I think this maybe isnt Desert Rose from EW who wrote this letter as I was always under the impression DR didnt live in Dubai? Course it isnt desertrose(1958) on this forum...she'd never spout this stuff. But we do have a poster with another name...forget what it is, who I recall posting something in a very similar vein. Not saying it is the same woman, just that there is similarities. Glad to know that you didn't mistaken me for her LOL....u should know me better by now :-) Desert rose is probably either too privileged to work or has a terrible husband who asked her to choose between her career or her kids, or just wants to **** off all women or she's not even married and has no idea what she's talking about ( and that's my guess) As for me, I'd llllluv to do both. My mum is a working woman till now (been working for 40 years straight) and she has done a marvelous job raising us up. So I don't see why we can't do both...if we could

We can start a thread with a certain book to read and then in a month (we also decide on the date) we discuss it...how about that? The thing is where can we find a book that most of us haven't read yet? :-)

Thanks again! Wouldn't say otherwise [b'>[/b'>Argh, I hate it when other people, specially women, want you to be oh-so-happy about being a mother and never ever have a bad moment. And if you do, you are just pure evil, arent you? :/ One can't ALWAYS be happy, about anything, be it work, motherhood, relationships, or whatever! We have both good times and bad. And as snugs said, we should be nice to each other, and offer support and kindness, be it on 'the world wide webby' or to some one close to you. And if you dont have any kind words to offer, better keep them to yourself then :/

I moved 7 times in 10 times cause my husband wanted to develop his career I went through emotional and psychological roller coasters with my kids, changing schools, friends, lives I adapted 7 times for the sake of my family!! This is what my a** has been doing lately, alright?? Don't tell me I devalue any kind of women cause I am one!! Can't a woman think out loud in this world?????

@ safa: why can't we just have the best of both worlds? Memories of our careers or whatever job we choose and memories of our kids' childhoods?

That's the problem: you guide them. Guiding them took all your life that you forgot to guide yourself to what you want to achieve for yourself. well, it [i'>is[/i'> an achievement, but a grossly undervalued one... even we undervalue it. I feel very proud when people comment on my children, but as a parent, you only guide them - they are their own people, just as you are yourself... and just as others shouldn't define children by their parents, I really can't let myself be defined by my children (that makes sense in my head!). You were you before you had children and have continued to be - it's up to you to find ways of realising that. Being a SAHM is a job. Think of it that way.
