Hi T85, I personally would highly recommend Dr Fakihs clinic and would not recommend Dr Pankaj at Conceive. I did two rounds with Pankaj and one with Fakih and now currently preggers with twins through Dr Fakih. I have posted quite a bit on this forum about it, feel free to contact me if you would like further info. MB xxx edited by Mummabear on 31/01/2013

Hi ladies, I am selling my Ameda Lacataline Dual Electric Breast Pump. I purchased this 4th August for 800dhs. I used it a few times but my supply is very low so I started my daughter on formula and packed this away. It's barely been used, and comes with the original packaging and accessories. I am selling for 450dhs. Hi Sours, I am interested, I am expecting twins, did you buy for twins or a singleton, would you recommend it for twins? MB x

Great article Felix, good to see that the clinic is getting some recognition to their hard work and high standards! I dont know about other clinics, all we have experience with is Conceive and there was no comparison, so many more tests at Fakihs, and so much more attention to detail. My egg retrieval at Conceive was so bad both times I was fully awake, in agony, on the second time we had to call an ambulance the next day I was in so much pain, with Dr Amal at Fakihs I felt nothing and was asleep and also got double the amount of eggs. I suppose its everyone to their own really and each person has their own opinion, we personally went on success rates, up to date methods, and the standard of equiptment in the clinic, we were'nt really bothered about the personality of the Doctor, as long as he can get you pregnant we thought thats all that matters right. Having said that we have had no issues with the personality of Dr Fakih and found all the staff to be exceptional. An excellent clinic, since I have got pregnant there, I have bumped into three other couples that have been successfull with him - that must be saying something :) MB xx 26 weeks with twin boys xx

Hi, I did IVF with Fakih clinic, and now 21 weeks pregnant with twins, Dr Amal did the egg retrieval and transfer and was amazing. I saw dr Fakih twice the first consult then he did the scan before the egg retrieval. I know he was in charge of the meds protocal from behind the scenes as Madonna the nurse used to go to him for the next steps in my medication from the blood tests. Dr Amal we had no complaints with, she extracted 15 eggs and I felt nothing as was asleep, and felt no pain the next day (I did ivf twice in another clinic here previously and was in so much pain the day after retrieval we had to call an ambulance, plus felt everything during extraction, it was horrendous!) so this was very important for me! For the transfer she took her time and was very strategic where she placed the embryos ( I have a heart shaped uterus and a previous septum removal) so this was vital in my case! Both embryos she transfered stuck. Afterwards too she sat with me for about 30 mins giving me advise on what to eat and do etc. Even when I went in the other day to say good bye as we are now transferring to City Hospital she was there and giving me advise on twins etc. I have no fault on her, she was fabulous x Good luck! Hi Hilsbils, yep we did IVF with Dr Fakih clinic:) Yeh everyone is different, my husband used to say to me that i had a iron stomach, i love really spicy food and normally could stomach and eat anything and never got sick when others did with food! But the minute that pregnancy hit that drastically changed, I have different friends, some that had nothing and others that also had horrendous morning sickness, so really depends on the person. I had my first scan at 5 weeks when they told me how many sacks they could see, then the folllowing week I saw the heartbeats. So you should know soon enough if its one or two or maybe three! Another thing, just FYI, if you want to get an appoinment with Dr Elsa at City Hospital then it would be good to ring now, she has a really long waiting list, we just had our first apt with her last week and literally rang when I found out I was preggers to get on the waiting list. Feel free to private message me with anything - [email protected] So happy for you, great to hear positive IVF stories x :)

Hi Hilsbils, just saw this thread and that you are pregnant!! A massive congratulations to you :) I am now 20 weeks with twins, I remember I started feeling really nauseous from the very beginning and couldnt stomach stuff, literally at 4 weeks preggers. This is because the HCG levels are high, so if they are high then it could be double trouble for you :) and if they transferred three there is a good chance that two have stuck, thats one of the plus sides of IVF. Wishing you all the best and a happy, healthy pregnancy. MB xxxx

Hi Nicky, I never went but looked into it, they qouted me a while back last year 38K for one cycle of IVF, which we found too much for us. They might have lowered there prices now though. MB xxx

Hi Tia, I just bought from the chemist in capsule form, Im sorry I dont know the specific reason I was told not to use them, I think though it acts like eostrogen so was best to be avoided with all the ivf drugs. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/991.html MB xxx

Hi Anna, I agree with Felix, I just did IVF at Dr Fakihs clinic and I am now 10 weeks pregnant with twins, I had two failed cycles with Conceive in Sharjah before that. I would recommed anyone to go to Dr Fakih's clinic, both me and my husband agree that they are definitely the most modern up to date clinic from what I experienced here in Dubai. best of luck xxxx

Hi Gud83, dr fakih told me to take the larginine and the coq10 and the pregnacare was standard because it's for women trying to conceive and who have as is a general multivitamin and has folic acid in, the selenium and royal jelly were suggested to me by dr Ou, the lady that does acupuncture, I checked then with the nurse about them at de Fakihs and she said it was fine to continue and I stopped just before egg collection, except for pregnacare that I am still taking now. There are lots of things on the Internet to take, I also went as bought flaxseed oil but dr told me not too take this, so best what you are considering to take to check with the dr. I checked and were told all were fine. Xxxx

Birchy, try again when you feel ready, I rushed my first two in the same year along with two operations as I wanted a baby now, now, now!! so for my third I took 6 months to relax, and get my body and mind fully recuperated. We also changed clinic and I made sure to take the following vitamins months in advance for my egg quality. Daily Pregnacare 1 tab Coq10 - 400mg Selenium (daily dose cant remember) L Arginine - 1000mg three times daily Royal Jelly -1500mg We also tried to eat organic foods, and I ate loads of protein stuff. My husband also took a sperm vitamin from boots and COQ 10. I also took more time off work after the transfer and made sure to watch really funny happy things that week. I watched the movie the secret on the day of transfer too and this really pumped me up with the positive energy. In the 6 month break we also bought a little puppy, I also think he helped a lot as took my mind off all the negative thoughts and despair I have brought on with the two failed cycles, and made me feel like a mummy which is what I desperately wanted. Its not wrong to feel confused I did too and its totally natural, its just knowing what helps you pull through it, so you are ready for the next cycle. I found that I put a lot of weight on during the cycles so I got back into running as made me feel really good, and when I ran I would have me time to focus on the next ivf positively. I know its hard now, but you will get there, once you believe that it will happen. Hope you feel better soon. Sending you lots of baby dust xxxxx

Hi Birchy, I am so sorry to hear your news. Please try to stay positive, I know it is hard, I had two failed IVFs before I got my BFP on the third attempt, put this cycle behind you and concentrate on the next cycle, it will work, sometimes it just needs more than one attempt. Are you on lots of the vitamins and supplements? Sending you lots of hugs xxxx

Hi Hilsbils, Did you ask him to do the blood test for the insulin before you start, we did not hand over the full 28K upfront, it was definitely half first but I cannot remember exactly when that was, I think the beginning of the cycle. They do a range of blood tests on the 2nd day of cycle including FSH level (this has to be done on day 2 of cycle to get the correct results), progesterone, eostrogen and this determines the protocal that they put you on, we did it in the beginning of our IVF cycle on day 2 because we wanted to start straight away, but I am sure that you can do the tests including the insulin one, then start on the following cycle, you just pay for the tests independently and it is not included in the package. Did you also suggest that you wanted the natural IVF too, as I know they do that there? I would suggest that you go and meet with all three and gauge which one you think will support your needs. Maybe pop Dr Fakih an email too with your enquiries to save you going back in. Hope this helps :) MB xxx edited by Mummabear on 06/06/2012 edited by Mummabear on 06/06/2012

Ive had two failed cycles with Concieve in Sharjah and now changed to Dr Fakih and I am pregnant with twins, in my personal opinion Dr Fakihs clinic are way more ahead than Conceive. A lot of people don't like Dr Fakih and I hear them slagging him off a lot, (I personally had no problem with him and neither did my DH), there is a reason why he has such high success rates, at the end of the day if he can get you pregnant then thats all that matters doesnt it? His clinic is by far the most up to date, modern with the best equipment and procedures, these things are very important in IVF and think made a big difference for us. We initially went with Conceive because of the good comments Dr Pankaj, sadly he couldnt get me pregnant on the two cycles and wasnt even going to change anything for the third cycle or do any tests so we changed. From my personal experience we felt there was absolutely no comparison on the two clinics. I highly recommend Dr Fakih and his staff, I am still going there now for all my scans and have no fault with them. Fandrew, when ever I had a query I emailed Henriette and she would check with Dr Amal or Dr Fakih and get back to me, I found them to be very responsive and I was emailing them all the time about random stuff. [email protected] Best of luck MB xxx

Hi, I have done IVF three times in the UAE, twice at Conceive in Sharjah which were negative, and now at Dr Fakihs clinic and now I am pregnant with twins through him, everyone is different and has different opinions on the doctors here, so its best to go and see them all and make the decision, we went with Conceive because of all the good reports about them, unfortunately they didnt work for us and we had the same problems on both cycles, when we went to do our third IVF with them the Dr wasnt even going to change anything from the previous cycles or do any tests as to why it didnt work. So we changed to Dr Fakihs, and very glad now that we did. I read a lot of people saying that they dont like the bed side manner of Dr Fakih and he is out to make money etc, TBH, who isnt here, they all are, they are all running businesses not charities, at the end of the day, we wanted somewhere that is the most up to date in procedures, equipment and technology in the clinics, and this is what we found in Dr Fakihs clinic, he is very up to date with all the new IVF stuff. I personally didnt have any problems with the personality of Dr Fakih and thought himself and all of his team to be fabulous, at the end of the day if he and his team can do the job and get you pregnant then thats all that matters. So dont listen to others make your own decision and go on gut feeling, when I was at my lowest after the two failures, I was thinking that I would never get pregnant, my gut feeling was to go with Dr Fakih and I was right. Thats my opinion and hope it helps. MB xxx

Hi Gud83, I thought I had replied to you already and have just replied again on another thread, so have totally repeated myself again to you :) - its 28k and takes about a month for treatment, also they now put everyone on a month of meds before treatment too, best to email them. There is a lovely lady called Henriette who will reply to you very quickly with your queries. [email protected] MB xx

Hi Gud83, Its 28k package for IVF this include all scans and medications, they literally did everything for me including every single injection everyday. Its about a month in total with the protocal then the transfers and the two week wait. I think I may have communicated with you on another thread so apologies if repeating myself. I am now pregnant with twins from Dr Fakih clinic after two previous failed ivfs in Sharjah. I wish you the best of luck with Dr Fakih, there team are great, I am still going there now for the follow up scans, and found them to be very personal with exceptional attention to detail. Dr Amal actually did my retrieval and transfer and was absolutely fantastic and Dr Fakih controlled my protocal tweeking it as I went along to produce the best outcome, between all of them I think this contributed to our success. I wish you all the best luck. MB xxxx

Hi M King, I just did a round of IVF with Dr Fakih and am 8 weeks pregnant with twins, I cannot speak highly enough of the clinic and the team they are fantastic and the cycle was perfect from the beginning, I also had two previous failed cycles with Dr Pankaj in Sharjah at Conceive. After experiencing both clinics and in my personal opinion I found Dr Fakihs clinic to be infinitely better from start right up to now, the best decision that we did was changing clinics and I am so happy we chose Dr Fakih's. Also he does freeze embryos as we have one blast on ice too. And I am also still going there for my follow up scans now. Wishing you the best of luck and lots of baby dust xxx

Hi Gud83, I just did IVF with Dr Fakih and I am now 8 weeks pregnant with twins, his clinic is fabulous and all the staff there are amazing, I also did two rounds of IVF at Dr Pankaj clinic in Conceive in Sharjah before that were negative and terrible cycles. The best decision we made was changing clinics and the cycle with Dr F was perfect from the beginning. I have PCOS and blocked fallopion tubes. I can HIGHLY recommend Dr Fakih and all of his staff, I cannot praise them enough, I am still going to them now for my follow up scans too :) Best of luck and wishing you lots of baby dust xxxx edited by Mummabear on 29/05/2012 edited by Mummabear on 29/05/2012

Hi Wingclip, I was reading through you post and just wanted to give my opinion, Dr P is very nice man and know people recommend him, however I would recommend meeting will all the Doctors here before you make your decision. We had two failed IVFs with Dr P (both pretty disatrous cycles), and then changed to Dr Fakih, I am now currently pregnant with twins and the whole cycle was perfect and went like clockwork. Personally we felt that Dr Fakih/team and the whole service was a lot higher than that of Dr P, and felt that the Dr P does a very "one size fits all" protocal, where as Dr F really changed my protocal to suit me. I ended up with double the amount of eggs (15), 3 went to blast, transferred 2 and froze 1. You do pay more for Dr Fakih, but I can honestly say from my opinion that you get a lot more, we had so many more tests before and after transfer. Another thing, I was in agony on both egg retrievals with Dr P, but was asleep totally with Dr F. There are a lot of factors and I suppose everyone is different and different doctors suit different people. This is just my opinion from my personal experience. Wishing you lots of luck and baby dust :) Feel free to PM if you need x MB xx
