I'll be 40 in April. How I used to dread coming up to this milestone, but in the last year I truly am looking forward to it. I'm in a good place in my life, have a great family both here and back home and the love and support of a wonderful man - what more could I want?! 40 & Fabulous!!!!

Actually I applaud the UAE and this tactic. I think it's good business sense for them. As a Canadian, I'm not happy that my family will have to apply for visas to visit us, but when you look at the absolute disgraceful and shoddy treatment Canada has shown the UAE 1.Harper stringing along the Emiratis for the base here - which by the way they were using for free for many years- he knowing they would be out of Afghanistan this year so not bothering to respond to him - blew up in his face as our troops are there now for longer - 2013 and now have no base camp in easy access 2.the UAE foreign minister to Canada has been calling the Canadian foreign minister since October to try to recitify this situation and the guy hasn't even returned his calls). This should teach Canada a lesson and not cow-toe to European carriers who are only looking out for their own vested interest a.k.a non-direct flights to the UAE which would bump up their profits (BA, Air France, KLM). I have always used Emirates or Etihad when flying home and will continue to do so.

I don't know what school the previous poster was at but I do know that this does not apply to all schools here! Ie failing on purpose to impress? :\: On the contrary I have never met so many young people who are ambitious and focused as here and who go on to do great things. However that experience is limited to a couple of schools. I do know that it varies from school to school. There are families here who over indulge their children , I am not denying that - again some curriculum schools/backgrounds are worse than others. Those kids are the ones who are crawling back to Dubai to live off the bank od Mum and Dad and want to keep their "big fish in a small pond" status and can't cope with moving on and end up dossing about here doing nothing. As for the clothes and mascara, well I think some of you forget what it is like to be young and many of you are a darn sight younger than I am ! :D Go to Oz, USA or the UK and see how youngsters dress ! There are loads of tarts of all ages walking about in malls here! Well said. I totally agree with you.
