Hello, I am reviving my old thread as finally got an Orbit stroller (managed to get a 2d hand one) and Toddler car seat which I am very satisfied of after two months of use. So far i think its the safest option to use in taxi, takes 3 good minutes to install, especially with baby in it. To whom may be interested, I just saw an Orbit travel system advertised on Dubizzle so wanted to update my post and give my positive feedback about it. edited by Papaye on 01/03/2012

Hello I am replying late to this thread but just wanted to add my contribution to this post to thank Dr Delphine whom helped me during my still ongoing breastfeeding adventure. Her passion and competence combined with great interpersonal skills helped me when I needed reassurance and advices. I just learnt that she started to give a course about Breastfeeding for pregnant women at Symbiosis clinic as part of the newly launched antenatal classes (in French and English) . I believe this is a valuable ressource as this can make such a difference for us as breastfeeding mums.

You can negociate hard on dubizzle since there is plenty of options, specially Graco travel systems. You can find one for 200 to 300 only few months old. Also There are hauck brand (German I think) sold at carrefour which is affordable from what I remind.

Hello This is not within oncology field but you can try your luck here: http://edohms.dohms.gov.ae/ejob/User/index.aspx If you go for the public sector, better you go directly to meet the Director of Nursing on site cause I ve found thats the most efficient way. check bayt.com, dothealth.com ,Gulf News, Dubizzle... THere is an agency named bridgewaterinternational based in UK but for jobs in Dubai. Try to send them your CV as well. I have been contacted by an agency by posting an advertisement on dubizzle last year so maybe you could try as well this option... Good luck!

Hi Laurab85 In my opinion the Sit N Stroll is OK to use in taxi if you plan to go to a mall or any place with smooth flat ground. That is after you make sure that the rear facing installation is safe! It means that the seats of the taxi should not have any creases and to achieve a correct angle to install the seat properly, you need to use a small rolled towel under it. Otherwise you will notice once you check the installation that you can move the car seat side to side and forward backward more than 1 inch.Which is detailed in the user guide. It is not at all practical to use in the city with curbs all around or to the park, wheels are very small and no suspension at all.No sunshade unless you buy it extra for 120 aed . Your baby should be sitting in the car seat before you install it. It means you have to hold the baby s weight plus car seat weight while converting it from stroller to car seat. Doable though. But If you have backache this is not for you. There is also a problem when your baby fall asleep, the head tends to flip forward. Not to be used for long trip. I dont know if it happens with other car seats ( combi, orbit). I didnt use it forward facing so I cant tell if its better installation but the belt once fixed looks like to be at the level of my baby throat. Does not make sense....nor looks super safe.Maybe Ok once baby is older and belt is on arms level. I use it since short time and for me its just OK...not great. I dont have full peace of mind when using taxis with it, thats why im looking for better. Hope that helps, Papaye

Hello, Yes Dubaicat. I mean a car seat that can be used rear facing, and that can be used with a stroller on a daily basis. Most of travel system are outgrown once baby reaches weight limit ( 10 or 13kgs) or by height ( once baby s top of head reaches one inch from the top of the car seat). My baby outgrown my snugride 22 (part of my graco travel system) After that there is not so many options for car less people. Only Combi, Orbit, SIT N STROLL. Hence my post. Would also consider snugride 35 even though it will not last long. Sorry for the long answer but I wanted to clarify my post. Papaye

why not booking a pink taxi with female driver? just ask when you call RTA and remind it might take time to find one available as most are at the airport, but if you plan 30min to 1h ahead its doable. Personally i feel safer with women and they are more talkative :o)

My almost 6 months old has also eczema. We consulted Dr Loubser at infinity clinic whom advised: This is a Copy and paste from his "eczema guidelines": Major components of eczema : Breakdown of normal barriers itch dryness secondary infection General measures: Avoid changes in temperature - heat and sweating worsen the itch keep the fingernails short Avoid any food that might make the skin worse in 20 minutes of ingestion Try to keep textured materials off the skin Use non biological washing powder Moisturisation (assume a night bath time): Tepid water long soak (20min)- this is to to allow the water to get inside the skin and then to be retained by the applied cream. Use mild soap (white dove, glycerine bar, oilatum etc..avoid perfumes) At the end of the bath- ADD oil. Olive oil, fragrance free mineral oil. Take out of bath and Pat dry Apply the medicated cream (in case of infected eczema, your dr will prescribe appropriate cream) to all the red or rough areas Apply a moisturiser (lipobase,Oilatum, vaseline intensive care) In the morning Apply the medicated cream Apply a moisturiser Medications: Consult your paed or dermatologist but could be Cortisone if eczema is infected may have to use oral antibiotic if the itch is sever, use of antihistaminic in all cases better if you consult... Hope that helps Papaye

hi Excited2bexpat No you r not over reacting regarding what happened yesterday. In my opinion, security men like any stranger should not be allowed to enter your flat if your not there or without a reason that u agree with (maintenance by Idama for instance). Honestly its not because a man wears security uniform that i would trust him. Also you are right your maid has to better gatekeeper or have a better analyze of which appropriate decision to take in a situation like this. did she invite him to come in?or did he by himself? Report the "incident" to the office can prevent others to happen.I would do the same as a matter of principle but do not think too much of it after that. Just make sure you and your helper agree on basic principles of safety. You have to trust her 100% when you leave her alone at home or with your children. I also live in executive towers and rarely passed by mums in the evening. If you see a lady with apple and brown color push chair that s me!
