Thank you very much Mrs.B. Yes like you I am very content & I realise how blessed I am. I think I may have been a strong woman but 2 assaults at work within 2 weeks knocked that out of me. I keep thinking I will get strong again . But its sometime now since it happened & I continue to have PTSD. However God is good I know this for sure.

Hello Mrs.B. Yes I would love to meet you unfortunately Im in KSA now. I always find your posts interesting & honest & seem to come from one very strong lady. :) I don't have to agree with everything you say but I can still respect your opinions. I think an insight in to your world would be amazing. So very different than mine but in basic terms similar. Children family work home. I don't work now though after some trauma while working with adults with special needs mental illness & challenging behaviour. I hope you & your family had a very blessed Eid . God bless you & yours.

Thank you Kaydee. Hello Nomad, yes things went as well as could be expected. It was a lovely tribute to my brother who was a no frills say it as you see it man. The vicar knew him they seemingly went to the same pub. So that was nice that he could speak of him from personal experience. They played the first record my brother ever bought. Which happened to be " spirit in the sky" He played it over & over as he didn't have any others for a while :) . Just such a huge shock & so hard tto come to terms with. Thank you all again God bless

Hello Nomad. Im ok, in complete shock. So unexpected. He didn't let his wife tell us he was going to hospital as he didn't want us worrying. Wednesday will bring the reality home to me. He has been with his wife since she was 14 years old. Thank you for your prayers. How are you? Hows Canada ? Is certainly a place we intend to visit. God bless

I find some of the threads unfathomable. Not because its " which hair dryer is best" or" which washing powder gets your whites whiter". Its because some people know SO much about how to get your whites white .... That's not a critiscism. Its probably a mixture of how do you know? Why do you know? does it make your life better/happier to know? If so then its all good. I also find EW generally so interesting. Even when Im not particularly interested in a topic. I love to watch the interaction & sharing of information & opinions. Before & when I moved to the ME it was a life line for me. I met some exceptional ladies & some exceptionly interesting ladies. Happy reading Ladies.

We watched this bridge being built could see it from our back bedroom window. It was constructed to eleviate congestion coming on & off the Isle of Sheppy at peak times. Accidents like this are uncommon at home & thank God for that. I hope those who are injured recover fully. There but for the grace of God go I.

Sorry to hear the accommodation is bad. My LSh long suffering husband was put in to a hotel on arrival. It was basic but clean. He searched high & low for an apartment before I arrived & was disappointed with standards. Obviously anything on a compound is at a premium. I went to a hotel & satyed there for a month. In which time we found a great apartment on a very small compound. Its got a small pool & small gym. Which is all we need. Its all kept clean & is relatively modern. We do have power cuts but that could be a general Saudi problem . We don't have kids with us all grown up. So that makes the transition easier( or does it ?) Ask Your husband to gently nudge the company regarding your visa. We know mine could have been completed much sooner. So now its always a case of being proactive. Don't lose heart over the accommodation .I believe you can find better its a matter of having the time to do so. I realise with kids that isn't what you want to hear. But We have been blessed to get the apartment we have now. In the hotel I felt like I was a prisoner. Im still at home returning next week. My brother died unexpectedly on Saturday so going to London Wednesday for the funeral Thursday back to Riyadh. Pity you aren't coming to Riyadh you would have a willing & able baby sitter. ( Then there isn't much to do) Anywhere you go you can mostly take your kids & I like that aspect . God bless

Hello NEmom & Kaydee. Hope your both well? How are things going NEmom? Yes I came in on a visitor visa & obtained my Iqama while I was there. As I did my medical which was basic . I didn't have to leave the country to get my Iqama. We just do without those meat products that aren't available. Really you get used to it. We don't bother trying to find substitutes. Not sure if this is applicable in your situation but check your medication if you have any. When I moved to ME My medication which isn't really specialised was slightly different. It didn't cause a problem for me thankfully & I was aware of it beforehand. In Riyadh we cant seem to buy DVD's or CD's. AS Ive said Riyadh is very conservative so it may be different in Jeddah. Anything else on your mind? If I don't have the answer I can ask my walking Wikipedia. Or you could look at her site its Kiwi in Saudi. I found it when I was researching KSA.

Hello NEmom, I moved to Riyadh recently to join my husband. My Iqama took 3 months. It could have been done in two to three weeks but the company dragged their feet. I thought the Iqama would be a nightmare to obtain. But really it wasn't. I haven't come across anything I absolutely cant find. Apart from a decent potato masher. I did get one eventualy just isn't very good. Cant find mince / ground beef either. They have something that looks like it but it has herbs in it. So I will end up buying a mincer. If you like specific cheese ie Caerphilly & similar you may want to bring that. Himself has just returned to KSA with 16 blocks of cheese. I don't like the clothes very much in the ME . So tend to stock up when I come home. Riyadh is quite different from other places so Im sorry I cant be of more help. Don't panic. KSA is fine I know your not new to this . so you will cope quite easily I think. inshallah :) Good luck & God bless

While on the topic of Abayas are any more suitable for Saudi (Riyadh)? Seem to remember somewhere that coloured embroidery was frowned upon. Hello Wuffles its me Nobby :) Im in Riyadh & the ladies have colourful embroidery & some have coloured panels in their abayas. I have to say they sound a lot cheaper there .

I wouldn't trust VS for fittings or support. They insisted I was a 32DD even though the bra was far far too big around the back (I take a 28 band). Of course they insisted it was fine - because they don't stock anything smaller than a 32 and they wanted me to buy something. I've had the same thing all over Dubai. Often they insist that this size is fine for tiny slim but busty locals and imply I'm just being difficult. Unfortunately bigger bras vary so much in size it's so hard to know what size to buy if you don't try it on. I'm a supposedly a 28F but I've got 28F, 28FF, 30DD, 30E, 30F, and even a 32F which is two cups sizes and band sizes too big but it came up so small (bikini from Miss MandalFigleaves is good because the reviews usually mention how the particular model fits which makes buying online a lot more successful. M and S also carries bigger cup sizes, I find their stuff comes up quite large though Measuring tape method doesn't work for bra sizes because a) the guide for underbands (measure your size and add 4" if even 5" if odd) is based on 1950s sizes, which, like the dress sizes, are WAY smaller than modern sizes b) the guide for cup doesn't work for anything over a D because increase in volume doesn't directly correlate to difference in measurement For finding the band, I suggest you measure under the bust and if odd, add 1" or 3" depending on how tight you like to wear the band. If even, add 2". So I measure generally 26.5-27", and I usually wear a 28, sometimes a 30. The problem if you go tight is that you get support but also the dreaded fat splurge. Your always so helpful & knowledgeable . Thank you . Go raibh maith agat.

I would have loved a little boy to join my two gorgeous daughters. BUT had to make a decision on the financial implication this would have, especially in the future. Also what if I'd had another girl, would I have kept on trying. I do know some women who have ended up with more children then they planned to have doing this. It's ok to think, yes we can afford to bring up 3 or more children, but, and sorry to have to say this. What would happen if the money suddenly decreased.. I still sometimes wonder if things would have been different if we'd had another baby, but also remember the great times my girls had, which may not have been possible with more children. It's not just a case of how you feel now, you need to look to the future. Really you are entitled to your opinion . But Im one of a family of 7 children who were brought up with extremely good manners & social conscience. By parents who worked hard & loved us the very best way they knew how. I think you generalise way to much . I know of some people whose income kept increasing with each child they had. Basically God is the provider for each human being. Sure you need to look to the future and all, but having just one more child shouldn't be too difficult in many cases. You can cut your expenses, live a more economical life rather than spending more on luxury items, and save more for the future. I'm not saying one should have 6 children. That many may even be too difficult for the mother to raise properly she'll end up becoming negligent on some matter. I've seen people with too many misbehaved children and it makes me mad. If you can't raise them well, then don't have so many. Really a few children with proper manners are better than many children with bad manners.

"children are just adorable"? You obviously don't have any teenagers! Reminds me of a wedding I was at and the father of the bride was doing his speech. He was speaking fondly of his DD and said that "she was such an adorable baby and could have eaten her but when she was 15, he wish to **** he had!!". :D Am holding my breath for my own DD who had her first IVF transplant this morning. edited by Neamhai on 04/07/2013 Hold on I will get this right in a minute :) Joyce how are you? Ok this did confuse me , as I assumed ( rightly or wrongly ) That the original Mrs.B wouldn't have new born babies. Now I realise its a different lady . So new Mrs. B I wish I was in Dubai so I could help, Im the grand mother of 7 wonderful children. Im sorry that your maid feels its ok to treat you like this. Especialy as you treated her with consideration. I don't have a maid & will never have one. I hope you can get the situation resolved without to much more upset or cost to you. How much is it to sponsor a maid now? I know its expensive !!!! God bless you & your precious children .

Irish temptress..... that evokes images !!!!!!!!!! Im English my grand parents children & grandchildren are Irish. So I guess Im a plastic Paddy. I feed the Robbins they are so tame they almost eat from my hand. ( they know they have it good) Rescue donkeys in the field near by & two horses. Cows & calves so nosey they want you to talk to them ( yes truly Irish) Forty shades of green as far as the eye can see. As you say I love this land but resent what has been done to it. No finger pointing here many people loved it when the Celtic tiger roared loudly . Now its whimpering in a corner no one will even call the vet to put it down !!!!! I have time with my Dad who lost my Mum after 60yrs together My grand daughter says I love you so much Nanny, every time I see her & my littlest grandson 2yrs old cries to come with me each time he sees me. Yes I too count my blessings. God bless LT

Hello Lt how on earth are you? :) Yes, Ireland that is the Republic of Ireland has Euro & before that we had Irish punts. At one time Irish punts were equal to English sterling. That change quite sometime ago though. If they mean Northern Ireland they should specify. No point saying Birmingham if they mean Barry In wales. Just saying . edited by Neamhai on 17/04/2013
