My daughter is in the same age and we were fighting the same horrible night cough from August until December. If your LO doesn't have fever all this time it is most likely allergic, even if initial cause was viral. I suggest you see a pediatrician specializing on asthma and allergies. The cough might be coming from the nose (allergic rhinitis), when mucus is coming down into the throat and lungs causing this cough. My LO was treated with Nasonex, Seretide and then Singulair for 3 months, when winter came the cough was gone. I still don't know whether it happened because we had our ACs cleaned or the medication helped or air in winter was better. This cough is hard to get rid of, I hope your doctor will establish the cause for it. Thanks Alemania, he actually hasn't had a temperature at all during all of this and his appetite has been great which is strange as that's the first thing that he looses when he is ill...my worst fear is asthma as DH had really bad child asthma. I asked his doc about the chances and he said that they can't clinically test for this until 5/6 and any tests would be inconclusive. Can you please let me know which specialist you went to see? Thanks again ladies

how did he confirm bronchitis? did he do a swab test of the inner throat? Typically they should order a chest X-ray to rule out a condition like pneumonia, and may sometimes order a breathing test (called spirometry) to rule out asthma... if your doc hasn't done these I would insist on it before medicating the child any further... with antibiotics most children start to show improvements in symptoms within 48hrs... but if the fever and cough is persisting it may be signs of something more severe... Ok, that's of great help. He did a swab test, but no chest x ray. I'll book him in tomorrow to do so, thanks again

has the doctor confirmed bronchitis and ruled out pneumonia? just asking coz my 2yr went through a similar episode two months back and after two different courses of antibiotics and no improvement - finally blood tests and chest xray was done which clearly showed pneumonia... then poor little bubba was admitted for a week in hospital on heavy meds until she got better... she was exhibiting all the very same symptoms and even we tried out all the very same home remedies at first hope he gets better soon Thanks Horizonmum, gosh that sounds awful... the doc has confirmed it's bronchitis, but then neither him or I mentioned pneumonia. Maybe I wait and see if this course of antibiotics works before we do the x rays and blood tests...I've even lifted the bed at head end and it's made no difference at all :-(

So the All Inclusive at Rixos Al Bahar includes grape & hops??? Anyone stayed in the family rooms? Are there any rooms on the ground floor? (I have toddlers & balconies terrify me at the mo ;) Also is the new Doubletree one at RAK all inclusive as well? Morning! We ended up at the Rixos as we got a really good deal and yes a selection of grape and hops are free flowing throughout the stay. We stayed in a family room which had a huge balcony and was fine for for 4 adults and a toddler - there were rooms on the ground floor but you'd just have to specify at time of booking

Ooooh, that one sounds interesting!! never been there. where exactly is the Montgomerie? The montgomerie golf course - its in Emirates Hills. Has 2 outdoor restaurants(Links and Montys) over looking the golf course. One has a playground(Links) and the other has plenty of space for the kids to run around - I just can't remember if they are both in the book I know Montys is but not sure about Links. Its a lovely venue for guests - have a great night wherever you end up

Thanks for the heads up on that. Im now thinking maybe jst to go somewhere like Carluccio's in Marina mall as there is space outside for the kids to run around and look at the boats and we have vouchers too. Why do husbands always decide to dump tasks like this on you at the last minute! Grrr!! Whenever I'm in this situation we always head to the Montgomerie. Don't know if you've been but it's good value for money (especially as Montys is in the entertainer this year), playground for the kids, good kids menu and just quite a chilled out alfresco place. A little further then you wanted to go but an option if your guests don't mind jumping in a taxi

Thanks Sabrina. Just had a look at the menu and it looks quite nice, but i have a feeling we're going to end up footing the bill so anywhere with vouchers in the family entertainer would be a huge help. have been scouring through it but havent come up with anything of use so far. only thing i can find is Thyme restaurant. Anyone been there?? is it child friendly? No worries, shame Rosso is in the Fine Dining..Thyme is family friendly, again spacious, the food is OK but not outstanding. It doesn't have an outdoor area so just get a table away from the bar as it is also the smoking area

Rosso in Amwaj Rotana is great for sitting outside on the terrace, good Italian fare and spacious for the kids - we usually sit on the faux grass area where the toddlers can play on the grass with the trains/cars/barbies right next to the table once they have had enough of the high chairs!

We've gone through a few and found Dr Keith brilliant. He takes a great approach to the children and his experience is clear. Never had a problem with appointments but I guess we just got lucky. We normally manage to secure an appointment on the day we call.

There's a few dotted around town, depending on where you live but the ones I know of are at MOE, Springs Centre(Spinneys), Al Wasl Road (same building as Spinneys) and one by the flag on JBR. It's great but can become and expensive addiction!

Haha I know what you mean, the sound of them breathing whilst asleep so close is def an amazing thing and one I haven't heard for a while! Yep Panadol tonight if he wakes and let's hope it will all get back to 'normal' over the next few days - Good luck tonight, and if all doesn't go to plan at least I'l know that someone else is pacing around carrying a rather heavy baby aswell at midnight!

i am also experiencing the same thing with my 17 month old. he goes to sleep between 8-8:30 and wakes up at 11:30, starts screaming then want turns with me and dh holding and walking. he keeps on crying for 1 hour and then goes back to sleep.from last 3 nights we have this routine :( but he is sprouting 6 teeth together! (late teething so only has 4 + 3 new). i have noticed he has become violent and angry also. poor babies :( So we're not the only ones! Yep pacing up and down with him until he finally goes - I am soo glad we're not the only ones and feel so much better that I can put it down to teething and not a new routine - phew!

He's just got a couple of canines through and hasn't got all his molars, so I'm hoping it is just teething, I just don't know why he won't go back in the cot that he has always loved - I guess he just needs a bit of TLC because he's in pain? Yes will def try Calpol tonight and see if we have a better night, thanks Meagle

Morning Ladies! We're moving on Thursday and using a removal company who have stated that any permissions from Nakheel would need to be obtained by us..tbh we never even thought we would have an issue, can anyone let me know what the procedure is as I'm now in a panic! We have emailed a contact at Nakheel which our security guy gave us but still no response from them...

Hi Zeee, thanks for the response! Basically we're in a bit of a rush as we need to paint the baby room by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. All we need is basically the bottom half of the 4 walls to be painted in baby blue, I'll buy some kind of boarder to divide the blue from the white walls..is that doable with the guy that you have and the timeframe we have? Thanks again and really appreciate your help!

Hiya Kewlzany, have a look at the Babyzen YoYo, it's really light weight and also great for travelling as it collapses really easily and also one of the few that when collapsed is small enough to be taken on board planes - saves waiting around for it once you've landed - I got mine from Just Kidding but I'm sure other stores will have it aswell

Thanks Sarah Lou, so you reckon it's ok around a communal area? We all have liquor licenses so that wouldn't be an issue, I just wasn't sure as we wouldn't technically be within our villa/garden You must google and read the law about drinking or get drunk in public places :) I depends on your neighbours I used to live in a compound and my next door neighbor was a judge on one side and a policeman on the other so I would not of dared have alcohol on display It is such a tricky one as I imagine if you are not noisy and disturbing anyone you could get away with it but if the police are called for a any reason then it gets difficult

I think my question has given out the wrong messages! I'm not looking to get plastered with the kids playing but I just wasn't sure if compounds were classed as 'public' places. I've been living in apartments for 8 years now and openly had drinks and bbq around the shared pool on a Friday and never was there an issue and in face most people did the same. I'm guessing by the feedback that this wouldn't be the case within a compound of villas

Thanks guys! I was thinking about Apron and Hammers but then started reading REALLY bad reviews, especially regarding the inside area smelling and also the service being poor..maybe they're old reviews and they were teething problems? Pierchic is def one of my favourite restaurants but probably not casual enough as we fancy somewhere for lunch on Saturday
