mrsb. Come on covering should not cause hair fall. You can do research on it. Its one of the side effects of Dubai water. Using bottled water would help. If you can do scalp massage with either castor, coconut or olive or almond oil it really works well. Iron deficiency can be one of the reasons also and hormones too. Figure out the root cause and treat it. You will have healthier hair in a short time :-) What happens in the UK then as we rarely get the sun ( Except this year) everyones hair should be falling out ;-) lolz...may be yea. Its very odd reason I have heard of hair fall

What about Turkey - you could head to Istanbul (FlyDubai or pegasus for cheap flights)for a week, there's plenty to see including some out of the way things you'd have time for like Princes Island. Then head to a beach resort for a week for relaxation and plenty of Turkish baths and good food :) Or Nepal - you can fly to Kathmandu with FlyDubai, there's cheap golfing, spas, yoga retreats and you can do some beautiful trekking too. Fly Dubai also fly to Romania - cheap way to do a 'European' vacation, gorgeous scenery, mountains, lakes, beaches, skiing. HTH, have a great vacation where ever you decide to go! emmm...Nepal is a better choice because of trekking. We have been thinking of Indonesia. Will update you all where we are going :D

What is your budget? me and hubby recently went to The Maldives and paid around 4000dhs each for flights and all inclusive. edited by salsB on 04/08/2013 We have been to Maldives before and we are not a Honeymoon creature. We are more of explorers and adventurers. Where we could walk, roam around and explore beauty of nature. Surfing etc.

Do they offer keratin treatments? I got a quote at Pastels in JBR for 3000 dirhams. My hair is long, thick, frizzy curly, you name it I got it. I just can't afford that. I'm not sure if I want to rebond my hair. Does it damage the hair? Is it permanent? How often do you go for retouching? Hi Lulee I think they are doing Hair Keratin also. If you would like to check pinkladydeals.com or you can call and confirm. When I had my services done they were doing all hair treatments like hair botox, keratin rebonding & curls also. You can call and check. About harm to hair, I had rebonding couple of years back ( and also my friends) and didn't face any problem. As far as your hair is healthy there should be no issue. Straightening stays in your hair upto a year.Root touch up is done once your new hair growth comes, normally after 6-7 months. Good luck finding the right place and let us know where Would you go :D edited by rose717 on 04/08/2013

And being covered I don't get that amount that I need that can't also substituted for by supplements. Doesn't mean it counts for all women and doesn't mean there are no other causes, but with no exposure at all to sun and especially when the hijab is tight, hair fall does increase. I have seen older women that have covered for years, and their hair was very thin at the front. Thanks for the info :D I never thought of someone wearing hijab most of the times but yeah you are right.

Its not OK for me if my husband would be meeting some female friends without me (or vice versa). and that too regularly. For me thumb rule is if I am not comfortable with him meeting someone of opposite gender he should respect my feelings and should stop seeing her. If not than definitely there is something "fishy" No female friend "Should" be important than "Wife" .End of story

I really dont know why all ladies dont get "keratin treatments" are only for treatment purpose and not for straightening until there is Formaldehyde in it. Hair Botox, Brazilian Blow out etc all are Keratin treatments. If you wanna go for straight hair get rebounding or hair relaxing done. Am sorry to hear your experience but it only happens if you dont do research before going to salon.

Thanks fatexpatdxb. How do I go about getting an investor visa? The reason we were looking at freezones is because initial cost for setting up was low, are investor visas expensive and do you need a local sponsor? I suppose the only way to get around the restriction on services outside the freezone is for people to pay by cheque but then how many people have chequebooks these days ? You dont need a local sponsor in free zone. You are your own sponsor and can get investor visa easily. Investor visa isnt expensive it only needs a lump sum amount as a deposit and that is Refundable after you cancel your visa. Visa cost is relatively lesser than an employees visa if you consider deposit as a refundable cost. I have 2 companies , both are not in free zones and am very happy about it because Free zone including JLT etc are very expensive to start business with low budget. Secondly, I practically dont depends on my local sponsor for anything. I got NOC and authority to do almost everything. His dependability is non existing. Again, it depends what kind of business you are looking to start.

DH has just got the "pink slip" entry permit for his new residency visa after our old visas were cancelled when he changed jobs. My question is, does just doing a border run to Oman satisfy the "leaving the country and re-entry" requirement, or does he actually have to fly out? Coincidentally we've always been flying somewhere when this has happened in the past, so not entirely sure! Can anyone tell me definitively please? Thanks :) For EU nationals And US nationals they can change visa status like this. Some nationalities they are not accepting. You can confirm that by calling Oman embassy.

Thanks everyone. So is it possible to have two labour cards at the same time? Obviously one would be for my full time job and the other would be for my business which would be part time so long as I get an NOC from my employer? It does state in my contract that I need express permission from my employer before undertaking any work outside my current employment I am not sure which Free Zone you are dealing with. I might help if you confirm FZA?

OP, can you not write your own review on that site, explaining what you saw? I'm sure the poor staff would appreciate the backup. I once had a customer get very abusive with me through no fault of my own, he made up lies to the purser and a really nice lady gave us her email address and said she was willing to be a witness if anything came of it, since she knew what really happened and heard and saw everything. It really made my day that someone would go out of their way to defend me against someone with no conscience! I would've done that only if that customer left a clue of who she is and when she visited. All i read is she had written they are "cheat", "rude" and going there is waste of time. And i know its only her because thats the only addition of review since i have visited them. This is only one case I am sharing. I see everyday, blue collar workers are treated in such a bad way. Be it waiters, Grocery delivery guy etc. That lady was shivering badly while yelling so i could relate she has some medical issue. But whatever it is if someone is not "human" any more, they should not be set free to live in society.

Hi ladies, Our maid will be sadly leaving us at the end of her contract. She will have been with us for just one year. What should we expect to pay her? Should we pay her flight home? What kind of holidays is she entitled to? She has taken some but nothing like the 24 days that I get through work. Advice would be welcome :) edited by Norts on 01/07/2013 It depends on the contract you did with her. Normally, employer is entitled to pay for ticket "to & from" home country. Annual leaves are usually about a month per year or in some cases one month per 2 year ( depends on your contract). Also you should pay end of service benefits. I have no clues how much it should be for maids.

Hi, My friend and I are starting a new business in Dubai and have been in touch with a start up company to operate in a freezone for our first year to test the water. They have offered us a good price for company license but without labour cards. I am currently employed and plan to run the business part time for the first time to reduce risks. I therefore already have a labour card. Would I need to change the labour card or can I operate a business using the existing card? Also my friend is not working and would need a labour card. How easy is it to get a card once the business is established? Thanks. Hi, You need to get NOC from your current employer for starting a business. For your friend she can get partner or investor visa and she wont need labor card with that. Labor card is required ONLY if you get employment visa. Once your business is established you can also go for your own partner/investor visa. OR to save cost you can chose manager visa also. Getting labor card is not a big deal. Good luck with your business :)

In the stone ages, I studied business eyhics here, a great subjec as it is an easy pass. Apparently it was not an easy pass for all. Some were genuinely puzzled by foundation concepts. Manners are not a birth right and sadly you will probably find that this was how she was treated since birth or how she is treated in married life. Customer service are there or this purpose, they probably didnt care, she became the laugh of the day. Maybe Naomi Campbell is in town? I believe customer services doesnt work in some situations. A salon filled with cliens and all staff busy and suddenly after redeeming all the services a customer comes to complain and yell....""Sighs" No matter what. yelling, abusing, cursing and hitting others cant be justified. A person is a person no matter a laborer or a CEO. Every person needs to be treated with respect. Specially in such cases where you are availing 80% discount on services.

I got rebonding from Pretty Lady in Satwa for about 800dhs, but this was 2 years back. My hair is quite long. Was very good, didnt damage my hair at all and lasted till it grew out. On Pink Lady Deals I saw they have Schwarzkopf straightening, I tried their home straightening aout 6 years back and it really damaging, just FYI edited by sourskittleashnut on 30/06/2013 sourskittleashnut @ are you sure tha was schwarzkopf's fault? that could be hair dresser doing it? :D Its a German products and when i googled it almost everywhere I found positive reviews including my friends who got it done last week from same place with same product. Result is great and price was cheap. I am also considering to do that but since I have done Keratin recently just waiting my hair to grow a little more. Most of the times the problem is not the product its the application. If you mean you used "Glat" by schwarzkopf , that's a hair relaxer with high volume of straightening ingredient and that's damaging if instructions are not followed properly. I would at least go to a professional hair dresser who gives you one year money back guarantee :D edited by rose717 on 30/06/2013

To each his own but if this is your first time be very careful. I rebonded my hair years ago and did it a few times and its really never been the same. I've read that it's formaldehyde....not something good for your hair, skin or,lungs when you breath it in.. I've learned to embrace the curls or use a flat iron and invest in the right products to prevent major damage. I've done a lot of research on this topic and I find rebonding more safe than keratin. Formaldehyde is found in keratin products which makes hair straight. I heard that DHA has banned "keratin straightening" in UAE still many salons are doing that. I wonder how come they play with health of customers and workers. edited by rose717 on 30/06/2013

My friend has topaz for her own visa any ideas of total cost many thanks it depends on visa type. isit spouse visa or company visa? Is it free zone company or main land or tarkhees? If its not a Free zone company the cost would be around 4000 AED including medical (normal) & Emirates ID. But excluding Refundable deposit that is 3000 AED. Normally companies charge only for cost and not the deposit. If its Freezone its around 7k including all. edited by rose717 on 19/06/2013

my go-to is http://azurspa.com/. they do keratin at the salon, never had that done at home though, but its worth asking them! I've had highlights and cut done at home though. and i've had waxing, nails, and massage as well! :) love the girls. (seriously, i don't work there, but i should get some compensation for referring them!) Wow...they are super expensive. 1200 AED for Keratin, 250 AED for full body wax (bikini not included) and hair cut 250 AED. No way I am going for it. I might look for some Indian beautician who does it all well and cheap :D

Hi MishC You can check your status on website of LAbour Ministry http://www.mol.gov.ae/english/Services/ServiceIndex.aspx Go to "Print Labour card/ Labour Contract" Enter your info and check. If you see any contract or labour card under your name than you were legal and can go ahead but if you see nothing than save your self from trouble. There is fine of 50k AED for Employee and Employer both to work illegally.

I'm going to be doing an open interview session to find staff for a new shop. I did some this morning and held them at a terrible terrible coffee shop that I had chosen only because I thought it would be well located for most people but it was not only terrible but also not so well located! I figure if I can a Tim Hortons or a Starbucks or whatever that's right by a metro stop, that's probably best for the candidates but can't for the life of me remember what's where!! Anyone?? I'm thinking maybe down the Trade Centre end of Sheikh Zayed. Anyone know what decent cafe is right by a metro stop in that area? Many thanks. I remember there is a coffee shop opened inside Tecom metro station. (DIC metro station). Its a small coffee shop but it should serve the purpose. Good luck to find right staff :D
