of it. I moved to Dubai in November after my husband and I got married in October. We found out we were pregnant more or less straight away. Although we are both very excited it is very stressful as i am totally alone, new to the country and this is my first pregnancy. Thankfully my scans have been successful and the baby seems to be doing fine, it was a wonderful experience. We go to the American Hospital, does anyone else go there? Luckily I don't suffer morning sickness at all however my sense of smell has gone totally wild, its distracting me from eating properly which tends to put me in mood swings. My poor husband has to deal with it, but he handles it well. I'm sorry to hear some of you are unwell, hope you all get well soon. I'm suffering from really bad headaches which sometimes prevent me from getting out of bed all together :( I sometimes feel like i can feel kicks but i know the baby is too small for me to feel it, Dr confirmed it is only 8cm. what i'm feeling is my uterus growing, disturbs me so much at night....does anyone else get this feeling?

Your explanation of the reason "why we have headaches" is so much better than the Drs :D I will definitely try tiger balm. You've been great, thanks a lot :)
