Judging by your typing, I'd say your English is excellent! I can't remember what it's called, but there is a group who meet and do a sort of language exchange. So basically you speak to native speakers to improve your skills. Which might be more beneficial to you than a formal class. There's a group who meet in AD, 2/3 times a week in different cafes and are represented by various nationalities, facebook.com/ADspeaks. Perhaps you could contact them to see if they know of a similar setup in Dubai

aah Polo... missed it ... i was thinking of ordering one online and collect it when i am there... Is it worth investing in a cooker with timer ? Or will the normal ones with 3 temp settings serve the purpose? newbie in this area as you can see ... I've never had one with a timer so not sure whether it'worth it. A lot of them now seem to only have heat settings high and low with some of them having a keep w arm function. The morphy richards with high, medium and low settings suited me very well and that's what I'll get again. The 6.5 litre is big and as there is only two of us, I had to freeze a lot, if you don't have a family, you might want to look at a smaller one

Polo .. thank you ...do you mind posting the link to this product ... i couldnt find this cooker online in their website I'm not surprised you couldn't find it, I gave you the wrong information!! Sorry It's the Morphy Richards one that I had, unfortunately, it's gone up in price and is now £34.96, I saw it in store a few weeks ago at £25, I should have bought it at that price when I had the chance. Although it is a large cooker, I was able to take it in my hand luggage.

I am thinking of getting a slow cooker since I couldnt find a good selection in Dubai. Lakeland had only a limited selection Any suggestions for shops to look in London /Edinburgh? Asda superstores have a kenwood 6.5litre slow cooker for £25, it has high, medium and low settings. If you are not near a superstore you could order it online.

I took a large box home with me last year, I paid for it as excess baggage. Uk customs asked what was in it, however, did not open it.

I have taken my stepson on a few occassions, he has tried gokarts, shooting, paintball and the wakeboarding. I think you need to book for most of the activities other tHan the wake boarding. I also disagree with having to pay an entrance fee, however, my discount can also be offset against whatever activity he is doing. In my opinion, it's an expensive day out, but ok as an occasional treat.

My washing machine broke after 18 months of use. The service people came out and said that it needed a part that would take 3/4 days to come from Sharjah. To cut a long story short, after 6 weeks of phone calls, they said that I needed 2 parts, one of which was coming from Turkey. I was not happy and asked to speak to a manager, he told me that one of the parts needed was a new motor, this had never been mentioned to me. He quoted 950AED for the repair, I told him not to bother as I could get a new machine for not much more and would have a years warranty. It's ridiculous that a motor should break down afetr 18 months, there's only two of us in the house so it's not as if it had been used every day

If you go to the bus station near to Al Wahda Mall, buses leave every 15 minutes or so, basically they leave once full.

Lettuce, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, white onions, salt, pepper, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar. Couldn't swallow the darn things without a handful of peanuts and some crumbled feta cheese. All things healthy taste so bland! Ugh! I will be a size 20 forever:( My DH had that combo yesterday after 10 days on the attack phase of the Dukan diet, he thought it was great after all the bland food he had been eating

I have just discovered Marian Keyes (very late) and I am in love with her books. They all tackle deep issues but in an easy sort of way. I like her more than Kinsella because the heroines are not as stupid. I also enjoy Marian Keyes books, I think my favourite is Rachels Holiday, I also enjoyed The Brightest Star in the Sky which was a bit different to her other books.

The Midwife's Confession - brilliant book, very Jodie Picoult-y if you like that kind of thing, can't remember the author off the top of my head. I read this book last year and thought it was brilliant, quite a twist at the end.

I went to one of their recruitment drives some time ago and it was too little pay for too much time and work. I didn't even bother taking any of the jobs offered. I agree, I started doing it, but have not done anything for a while, they expect a lot out of you for not a lot of money.

For the OP, perhaps you need to look at living in some of the " compound areas" where there is security and an laid down by laws eg Emaar areas. edited by spongemonkey on 03/11/2011 We lived in one of those areas and our neighbour was terrible. He started partying on weekends and it gradually ended up happening eveery night. Hubby used to go round and they would turn the music down for half an hour then back up again. Security would come round again they would turn it down for a while then up again. Police came several times asked hime to turn it down. One night the police were round four times. Anyway he ended up getting a promotion and moving overseas so it was all nice and quite until we moved out. In Scotland, the police will attend and ask that the music be turned down, if they get called back again, they have the power to remove the music system, that usually brings the party to an end,,

Given the past couple of winters they have had in Edinburgh, I would say pretty likely. I am going home for Christmas and am hoping to see some snow, it's great as long as you don't have to work!!! Will need to look out the winter woollies as 2 Christmases ago, my DH wore a hat in bed as he was so cold (he had just arrived back from Dubai). Edinburgh is magical at Christmas, I hope you enjoy it.

I certainly wouldn't waste my money going to Ferrari World again anyway. The time I went we stood for 1.5 hours in the queue for the Rosso ride and then it broke down. Only one other ride was working that day, but they didn't tell us that when we bought our tickets - complete waste of time and money. Grrrrrrrrrrr. My DH and stepson went and neither of the two big rides were working, however, they were given two free tickets to go at another time.

My blood pressure is rising just reading this!!From start to finish, the behaviour is unacceptable. I know children need to let off steam but not to the point where you cannot be comfortable in your own home. The corridors are not playgrounds and should not be treated as such.If they need to let off steam, they can be taken to an indoor play area. You have been more than patient.

I'm sorry I can't advise on places to stay, however, I'll be watching this thread with interest as I feel the need to visit again soon!!

I go to a hairdresser who works from her home and she has what I would describe as a portable sink which is on wheels. It is in her bathroom and you lean back into it as you would at the hairdresser, the water drains through a hose into the bath, problem solved!!

The sad thing is, it was so preventable, he could have put the dogs in a kennel. I would think that after what has happened and his suicide attempt, his days as a police officer will be numbered. It really is tragic
