I guess maybe I'm just too paranoid living here. If I was back home, I wouldn't think twice about having a glass of wine at night. But in Dubai, I worry, what if one of the kids gets sick or hurt, and needs to be taken to the doctor. If I have had one glass of wine, I can't drive. And with all the bad news with expats getting in trouble, makes me paranoid.

When your husband is traveling, will you have a drink? Have yourself a glass of wine or two, once the kids are in bed? I don't have anything when my husband is gone, am I being too paranoid or would you say being responsible?

About how much does it cost at Arabian Centre? Had the name pictures done at the Madinat, anyone found frames for those or had to get them framed? Another vote for the Arabian Center framers - we must have had nearly a dozen pieces done by them. Friendly, courteous, prompt, well-priced - and we've been happy with every job they've done.

We dry almost everything, except jeans and nice shirts which we hang inside. I never could understand why people hand their clean clothes and things outside, doesn't it just get dirty and full of sand from the outside air? I don't iron anything, husbands work clothes get taken in, and come back clean and ironed.

I don't mind the rain, just be careful on the roads. Had a scary drive home tonight in the rain. Emirates Road was flooded in a couple spots, which you couldn't see until you were already in it, causing people to slam on their brakes of course, or swerve to try to miss it. Many other side roads flooded. Was so relieved when I finally got home!

We received our little ones passport within a week, unfortunately they printed the wrong birth date! They issued us an emergency passport because we were traveling back to the states, and it was their mess up. It took them over 4 weeks to get us the original passport once we re-submitted the emergency passport. Which prolonged getting the residence visa! We went back to the states before getting the visa, which caused issues. I called immigration, they told me there wasn't anything you need to do for the baby to leave, which was untrue. We applied for the SS# back in the states. Good luck, its all a big pain, but the baby is worth it! oh geeze all I've done since I moved to Dubai is get things stamped/issued/notarized/yada yada yada...well thank you so much ladies, I'm glad I asked now and not later!! Once you submit everything that is required, how long does it take them to issue a proper passport? Do you need the get the social security card first?

My son was always underweight until his 3 year check-up, he was finally more average. (If that makes sense.) Anyway, as long as they eat and are healthy, thats all that really matters. My son is just a tall and skinny kid like his Dad.
