We go to city hospital for all sorts of treatments but they don't have a dental/ortho dept there. Plz suggest any good dental surgeon for root canal. Are insurance coverage is for mediclinic and prime group of hospitals Dr Yasmin at Dr Michaels is excellent but they dont have direct billing, but sure she would be happy to help you with a report to get it pre approved. I had mine reimbursed by daman...

Never done it but would love to have the guts to do it... Do you go by yourself? Is it awkward?? Nope, I used to go all the time when I was on my own here. You have your jumbo cola and caramel popcorn to keep you company, what else do you need. It's dark and no one even will notice you anyway.

It is, yeah he was the Irish one, think he lived there before, i know he studied in Bournemouth...will let you know what his replacement is like, sounds older and experienced. I get nervous seeing some new but I know the clinic has such a good reputation I would rather stick with them

Hi ladies, Can anyone give me some advice...I've previously been on Roaccutane medication for acne approx. 3 years ago (in England) and over the last 4 months my acne has gradually come back and this time it feels worse than before. Can anyone recommend a dermatologist here in Dubai? Does anyone know if they are likely to re-prescribe me this medication if i don't have my medical notes here with me? I'm not sure if i can buy this medication over the counter due to the nature of it but everything works differently here. I've tried every single lotion and potion and all anti-biotic medication over the years and Roaccutane is the only thing that has worked for me...I'm currently drinking Aloe Vera juice as this is the only thing I haven't tried before. So far i'm not seeing any results. Dr Christina at Motor city, cooper clinic is v good. she is Swedish, i really like her

This makes me so angry. A bunch of campers abandoned their dog on Jebel Ali Beach over the weekend. How can you take the dog there, then the next morning just pack up and leave the animal behind? Heartless, vile, disgusting excuses for people. Dubai is so bad for this, make me angry too...poor little thing.

Many thanks all, the dentist I go to has asked for 14500 and he said it is a 2 months procedure, I will visit Dr Steen next week, can anyone advise on how long does it take to complete the whole procedure and how many months you wait between the stages? Dr Steen placed my implant direct after having the extraction into the socket.. I had to wait 6mnths for the next stage...i did think it was 3mnths but he told me that 3mnths for lower because the lower jaw heals faster than upper jaw, so i guess thats why i had to wait that long...but had a temporary crown while i waiting for the final crown.

I need a tooth implant and was wondering if you guys know of a good dentist, how long does the whole procedure take and how much does it cost in Dubai, also does the insurance usually cover it or not? PS: dental is covered in my insurance Many Thanks I will second that one Dr Steen, he is excellent, old but experienced. I paid around 13000dhs for the implant and the implant crown, implant crown was done by Dr Chris JOhansson there too, I have seen him for many years...both very good. No insurance will cover it, I called so many before I had the tooth taken out and not even Bupa cover it. Good luck x

As a person who attended parties, I also swore I would never allow my own children to attend parties. Honestly, at that age, it is not halos, it is horns. And girls, even good girls, have horns. That is the age when you want to enjoy yourself and you body and all of the nifty new feelings it has. Id say no. No parents. No way. No how. As a nice person, Id have plans for the night, plans she was a part of, so taking her somewhere - so she can save face - that will be a different approach to how the mothers would do it though. edited by Londiamond on 21/10/2014 Thanks, good suggestions....

dear Rosie, you say your daughter doesnt have any friends; just this boy? What doesnt she have any friends? May be she will feel easily led if she is reliant on party "friends" and will be vulnerable. For my part I cant understand why any mother would send her daughter to such a dubious function. Dont mothers want to protect their daughters? Why send them to a place of no safety just because you feel sorry for them? As for Izzy's comment, she is realistic, for what would a mother in that situation expect? Harsh but true. She is saying, okay send her, but if you are worried about her safety at least protect her from pregnancy and she will be fine. This is the reality: girls and boys who mix in that kind of scenario may drink alcohol and end up having ***. Since you are considering sending her because you feel sorry for her, then at least protect her from getting pregnant, since you are considering not protecting her in other dimensions (her vulnerability without friends, may be lack of confidence, breaking the law by drinking alcohol etc). I know I also sound Izzy-like and harsh, but really, dont mothers feel the serious responsibility of protecting their daughters from things like dating and alcohol and parties and unsavoury characters who hang around such places? Letting her go is not to me letting her learn responsibility, to me letting her go is the mother letting go of her responsibiity to protect her. Dont people want to protect the physical privacy of their daughter? Why let her out to a place where boys have just got one thing on their mind? Plus a myriad of other troubles and side-issues? You know what you saying and of course I am not the sort of mother to stick a pack of condoms in her bag and this is why i have asked for advice....no mother is perfect and when you get wrapped up in your emotions you do need confirmations sometimes from other mothers that you are right in feeling concerned...I dont need someone being sarcastic by making the comment lizzyonseat made...it will put people off to reaching out for help. I think generally I am a good mum and do say no....i just wonder how some parents can leave their teenagers to have a party unattended and yes, it doe snot feel right too me. Appreciate your comments though....She definitely will not be going on this basis...if their no parents they we have not met or know, then it will be out of the question...none of my friends have teenager daughter so it dont think there is anytjhing wrong by me asking for some advice on her

Just reading about 800 Tailor on the other thread. Has anyone used them? How much do they charge to pick up, do alterations and then drop back off? For example something that would cost you around 30-40 AED to do in Satwa, what would be the total charge with 800 Tailor? Yes, I used them they were very good. We have my daughters dress adjusted, taken in at the sides and the length, was around 150dhs I think but they may have charged us more as we need it rushed. But, definitely worth it they come to your house which makes it nice and easy.

Do you have a dog walker, today in shorts and yellow t-shirt, walking 3 dogs at the sand park. Walking a German shepherd, a 3 color terrier, and a kind of white saluki style with longer hair? The saluki style screamed in pain for several minutes! The walker kept holding his hands around his mouth to stop him from screaming. He is limping now, according to the guy he ran in a tree?? But this dog in pain!! I hope he is ok. Which Al reem?

You cant just change your name on a passport, you need to apply for a new passport due to name change. The passport, marriage certificate and fee need to be sent to the Passport Office in the UK and should take around 4 - 5 weeks (depending if they have cleared the backlog). If you have lots of time left on your current passport I would wait until it is either due for renewal or until you are running short of pages as you will have to pay for a new 10 year passport. I would just use your maiden name for booking flights etc. Once your passport has been renewed with your new name you will need to apply for a new visa and ID which all cost money. The Drivers licence can be changed to your new name when it is up for renewal (once your passport has been changed) again, this would cost a fee to change the name before renewal. It is straight forward to change your name but time consuming and costly with all the fees here for things. Thanks, Chrissy. I only saw your reply now, that is really helpful. I may leave it for now as I have quite a bit of time left on my old passport but hate my old surname.. :-(

Is anyone else getting very frequent (once a week average now) 'spam' calls and emails from Smith & Ken claiming you have made and enquiry and that they're following up with it/returning your call about your enquiry/ you were speaking to their colleague and they were following up- they've even made up an 'enquiry number' to which they are referring. I'm wondering if it's really Smith & Ken - all really made up stories from them. Despite telling them multiple times to remove our contact from their database. The last time we spoke to them would've been in 2012!n Yes, I do and I have complained a number of times and they do nothing. They are very rude there and dont care. When we were house hunting last year to buy these two young guys showed up and thought they were gods gift, they were so arrogant and the worst thing was there car was so dusty and in the dust on the back window someone had drawn 'men's private parts' and written really crude things and we had to follow behind them,. I complained to their office manager and she did not seem to care at all. I hear nothing but bad things about this office.

Went to China Club at Raddison Deira - 99dhs all you can eat dimsum with selection of noodles, soups and desserts too, excellent value no doubt about it...but I actually thought the dimsums were pretty average, the steamed didn't taste particularly fresh and the fried dimsum was incredibly stodgy. Any other favourite dimsum joints out there? I love hakkasan but limited to special occasions as it's quite pricey. TIA Ping Pong in Dubai Mall is my favourite here and was my favourite in London too, unfortunately here they cant do the cocktails. Its 135dhs per person unlimited buffet on Fridays.

Hello Ladies! I am considering getting my undereye dark circles/hollows filled in because I don't want to look tired anymore! Just wondering if any ladies out here have tried out Dr. Robertson at LA Clinique-ME and what was the experience? I had a free consult with him today but he seemed in such a rush and brushed off some new technologies I asked him about. But the price for the Swedish made Restylane injections for both eyes (1ml) was 1800 AED. I haven't seen many doctors around here but I think that's a good price! Has anybody tried him? what were the results?!! Thanks ladies!!! edited by At21 on 11/09/2014 I agree, would not go with someone offering free consultations. I have work with plastic surgeon in Harley Street in London, you must be very careful who you go to for this. Dr Christine Engman at Cooper Clinic is very good. I had restylane filler/water facial injections with her, excellent results. She is Swedish too.

I am looking for a school which concentrates more on the academic side but doesn't ignore the activities part. I wonder which schools i need to start looking at My daughter has just started at Gems Silicon Oasis, we removed her from JBS as they seemed to be lacking on so much. They did not encourage kids to do after school activities at all and what they had was very limited as well it seem kids go home when the teachers felt like it. She is so happy at Gems, have been given assignments in her first week lol and has come home wanting to do so many things after school which I just think is great as this makes her socialise more with other kids. They have recently be given 'outstanding' too. As its a new school dont think the waiting list is too long. Is tough decision though choosing school here, good luck
